US NAVY Chaplain Promotion to Commander

  • What an honor to be promoted to Navy Commander (CDR) and the icing on the cake was getting promoted by my family and lifelong friend and former commanding officer Colonel Andrew Wilcox (Bastard 6) as well as prayed for by my best friend and pastor, Jared Powell (Paradigm Church San Clemente, CA).
My favorite part of being a chaplain is chaplain confidentiality...so that I can turn my ears into graves where people can bury their problems and begin healing.
I am fortunate to be endorsed by the Coalition of Spirit-Filled Churches (spiritfilled.org) and sponsored by Paradigm Church San Clemente, CA. Fun fact: I have never compromised my faith in or out of this uniform. I am paid to wear a cross on my uniform and be an ambassador for Jesus.
    Ceremony date: 1 September 2020
Location: 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA

You can always tell the leaders who are honored by those who have served along side. Promotions are great, but the people that got you there are just as important. Chaplain is awesome.

Congratulations, Commander Bareng! I am more than proud of you!!! “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Inshallah you are having great day. In gods grace, I hope that you see this message. From your Muslim brother who is in the process of becoming a Navy Chaplain through the CCPO I could not be more happy to see this channel. Unfortunately I don’t have too many connections as I began the seminary for now a year, but I believe in destiny and that I found your channel. I will keep learning and hope to meet you one day. All the blessings, and peace.

14 years navy and army here and chaplains are absolutely crucial to our personnel. Spiritual and mental health are crucial and are served by our chaplains. If you don’t want their services don’t go. Don’t force your belief structure on the rest of us. Freedom of religion is not freedom from religion. You apparently forgot to what you swore your oath.

@@richardrobertson1886 How can one have freedom of religion when you don't have freedom from religion? That is absolutely critical to it. When I swore my oath, it was to the constitution of the United States. The one that makes no law respecting the establishment of religion. Having a chaplain, does exactly that. Not having a chaplain does not remove free exercise of religion. I've been to plenty of duty stations where not being at "sunday services" earned you extra duty or duties that you would have otherwise not been part of. Let's be honest here in how these things work.
