Great video but man it's so hard to follow which one is the fake and which is real without you putting it in. and I don't know if you switch them from time to time. confused the heck out of me. but again, overall a great video. keep it up!

Dude! i want to say thank you! I bought one from Ebay for around 200 and for the longest time i thought it was authentic. That's until this video popped up on my recommended fee. I bought one from Amazon and let me tell you its day and night difference.
So was the one from Amazon real? Or not? I'm considering buying one from Amazon

would you mind taking the capsules and mounts off both and provide the weight of the fake, and the real one?
If it's a fake, how is it possible that software read as original and can even upgrade firmware?
My USB fell into the back and I opened it up to fix it and resolder it ! - found out the housing was real but the internals was fake, bought from guitar center. Couldn't fix the broken wire on the circuit board it was too thin and was made very poorly.
Threw it away ! Shure not doing something about this is weird ?

This is not entirely correct. My Shure Mv7 was purchased in 2021 and has the green wires and the neutrik logo in the xld input, unlike what you are claiming. I have even written to Shure as well and verifed my mic on their website. Please stop misguiding.
bearing in mind loads of big brands are made under license in china, im expecting the so called counterfeits are actually rejects from the production lines not going to waste.
I don’t think it’s fake it’s an unauthorized only if they can fix the problem with the Og it means someone saw the flaws from the company and decided to manufacture them since maybe it cost US$80 labor cost to produce them and shure making a profit on the market...
I bought one of those fakes in aliexpress. At first I thought it was just a good price, but after ordering I learned about fake shures and was worried. Initially when it arrived it was so perfect I was “shure” it was legit. Then I disassembled as you did and realized the internals were different than what I saw in another video review. I don’t have the original, was going to post photos to compare but then I saw your video and now know it’s fake. Mine is identical internally to your fake one. Also just like yours, it is really well built and it works with the software perfectly.
Did you notice any differences in the audio compared to the original? I couldn’t notice any by listening to yours. Your audio sounds like it’s clipping a bit, but it’s the same for both the real and fake as well, I’d assume your gain is a bit too high.
The clipping sound is the plosives the mics picked up without any EQ. Definitely was my mistake for speaking too close to the microphones. I recorded both using the zoom f3 32bit
To me I found the real one to sounds a little cleaner but when I watched this video on CZcams I noticed that the difference is not noticeable at all. CZcams compression makes both mics sound similar to me. However listening to both live, the real one is better.

This is why Shure has something called Authorized Dealers.
I actually bought two MV7’s, and two Shure Headphones for extremely cheap. £150 for the lot. I’m no audiophile, it all sounds pretty good to me.

Here’s the tricky thing, it all comes across as being real based off your checks excluding the wiring.
You said the fake has two Green wires. That’s the only thing. Everything else implies it’s real.
in the same boat here, glad to see someone else with the same "issue". though I am quite surprised by especially the physical quality, but even the audio quality. miles better than the razer seiren x, so I might not return and get an original at all for a while.

Discovering the Fake Shure’s put me down a rabbit hole wanting to compare against legit mics etc to hear the sound quality difference.
I never really noticed an issue before, but when you do compare against genuine mics, you can hear the difference.
That being said, ignorance was bliss for the two years where I thought I had genuine mics lol…

Thanks for the video. I bought one off eBay and I could tell right away something was off. I'm glad I had a real one to compare it to. There are other signs you can tell that its fake, even in the documentation. But as Shure wisely states, its best not to share all of them so they don't replicate them further.
I consider buying a MV7 as soon as the USB connector is "fixed".
Just sad that they have chosen such a connection.
legit the only reason i got the mv7 was because of the usb connection... if i knew it would last me literally 2 weeks i wouldnt have spent the money on it. tragic asf. and i cant even return it.

If it is the usb connector I would try to repair it or find someone to do it.
The connector ist not THAT complicated compared to the chips and other electronics on that PCB.

This is Shure's fault. They're making this crap in China, knowing that China copies American gear all the time. And if, as a manufacturer, you're GIVING THE CHINESE FACTORY YOUR CONSTUCTION PLANS, it just makes it that much easier for them to copy the mics. Shure needs to up their game, get out of Chinese factories, and make better stuff in general. The fact that the knock-off has a better USB port than the real thing, and sounds so similar that most people would never know the difference, is telling.
The whole video you are talking that the REAL one is fake ???? Why are you misleding people ??? I have 2 green wires ob my mic and neutrik on XLR, and in the video you sad that fake one is the one who has trash logo in the middle on the backsite but it actualy is a real one ???
Total and utter nonsense. You CAN tell the difference between the two. Shoddy materials are used and it definitely sounds different.
I realized that both originate from China; In my country, products from China is not a good sign.
