There’s a beauty CZcamsr called RawBeautyKristi who uploaded a (very long and detailed) video going over her birth story because it was an extremely challenging and difficult labor, and she also described something similar where the epidural either wasn’t administered correctly or her body just didn’t react to it well because only her left leg was numb and she could feel everything else. You’d really think they’d have that figured out by now.

Out of my 3 labors, only one epidural partially failed. It's all about placement, and also about rotating so that the medicine evenly distributes. Because it was my last baby I was able to speak up and they adjusted the position and it worked. Lots of people don't speak up because they don't want to be a bother and things like this happen.

I'm child free by choice but I've heard so many stories like these, even my sister had a lot of trouble with her epidural at no fault of her own. Her legs were numb as well and the doctor (who I ended up screaming at and reporting) yelled at her "it's your fault if you get paralyzed don't move an inch!" Malpractice at it's finest. I know every person's body reacts to things differently but I feel like a lot of epidurals that don't work the way they are intended is because of them being administered incorrectly which is extremely dangerous by itself

The same thing happened to me! My right leg was completely numb but I felt pain everywhere else. I swear the anesthesiologist thought I was crazy

It’s so funny because I didn’t even know I could click the epidural button. When I was getting stitches I asked the doctor to stop because I could feel it, she was shocked lol. I was somewhat numb but not entirely.

I was in so much pain after my epidural failed. They kept telling me it wasn’t pain but pressure. Yet the nurse said I was ready to push because my screams were “primal”. I was screaming for 3 hours before they LET me push! had to wait for the dr because the nurse would get in trouble if she delivered.

Oh yeah my epidural didn’t take, my right leg was numb and the anesthesiologist was in the ER for the rest of my labor. Hahaha. Yay for me

Both my legs were numb but my pelvis wasn’t and it was too late for them to try to fix it so I just suffered through the whole thing 😅 on top of the induction med killing me

Both of my epidurals with both kids just didn’t work. My sons worked for a little bit at first (I got it at hour 12)but my labor lasted 40hrs so it eventually wore off and I felt EVERYTHING. With my daughter I legit didn’t feel any relief at all. I was still able to feel everything. Luckily she only took 11hrs and I didn’t take the epidural until hour 7 haha.

I myself don’t really want children, but I thought this was so interesting. You only hear good stories most of the time. It makes giving birth so creepy for me because I know not every single thing is and has to be so good and perfect as people tell. Just the openness of this makes it such a beautiful video, because giving birth is hard even though it’s so incredibly cool and beautiful how a body can do that. And even if there are some complications, every mom that’s been through that and is trying their best to raise their kids is awesome.

such a good comment. and yes you have to remember that pregnancy and birth is a potentially life threatening condition and event ! I was extremely lucky with my birth, but have heard alot of challenging stories. you never know till you get there

i’m 29weeks pregnant and i find it to be the exact opposite.. all i hear are horror stories and “just you wait” it feels like no one has any positivity to share sometimes and it makes me really scared but either way this baby gotta get up outta here so 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@brooklynharder4489I've been with my sister for the births of her children and I was always so scared of childbirth. After witnessing her *all natural* births, no drugs no epidural, I was like okay...I could honestly do this. My sis swears by going natural. You can actually feel when your body is telling you to push so the labor is way faster. I think she had contractions for like 4 hours, then pushed for maybe 30 mins. The body knows and it's gonna be just fine. You'll do great.

Oh my gosh this happened to me and they had to read administer the epidural 10 cm. Apparently when they gave it to me, it did not actually go to where it needed to go. I think this may have happened to you. So they never read administered like holy shit girl you were in pain.
