    I have the sponge brush, I found it for around $3 on eBay. I think it was Moyra that first came out with it for gel polish gradients. With gel polish you can wash out the sponge tips with alcohol. I also didn't have any issues with getting the sponges out or any flecks of sponge on my nails. 😊

    This answered my question about changing out the sponge tip. No way could I do that with tacky nails! Thanks for saving me the $$$ and the hassle!

    I really like the way gradients come out with ordinary, good-quality (but not beauty-blender expensive) cosmetic sponges- and that you can just snip and reuse- so when I saw these sponge tools I really didn't understand them! Your review pretty much confirms my immediate bias :D

    @mtlycru85 Před 6 lety +2

    Use it for glitter burnishing then you won’t have to change the sponge as often. I still want this just for glitter burnishing with gel polish. And because I’m obsessed with nail art tools... even if I don’t need them! Haha

    Great review. This is the exact experience I had with this sponge tool. I thought it was just me, but now I think it must be the sponge. I went back to using a regular cosmetic sponge too.

    Thank you for your honesty! I was this close to buying a few of those. I’ve learned that having the coolest new tools, polishes, pigments, decals ect. Isn’t always better. I have a big problem with seeing all the new nail stuff coming out and feeling like i need it when in reality i just watched you create a beautiful design with on the shelf polish and a make up sponge! Great job. Im going to do it now!!

    I have one of those and i was able to clean it with acetone, i first soaked the sponge and then dabbed it on paper multiple times. It worked but i am still struggling with gradients .

    • @JauntyJuli
      @JauntyJuli  Před 6 lety

      Interesting! I tried removing the excess polish on a paper towel and soaking the sponge in nail polish remover and it started to dissolve! I guess the sponge I got was extra low quality! 😅

  • @jenlaesch
    @jenlaesch Před 6 lety +1

    What I have seen the sponge tool used for was more advanced gradients or airbrush effects with nail vinyls. It seems more precise application is needed around the lateral folds of the nail?

  • @mookzmom

    So glad to see someone reviewing this, as I was considering getting some. It seems like the replacement sponge tips are almost as expensive as getting a new tool, so I was leery. Think I’ll just stick with the makeup sponges I can get at the dollar store. Your nails turned out so dang pretty, though! Thank you!

    U think that areo sponge tip thing is probably better with gel (which i've seen on ig) since you flash cure it and it's easier to build up.

    This product makes me so mad. I appreciate your honest review since other influencers have failed to do that since it looks “more professional” than a 20 pack of reusable cosmetic sponges, that work better.

    How on earth do you get an even application with these sponges? Try as I might I cannot. I get uneven stipply effects. Do you think it is the quality of the sponge? I got my from Amazon, and it just doesn't work. Any advice please. Would love to conquer this.

    I only have one question: why the hell does anyone use traditional nail lacquer anymore? It takes so long to dry! You can do gradients with gels and they cure in 60 seconds, 120 max.
    With everything else I have to do, including the acrylic fill or set, I simply don’t have the time - or the patience to be perfectly honest.
