Thanks so much! Seeing a "bad" example was very helpful and I really appreciate the detailed but swift explanation. Most useful vid on this I've seen by far.

Tip: Base layer > Drybrush > Wash > Drybrush. The wash will darken your first drybrush one or two steps and blend it in to the base layer giving a nicer transition from base layer to drybrush.

Great advice 👌 this works really well with contrast and Speedpaint 😁

Dude I know this comment is from a year ago but thank you!! I just had a real lightbulb epiphany due to this 💡 🎉

I like your videos, but I'd like to see the finished results more at the end. Seems like you show the process a lot but not the end product. Thanks!

I will make an effort to do that 😁
The reason I don't fully paint models is I don't like when videos do that.
They show a little technique then masterfully paint the rest of the model. This muddied the water, you can't see what the technique looks like as the rest of the model looks amazing.
However a little rotating dried model I can do 😁

@@TheBasicBrush Yeah I agree, the whole thing doesn’t need to be painted, but a close up still image of the technique result you’re showing would go a long way, IMO. Keep up the great work!

    Nice one!
Worth mentioning is that it's a lot easier to drybrush with a thicker paint (aka gw) then a runnier paint (vallejo air etc).

Dang it I even had my dry paint out to mention 😱 that being said if you check out Artist Opus they like a wetter paint. Stops texture build up.
      Great tip thank you!

@@TheBasicBrush I do agree with Byrons/AO's approach, using a moist brush.
But I really hate drybrushing with runny paint. I always take off to much paint, or leave to much in the brush. ^^
Have you tried Mig Jimenez DIO paint? It's more gel'like and made especially for drybrushing, it's amazing tbh! The range just lacks some much needed colours. :(

      @TheBasicBrush  Před 2 lety +1

I have not, will check it out thank you 😁
I've heard similar about scale 74, the gel makes them good to thin and dry brush

@@TheBasicBrush Hmm, I only own 1 set of S75 paints, but I've never actually tried dry brushing with them.
Which is kinda "strange" since Byron is such a big fan of Huldra Blue (:
If I've got time, I'll try one of them tomorrow, see how i feel about them. Thanks for reminding me!!! (:
