Being born and raised in Neukölln, I knew most of the places shown, although many have changed through the years. Already during the first seconds, I saw the underground station where I left the train on my way to middle school and I even spotted the middle school my mother went to...

I use to live in Neukölln on karl-marx. I loved it there.. Miss it. Huge melting pot. I met allot of cool people.. Kurds.. Turks.. Africans... The German people treated me awesome!!! Thanks for posting this!!!

War nur mal ein Tag in Berlin, kenne mich daher nicht wirklich aus, aber vom hören-sagen habe ich mir Neukölln deutlich schlimmer vorgestellt, sieht eigentlich ganz ok aus
Neukölln ist groß und schön. Also nicht alles von den Nachrichten repräsentiert den ganzen Bezirk. 👌
Die Nachrichten filmen für Neukölln ein oder zwei Straßen, ein paar arabische Ladenschilder und stellen das ganze dann als Klein-Mogadischu dar. Neukölln ist in den allermeisten Ecken nett und schön, viele ALtbauten. Nord-Neukölln ist etwas voll, laut und hat viele Hipster, das wars dann aber auch.

Ich wohne seit Jahren so ungefähr in der schlimmsten Gegend. In meinem Haus wohnen etliche deutsche Rentner, auch ein türkisches Rentnerpaar, eine Familie von ethiopischen Christen usw. Niemand scheint irgendein Problem mit Kriminalität auf der Straße zu haben. (Wir hatten allerdings mal Diebstähle durch einen deutschen Nachbarn...) Manchmal fragt man sich aber, ob es auf der Karl-Marx-Straße überhaupt noch eine Straßenreinigung gibt, und vor geschlossenen Läden (wegen der großen Dauerbaustelle auf der Karl-Marx-Straße) richten sich schnell Obdachlose häuslich ein und werden anscheinend geduldet. Erinnert mich manchmal an Filmszenen aus New York.
Es gibt definitiv Kriminalität. Da sind ein paar Läden, die verdächtig aussehen. Eine türkische Mutter hat mir mal erzählt, dass sie nicht gern in Neukölln wohnt, weil sie Geschichten mitbekommt, von denen als Deutscher nichts höre. In einem Kriminalfall vor ein paar Jahren spielte eine Pistole eine Rolle, die bei einem Hehler bei mir in der Nähe gekauft worden war. Aber im Alltag hat man normalerweise nichts damit zu tun.
Ich wohne sehr gerne in Neukölln, weil hier der Umgang unter den Menschen viel freundlicher ist. Da spricht schon mal die deutsche Kassiererin bei Aldi die Kopftuchtürkin an: "Wie geht es denn Ihrem Mann? Den hab ich schon länger nicht mehr gesehen." Und mitten in Neukölln, zwischen den großen Häusern versteckt, gibt es ein das alte Dorf Rixdorf, wo heute noch viele Mitglieder der Böhmischen Brüdergemeine leben, teils noch tschechische Nachnamen haben und besondere Traditionen pflegen. Und nebenbei christlich-muslimischen Dialog betreiben.
Das böhmische Dorf wird sicher auch die Gentrifizierung überleben, aber um den Rest darum herum ist es schade.
Hättest an einem Samstag filmen müssen das repräsentiert Neukölln mehr.

From London Brixton UK. I am moving to Berlin. My German uk friends, move to charlottenburg. , me: I want to live in the edgy part of Berlin. This is where I am moving to.
Move to Neukölln, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain or Prenzlauer Berg. All of the city districts mentioned merge seamlessly from west berlin to east berlin and offer what you are looking for. Neuköln and Kreuzberg have the largest proportion of international students, migrants and drug dealers (lol) in Friedrichshain are most of the clubs (Heil Lockdown, Thanks Merkel) and in Prenzlauerberg it is more of a mixture of all-German high society and students, less edgy but still very cool Corner there.

Neukölln is lovely. It's where I've been living for over 4 years. It's multicultural, action-packed, and it's got some nice places to chill and hang out, I mentioned those things as well in the video. Yes, statistically, Neukölln isn't placed highly, but it still has other great things to offer :)

Mostly accurate description of Neukölln. I lived there for 10 years and fled to a more pleasant place. I never could could adapt to the dirt. In addition I got a lot of negative vibes against me from muslim population. I was shocked, because I was always a leftist and I never was angry against foreigners before. So, Neukölln teached me a lesson. I belong to a group of people who is hated by muslims, christians, patriots and the rest. And every group believes to be the best. What a joke.
Which group you belong to?
The residents of neukolln appreciate the diversity of people, shops, restaurants and cultures. It's a part of Berlin that is affordable to live in.

I personally don't like Berlin. Is it the population, the weather or the dialect? No, it's the ugly graffiti on every corner you look. That sh*t is so hideous. Don't get me wrong, I do like graffiti if it's actually a work of art (which it can be). But these are just meaningless and unesthetic scribblings everywhere you look. Looks scruffy as hell. A world metropolis like Berlin deserves better. They should get rid of this mess.
