Heartbeat does in fact slow down when "it" comes into focus. Snipers talk about it. Their heartbeat just slooooows down before talking the shot. Your beyond relaxed it's unreal. Only happened to me ONCE while underwater my heart rate physically slowing down. A weird and at the same time wonderful feeling. I had reached that "zone" if you will which had me successfully swim longer than than any other time in my life. You won' t believe me but how far can you swim underwater in 7 minutes? Never happened again. Not that day when I tried again, not the next. Never.

It happened me when i got in car accident. One night when i was at work as car driver, out of nowhere some bastard came to my lane and i had to drive to the ditch. I remember that i looked to the mirror and saw that other car passing me and there was an inch between us. Everything slowed down in that moment. It was too strange for me to understand.
