G'day from WA! BIG fan of quince past, especially with some crackers and sharp cheese. For those who don't know, or do not want the imported sugar/gelatin saturated quince paste, here is the recipe. On a day where you are stuck inside, or in a close area outside because this takes time, take a SH*T load of quinces, most of them ripe or almost ripe (one or two greenish ones won't hurt) peel, core and chop them up, put in a heavy stainless steel pot or a slow cooker with a dribble of water, and cook on low. Stir every few minutes the whole time. Start with the lid on and remove lid about half way through. Finished past is darkish brown with a hunt of burgundy. Bottle in sterilized jars and place in fridge. I find popping them in the microwave for 20 seconds on high steralises the top and gives them a longer shelf life. After opening replace remainder back in the fridge. Other uses, besides cheese although if you want to do a really nice high tea that's where it will go, in Bread and Butter pudding, spread over slow cooked lamb or hoget, cheese tarts, baked pears and meat patties .
The beds look great. I haven’t seen a quince tree in many many years. I’m trying to work out how and where I can put a loquat tree and a puffy skin mandarin here in my yard🍺🍺
