      Yeah man. I wish it was brighter like the Nova but you can’t complain for the price.

    I keep wondering if I should get an LED panel like this or a more traditionally shaped LED with softbox. Maybe I should get something smaller first, 1000$ might be cheap compared to others, I still find it a lot for light that doesn't have 10years+ warranty
    as a sidenote...
    it is obvious why certain colors clip faster on your face... because your face isn't a white reflector ... but it reflects red much better than blue for instance. In order to gauge brightness correctly, just put up a white standard from a color chart for instance and measure each channel (RGB) from the camera and you'll know. Also keep in mind cameras have a non-uniform quantum efficiency, so even if blue is just as bright as green (physically), the signal you see might be lower but that can very well be due to the camera!
    None of that would be the light's fault.

    Nice review! When building out your light kit from scratch. Would you say that buying lights without v-mount option and going with a portable AC power station is a more cost effective/versatile option? (For example Nanlite FS-300 vs Nanlite Forza 300.)

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  Před 3 lety +1

      possibly more cost effective but also less convenience. Vmount on a light makes it so portable

    • @shueibdahir
      @shueibdahir Před 6 měsíci

      I have the fs-300 and my solution is to buy a 680w portable ac power bank. A single one which costs 400€ powers the light for 1,5h @ full brightness

    Nice review Lee. We are currently doing our own review of the LD150RS versions (the square but slightly more powerful ones), I would highly suggest that you test the new Godox remote it is really great (especially with these lights). We are also looking for a solution to the power brick issue - it's not just Godox its many brands - I talked to a few manufacturers about making a universal metal power brick holder with a v-mount.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  Před 3 lety

      I actually modded one of the power bricks to click into the vmount plate in the light. I bought a reverse plate (like what would be on a battery) and mounted it to the power supply. It looks and works great I just didn’t want to put that in the video as it requires voiding any warranty

      @@LeeZavitz Hi Lee :)
      How did you do that? just glued it to the brick? I tried this before - it didn't really stick - you need something that goes around the brick - these things are heavy and they need something secure...

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  Před 3 lety

      No I took the case apart and screwed a plate through the back of the case and put it back together. It’s permanent drive.google.com/file/d/1lIWWQYbnq37DltwJ0-oAjY97S9pa6-8c/view?usp=drivesdk

      @@LeeZavitz OK - I have the same plate but did you actually take apart the plastic of the power brick? I think it is glued in not even held with screws - that is some serious DIY stuff that I am not sure I would like to do, to be honest...

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  Před 3 lety

      It’s screwed together. Under the little rubber feet are the screws. It’s easy to take apart

    Does anyone have advice for using this sideways / vertical? It doesn't seem like the bracket is sturdy enough to just put it on a C-stand and rotate. Thanks!

    Odd place in the market... GVM makes a 150W light 14" square for $700 and this one is $1,000, same wattage, just bigger

    To me this is not a budget light. Its more than half the price of a fantastic aputure nova 300c but it has only half the power

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  Před rokem

      In terms of price, durability and brightness the p300c is a professional light where the godox is much more budget friendly and something you aren’t going to be throwing in a rental grip truck. So they are in different leagues and the price reflects that. ( I also own a p300c)

      @@LeeZavitz its 800 difference only. If i had to chose i would rather save some more money to get the nova. I guess no one would regret it. The nova is perfect
