  • Welcome back, paper folding enthusiasts! Today, we're diving into the world of origami with a unique twist - we'll be crafting an impressive and stylish origami suit jacket. Imagine the satisfaction of creating a miniature suit jacket entirely out of paper! This project combines the elegance of formal wear with the creativity of origami, resulting in a conversation-starter that's bound to impress. So, grab your favorite origami paper and let's get started!
    Materials You'll Need:
    Square sheets of origami paper
    Clear workspace
Patience and a passion for origami!
    Step 1: Folding the Base:
Begin by selecting your base color for the jacket. Lay the square origami paper with the colored side facing down. Fold it diagonally in half, forming a triangle. Crease the fold well, and then unfold.
    Step 2: Forming the Lapels:
Fold the upper half of the triangle downwards, leaving a small portion at the top. This section will become the lapels of the jacket. The larger the section you leave, the wider the lapels will be.
    Step 3: Creating the Collar:
Fold the top layer of the lapels back up, forming a triangle at the top. This will create the collar of the jacket.
Step 4: Shaping the Jacket Front:
Fold the sides of the triangle inwards, aligning them with the centerline. This shapes the front panels of the jacket. The outer edges of the folded triangle will be the front edges of the jacket.
    Step 5: Designing the Pockets:
For a touch of authenticity, let's add some pockets to the jacket. Fold the bottom corners of the jacket front upwards slightly to form pocket flaps. These small details make a big difference!
Step 6: Folding the Jacket Back:
Now it's time to fold the back of the jacket. Take a second sheet of origami paper in a different color - this will represent the inner lining of the jacket. Fold it in half diagonally, crease well, and then unfold.
    Step 7: Assembling the Jacket:
Place the jacket back (inner lining) under the jacket front. Align the centerlines of both pieces, ensuring the jacket back slightly peeks out from behind. Secure the pieces together by folding the excess flap of the jacket front over the back and tucking it behind the jacket back.
    Step 8: Final Touches:
Smooth out any creases and refine the jacket's shape. You can gently fold the bottom edge of the jacket upwards to mimic the hem. Adjust the lapels and collar to your preferred style.
    Step 9: Display and Admire:
Congratulations, you've just crafted an exquisite origami suit jacket! Place it on your desk, shelf, or give it as a unique gift. Your creativity and precision have resulted in a paper masterpiece that's sure to turn heads.
