Few people in the world will appreciate such a person, his attitude is appreciated and I wish you success!!!
kind words thankyou.
I must admit I thought it was hopeless this car when you first showed it. But now it has made real progress! Good job! 👌🇮🇹
Glad you like it!
It's pronounced "Barketta" (little boat or little ship in Italian).
Love the grey body/red roof combo, years ago used to own a Peugeot 306 cab with these colours, best imo. 👌🏼😎
yep its just one of those words that comes out CH not K in the English language.
Great episode. What I find as really great is not only the amount of good work and skill, but also the amount of honesty! No matter what the project is.
Great job mister!
i try to prize my self on being honest. no point lying as its bites you back further down the line.
What a stunning 🤩 little car it is, and great job restoring it. Iv just bought myself one and il be uploading a video on it this weekend ❤❤
Nice.
Look forward to showing it off lol. Maybe il bring it to you if it needs anything doing.
If you do all your work as thorough as this and with this same honesty and for a decent price I'd love to be your customer. Trouble is I drive the wrong brand and live in the wrong country. :-)
No worries. Thanks for your support. Best you can do for me is share my videos in your part of the world. Thanks
@@ItaliaAutos My part by the way is The Netherlands. :-)
love watching this kind of videos after work.. so relaxing
Thanks for watching
Great job sir. Will look fantastic when finished.
i can‘t help it, but you‘re just a really nice guy! always enjoy watching your videos!
I appreciate that!
incredible work, well done and keep up the great work.
Thanks. Hopefully anothee update on it towards the end of this month.
under the car, for its age there is a large amount of rust?
Coming along very nicely. Doing great job. Can't wait to see how it looks at finish 😀
You and me both!
What a turn around from when you got it.
Was interesting to see the belt and variator renewal. Thinking of doing variator on mine over winter when I'm not using it.
I love watching these ! So mesmerising!👍
Glad you like them!
Brilliant vid mate you really cracked on with that! Had a go at few vids on my channel now like the 20V Coupe and Thesis
Cheers. Ill have a look tonight.
@@ItaliaAutos I mikin mopin ml l.
Good progress! Man I wish we had these little cars in South Africa
Surprised you didn't.
great video as usual interesting to see the barkettas turn around ive had a mx5 now have a mark 3 mr2 and ive always had an eye on the barketta to all great little drivers cars !
Spot on color match, well done..
ill have to give the paint shop the credit for that lol.
Great vid and l thought the music was spot on . Intresting little car once again l keep spying intresting alfas in your unit
Yeah always new stuff. Some of them mine some customer cars.
Good job that Neil, well done. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Remember when these came out
The company I worked for used to do paint work for the fiat dealership
Always liked them
Looking good well done👍👍👍🏴👍
Cheers
The progress looks nice
thanks
Very good job !
thanks
Great video, great car, great job!
Glad you liked it!
You should try to tidy up the cam cover, light sand blasting works wonders and will may the engine bay look much cleaner - same for the undercarriage, although there you best option would be dry ice blasting. Great work so far.
i think someone has had a go at it. it will prob be on the list.
very good job done
Neil do you recommend replacing the rocker cover gasket with a new item when you do a cam belt on a twin cam/twin spark engine? You really have turned this car around!
I would yes as its a common leak point
Nice videos , just subscribed looks like ive been missing out 😀
Yep lots of interesting stuff to watch
Italia Autos
Only from Wednesfield so nice to know your only round the corner for parts and things , looks like watching your addictive videos from now on 👍
Cheers
Hey mate like I've mentioned in your first video on the barchetta I'm also fixing up one I remember in the first video you considered changing the hood because it seemed to leak, that might not be necessary as a common problem on this model and might just be as easy as FIAT BARCHETTA WINDOW REGULATOR set I found on eBay for about 17 usd and in my case a new back window for 125 euros. Plus the hood you got already is perfect for that silver paint. Just send me a message if you struggle to find these part.
And again thanks for the videos very much enjoy your work.
cheers its something on my list to look into.
Great job on the repaint, and the cam work. Is the corrosion on the underside from winter driving ?. Car design is beautiful, i like how the headlights ref the covered headlights of old Ferraris, also good you got one without the 3rd brake light . Unreal that they didn't think to sell the Barchetta in California, or any US market, esp considering how many MX5's have been sold.
thanks. yeah rust if from uk winters
and if the rear foot brake has no effect then the brake force regulators are tight
I'm new to your channel and you really know your cars.
question though; wouldn't that place cause a trouble for an air filter when driven into a puddle?
No as the lif has a seal on it.
Great video and really enjoyed the bodywork process. I note you dry sanded everything, why or for what reason would you wet sand? Will be fun little car when done. ✅
I dont know why anyone would wet sand as its so much easier and less messy dry sanding.
@@ItaliaAutos You can achieve a better finish with wet and dry paper in my opinion, plus, the wet sanding helps to keep the dust down and stops the finely gritted paper from clogging up.
I'm looking at doing cam belt etc. Soon on my 2.0 JTS. Variator is almost $300 in Australia. Is it getting to the point that we should be trying to repair these things?
Yeah but the repair kit is crap.
@@ItaliaAutos Alrighty. And what is tell tale sign of it needing replacement besides the diesel like sound some folks have described?
wish i had a shed ! the fiat is starting to look great .should be a fun little car when it's all done
a shed! ive got a unit full of old projects lol.
The paint job looks great, but there is a slight dent on the bonnet. Its just to the right of the centre...
yep i know. gutted it didnt show up when i flatted it.
Did you weld up those holes under the scuttle?
No holes under the scuttle.
Another stunning fiat that was gone to soon and not exploited nearly enough, RHD would have been great , and I suspect the 5cyl turbo engine in the coupe would fit if you put the battery in the boot.
That would have made the Barchetta a real competitor against the 986 Boxster...Fiat do consistently miss a trick.
Good work and the paint match is bang on...👍
Yeah definitely missed a trick.
Would it be difficult, to swap a twin spark engine?
Into this. Prob fairly easy but a phase 1 engine
Like your videos. Ever tried to fade the colour onto the next panel, or on the same, to get a smoother colour change?
I decided to paint front end first and then I'd blend if needed. Turns out whole car needs paint
@@ItaliaAutos got some own projects coming up, never painted before. How do you do the matching, just the paint code and hope for the best?
@@wred_e a good paint shop and the colour code.
Is this part 1 of the Barchetta? Feels like this would be the 2nd one, but I can't find any ealier video about the Barchetta. Also the intro "again I'll be working on the Barchetta", suggets there is a previous one. Did/do I miss something?
Anyway, nice job on this 'little boat'!
Its the 2nd one.
Hi, nice work on the front end, looks very tidy. What does the variator on the inlet cam do?
Jonathan Webster thanks variable valve timing.
take a close look at the rear wheel arch boxes, they'll rust through like
All fine.
@@ItaliaAutos and when opening the roof, make sure that there is no kink in the window, otherwise it will tear quickly
@@ItaliaAutos looked good on me too, but was only held by the underbody protection, on the right rear wheel on the front where you can see an x, press once with your finger
I personally would have got a decent PDR repair sorted on the front panel. I’m not a lover of just throwing filler in. That said, seeing another Barchetta get another lease of life is no bad thing. Not many about and not a bad motor despite its Punto underpinnings.
paint was cracked so i t would of needed paint anyway.
What do you call that tool that you used to take of the oil filter
oil filter removal tool
@@ItaliaAutos 😂 cool
@@ItaliaAutos while I have you do you know what would be the best stage 3 clutch option for my Alfa Romeo gt 1.9 jtd
That car needs a Liqui Moly proline flush, an oil and filter change with some triple qx 10w40, run up to temp maybe for a few miles, and then immediately drained hot again. The oil looked black enough that the new oil is looking black already I bet!
it will get another oil change once its been run for 50 miles.
I would have changed the camshaft sensor at the same time. They also fail and then all the work with the timing belt has to be done again
i wouldnt because they rarely go wrong,on alfas anyway and there the same part.
@@ItaliaAutos for me it was defective after 130,000 km ... first sporadically then total failure. Read fault memory
I have done the cambelt om my own but i did not replace the variator why did you it and what Will happen if it fails ?
And great video
Fantastic job
Thanks
Please wear eye protection while spraying ! One of my best pals is blind in one eye because he didn’t . And you only have two eyes so take care of them both !!
i know i need to.
Excellent work..........jealous as hell because you have a ramp and all my welding is on my back. Just make sure you leave plenty of drain holes free, mine were blocked and because the Hood leaked it filled up with water regularly. Did you manage to get a hood seal kit............i was quoted 600.00 euros which has prompted me to find a cheaper solution using sikaflex and bicycle inner tubes when i finish the floor.
not looked at the roof yet.
Fade only way to go
You will find out in the next episode why i didn't blend it into the doors.
Save time, filler and money and try pdr tools next time. It‘s!
I've got a dent on the boot I'm going to get some pdr tools and give it a go.
I can't believe the price of that variator either.
Neither could I.
Neal, you need a proper spray booth mate
I do.
Any 166 related videos?
Non at all. Sorry.
SELL IT BEFORE SUMMER ENDS NEIL>> IT SUIT SOME HOT CHICK WITH THE ROOF DOWN
Very nice except for the pronunciation of Barchetta.
thats how i say it and im sticking with it lol...
Btw, it's pronounced as barketta! 😉
yep i know but i've always said it wrong.
@@ItaliaAutos haha, just your way of saying it 😉
You do know there is a repair kit for the variator, right? OE71715450
yes but they dont last.
@@ItaliaAutos Then the spring from the repair kit is worse than the original spring?
