Black/gold custom here too. $300 used @lgs, oem as-new closet queen Schecter Tempest case off of Craigslist for $80 a few years later. The case inspection label had the same year date stamp as the guitar serial number. Anyone who has played it has been absolutely stunned. Most didn't know Schecter at all.
I have the older Tempest, has two volume, two tone (which both have coil taps). Great guitar. I use it for southern rock and blues. My tempest custom is beautifully done in sunburst….immaculate finish.

@@GerryTrevino I call it my Les Paul killer. It's just as good but cheaper, weighs less and is more ergonomic. That being said I still love Les Pauls. I would rather own 2-3 schecters than a Gibson. I kinda that way.
I have the newer version like the one you held up. SD designed pickups . I’ve heard they are hit and miss on the windings, but mine are sweet so I potted them, no other mods. but mine is at least 15 years old now. It’s the only electric guitar I’ll ever need or want. I think it’s perfect in every way. It’s sounds good even when it’s not plugged in. Honestly, it picked me. I was reluctant at first to even look at it. But it was love at first note. I actually thought initially that it looked to good to be true.
I have a 2008 model black/gold tempest custom. It has Seymour Duncan pickups and Grover Tuners. It is a great guitar for metal. Your demo playing was awesome, thought I was listening to avenged sevenfold for sure! 💯👍😁
@@GerryTrevino Duuuude I think that you'd definitely dig that model. It's deceptively awesome! Those Fullerton pickups give you one idea & after you dial in a tone It's crazy awesome!
Thanks Gerry!! I've been looking for that "LP" style, as you said, and am eyeing this Tempest... as my 3rd Schecter, lol !! I have the Custom Solo Blackjack which is insane! But looking to get that PAF Sound, like the LPs, SGs, etc. I've checked out Gibons and Epi's, which are nice to strum, and I always say I'm going to get one, but everytime I go to the GC to get one, I just can't do it! But with my last two Schecters, it was "oh yeah, this is the one for me"

I'm checking one out at a GC tomorrow. Same color but with different inlay pattern. I've owned 2 Schecter's prior but sold them off due to upgrading gear and I liked how they felt and played. Do you think the $1,149 price tag is fair for this model? Appreciate your review.
Awesome! Yeah, while it might seem disheartening to see the price tag go up a little, truth be told the cost of a lot of the materials and things needed to make these imported guitars has gone up ever since the pandemic and that's now going to reflect the price of these instruments from really any company for a the next few years to come. That being said, if you're looking for an LP guitar without paying the LP price, this is definitely worth it! @@GerryTrevino Gerry, I'm digging your EP! I picked up the Tempest yesterday and I frickin' love it. Does the older one with the yellowing white custom have locking tuners? I wish I bought it 10 years ago but bout a Lea Paul that I had to sell for family reasons. Is it as heavy as a Les Paul?
Oh that's a great question that I unfortunately don't have they answer to. If you email tech@schecterguitars.com, I'm sure they can give you that info. Tell them that Gerry sent ya! I have one of those black ones with the gold hardware. The bridge pickup always sounded weird to me. After at least 10 pickup changes i discovered that the problem is where it was placed.
