Nassau Inter-County Express, also known as NICE Bus, has listed it's next set of auctions for scrapped buses and vehicles from its fleet. In this auction, there are 27 Orion 7 Next Generation buses, both 1700s and 1800s, which are included and have been out of service since last year and this year. Like previous auctions, many of the buses in this lot have broken windows, missing engine components, dashboards torn apart, and panels hanging from the ceiling. While every bus is listed for parts with their true mileage unknown and their overall condition as "poor", it is a different sight from just a few years ago when these vehicles made up the majority of the fleet and kept Nassau's bus system running with the Orion V buses being decommissioned. These were also the newest buses in the fleet at the time that MTA Long Island Bus ceased operations in 2011 and the system moved under Veolia's operation in 2012. Most of the 1700s have already been auctioned off over the last few years as the fleet has changed to buses manufactured by New Flyer and Gillig. In this auction, buses 1714, 1723, 1733, 1741, 1753, 1761, 1763, 1765, 1768, 1790, 1797, 1798, 1799, 1800, 1801, 1802, 1805, 1808, 1807, 1809, 1816, 1823, 1825, 1826, 1827, 1828, and 1838 are listed for sale. Three Ford Transit vans, two maintenance box trucks, and two ford explorers are also listed. For anyone who is interested in exploring the auction more or bidding on it, the buses can be viewed at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford and the auctions are planned to close on May 31st.
