It really looks quite impressive. I've spent a lot of time costumizing Xfce, but there were things I couldn't ever get to work, like the global menu.Panel arrangment, system fonts, everything looks very well thought

My Zorin os (customized) runs butter fast and has not given me any problems (daily driver) highly recommend

The Italians are known for design beauty. As for efficiency, it does look like a nice allrounder distro (let's not go down the rabbit hole of "I like my distro to have everything out of the box" and " I want as close to vanilla as possible)... But the main point is, I think this is really the right way to go with free OS'... Let it be free - you want additional support?, great, throw in a buck or two. That's a proper way the world should function, IMHO.

You do very good demos, and I appreciate you and the work you do. I liked to look of this distribution, so decided to try it on live hardware. The live DVD booted, but the installer locked up because the "auto mount" feature from Ubuntu kept remounting my data drive and thus I could not set the /home mount point. This is not the first time real world hardware has problems with distributions and brother do I bless the test bed system for keeping me out of trouble with our daily driver systems.
This looks too good and professional while also being lightweight. Considering to install this on my old laptop right now. It's nice to know that this is used at schools, I wish we used Linux at schools in my country too :/
The only thing I don't like about this distro is Google Chrome and Microsoft stuff, but as you said it's easy to uninstall them. Great video as always!

At least you have schools with computers. Or even schools. Where I went to school we had no computers, just decade old books with incorrect science theories in them. Great thing about America though is the horrible education system and toxic society. It's fascinating watching first hand the process of an aggressive global superpower turning into a third world country to m itself as in it collapses. Not a quick process by any means but a fascinating stain upon human history, and we get to be a part of it.
Very True, I have been into it for the past few years. And YES! This is one beautiful distro, performance oriented and excellent in all respects. Very low exposure was there in YT for the past couple of years....
Well it is on my radar now and will stay there. They are doing an outstanding job.

I like it. It gives me classic late 2000s Apple vibes. Nostalgia. I do have a 2009 Mac mini that could go for an up to date OS. I think this may be it.
Chrome as a default is a blessing for average Joe. I know people that love Chrome and refuse to try anything else. For me? never.

@@eBuzzCentral Hey Troy...the only problem I've had with this OS so (and I love it) is that I can't figure out how to access my Windows shares. If samba is not in the system I'm at a loss where to get it onto the PC I have Moddicia on.

Its my daily driver since 2018.. what a charm. Before that it was linux mint. After dual booting this OS, hardly used LM.

But I like checking out different distros I find some nice softwares hopping around I donât know about. Stacer looks nice. Not sure what bluegriffen is but Iâll check it out later. Great Video. Havenât used XFCE in a while. Mostly on Plasma or OpenBox.
Iâve ram Arch Arch based and Debian Based primarily and Ubuntu for some reason is the one I have the most hiccups in. Not sure if why but I end up running into issues. Ima little more

@@eBuzzCentral Easy install no issues , it runs smooth. It reminds me Mac OS which isn't bad. Not to familiar with a lot of the software on here, but will go through it later and see if theres anything id want to change on my current system. I mostly just browse the Apps/Programs, as I don't know the names for all of them, but I usually find some good stuff in there that I would rather have than what I have. I still think Nomacs is the better the Image Viewer I have stumbled upon. Stacer is really nice never heard of that before either.
The French have the distro Emmabuntus targeted to a similar audience which looks beautiful and is loaded with packages.
I agree that is a great distribution, I just don't think it is aesthetically pleasing as this one. But both of them are nice

I own nothing but ancient computers with only 2GB. My favourite OS in terms of low memory usage and sufficient good looks and performance is Peppermint OS.
I'm using Peppermint OS 7, which is a fairly old version, based on Ubuntu. The current version is Debian based. It's definitely worth trying out if you have limited RAM.
AntiX is alright but truly looks dated and plain Jane in comparison to Peppermint OS.

I had the impression that it is difficult to use or did not have some basic features (such as an address bar in the file explorer). So I abandoned the idea of using it. However, I have downloaded the latest ISO two weeks ago in order to install it on a virtual machine to make a webserver for an .onion webpage. And I discvered that it was not as I innitially had the impression. For example, another thing I could not manage to do was to access some local drives of system folders. Actually it was me who did not know how to do it. I figured out how to do these things by tinkering with the system. There is need to âsudoâ or login as root in a root console in order to do things that required root privilege.So it was a matter of security of the system. And now I LOVE ANTIX! Linux Mint is great, but for old machines it is too bloated for a Linux beginner. So now, Antix is my distro of choice for computers with less than 2 Gb of RAM. It takes less than 100 Mb of RAM in startup (in the VirtualBox VM).

Currently as of 5 mins ago (thank you for heads up) running a live version on a 2013 Mac Air and it DOES look and feel great. I for one am glad about Chrome being installed, and I would be happy to see Edge there as well. Will probably have a copy alongside Win11 on my desktop PC. I think it was well worth making the $31 AU donation as I did. Modicia may well supplant Win11 as my daily driver.

Further to Mac Air I did a dual boot install and Modicia has not disappointed. Most impressive distro I have ever tried. A keeper for sure.
You lost me at Microsoft One Drive. I refuse to have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING by Microsoft as well as any distro that includes anything by Microsoft, I don't care if I can remove it -- and I do know how, but that's beside the point.

Onlyoffice may have better compatibility with docx/etc... But LibreOffice is more feature rich and actually integrates with the system (theme)
The new release of only office in mid May, greatly expands the feature set and automatically integrates to your theme of your operating system.

Looks very bloated to me, I guess it depends on your edition choice but to me it tries too hard to be all things to all people and we've seen a great many distros fail because of that. Plus I dislike 2 panel GUIs, they waste a lot of screen real-estate when a simple task bar will do perfectly. It looks nice but in practice just as clumsy as OS X that it mimics.
That's the beauty of linux, there's something for everybody, what you don't like somebody else will
@@eBuzzCentral I 100% agree. I am a huge fan of the gui Mate, that's not for everyone I would love to see something like this with like a minimal distro. Don't get me wrong I love Mint, in fact I prefer it over plain Debian but this distro just has a polish that's impressive. I love the wallpaper pack too. I just know how well these dual panel GUIs get in the way of productivity.
@@JM-tj5qm I don't get your logic but your allowed your own opinion. I am just stating mine. Anything beyond a simple task bar/start menu is in my opinion a waste of precious space. Think back with gnome 2.x.. that had at it's default two bars but you could delete the bottom bar and include the functionality in to the top bar, thus saving a little bit of space. But you can't do that here. Your pretty well stuck with an unnecessarily inefficient two panel paradigm. That's my opinion based on facts. Just because it's used in schools doesn't mean anything. In fact it probably means the school isn't focused on efficiency nearly as much as they should because most of them are probably stuck with low resolution bum screens making that two panel gui even more inefficient. I just like GUIs that stay out of the way and I would think most people would. To me, it's highly illogical and I can't get a good work flow out of them. I sympathize with people who love tiling managers by the way, it's not for me but in the right configuration it makes even a one panel approach inefficient. That GUI is beautiful though. I just think as I said before it's inefficient and pointed our why. Works for you, that's great man and it's not the worst features that a GUI could have. It just isn't for me.

Got it installed no problems runs great I love it. Only issue I have is it looks so small and I can't find where to fix the font size. It was easy to fix in ubuntu just hit enlarge text in settings. Anyone know how to fix this?

Everybody have different taste when it come to UI design, for me I put this distribution in the same category as garuda or endeavour os .... is bloated the choices of themes and icons is debatable as best. Frankly nothing impressive. Sleek and snappy distributions like SolusOS with Budgie are much more attractive for me.

I always wanted NETRUNNER- cause it has everything I need CONFIGURED in it already-- like it was MADE for me-- and i couldn't use it because Firefox always caused Telegram to open up inside it-- SO _ installed the program- then REMOVED Firefox FIRST- before doing anything- and it worked-- now I have Libre wolf and Brave- and everything else the same-- LOVE IT- it's quick- does exactly what I want- and is GORGEOUS... FAST too--

I really wish that I can migrate my Thinkpad to this kind of Distro, sadly I'm stuck with Windows because my job requires me to use Microsoft Office, and seeing that mine comes with Nvidia Optimus (Intel GMA+Nvidia Quadro NVS 5400M) it was too painful to try to make it work.
I have intel/Nvidia with no issues, plus MS office you can use online.
@@eBuzzCentral I know, but mine is an old Optimus model that Nvidia doesn't support anymore. A quick internet search told me I have to use Bumblebee for it to work. It's too much down time for me to consider
You dont need MS Office.... You are aware MS Word is just a digital Typewriter...there are OTHER Digital TypeWriters: Apples Pages, LibreOffice, WPS Office, SoftMaker Office, Only Office. Word is just the most famous one. all these others can save in MS Word Format. WPS Office for Linux is free and the Most MSOffice, Excel and PowerPoint Compatible out of all the others. Try them!
I installed Modicia on my old pc and had a problem with the terminal part of it. When it asked for your pin number it wouldn't print in. After trying different ways to put in the pin# I had to uninstall it and try another distro. Has anybody else have this problem?
Download the ISO again and check with MD5 that it is the perfect ISO. If the problem continues you have to do the installation with the PC offline and you will see that it does not ask you. It is a conflict with ReSync that happens a few times. Just install with the PC off the net then everything is ok.
Is there a Linux distro that can run right on a Chromebook alongside the normal Chrome OS in order to potentially circumvent occasional chromeOS based Linux hiccups that occurs with new versions of chrome OS?
Chrome OS 101 on two Chromebooks broke a few Linux apps/games and while I've reported them, who knows when they'll be fixed

It could be the right choice for some people, but I'm confused why people are saying there's anything new here. Looks like a dated macos-themed xfce desktop on top of a bloated distro with redundant and proprietary tools.
Interesting OS. I installed it on a VM and set it to auto login . Now I'm stuck with a locked Keyring. Tried setting it to manual login but that doesn't work and logout and in again doesn't unlock it. I'll do a reinstall with a manual login and see what happens.
Nice concept, but no luck even getting DNS to work out of the box. Also the keychane is totally mess-up from the install. My try again when things are fixed.

Just tried the latest copy of this and I can't understand your enthusiasm. It is STILL on Distro Watch's radar but not yet approved? I made the .iso DVD, loaded it and couldn't understand if it was just loading or actually installing it to disk. Could NOT find any way to exit it short of jabbing my PCs RESET button. Any digging around required a login and password, though NOWHERE in the boot up process was a clue given HOW to create a login OR password. It had them preset, apparently, but did not want to share. Thankfully, once I removed the DVD, that particular drive which I use for this sort of experimenting defaulted to the previously installed Debian 12.1. All in all, a pretty but clunky interface. Thanks, but I'll pass.
It's basically FOSS OSX for a PC... which means I will probably end up putting on a PC for a tech savvy aunt of mine who loves GIMP and is a fellow shutter bug, unless I sell said PC to a local college kid first...
Seems they are asking for $19 per month for the full version. That gets more expensive than windows pretty quick. But I will try the free. Ubuntu user as of now.
That's only if you use it for Enterprise for like schools and things like that. The addition I reviewed is totally free.

xfce major issue for me and i noticed you avoided it. grab a window border/corner and resize a window. harder than it should be. you stuck to maximise/minimize?
Because that's the way I utilize it, I very seldom grab a corner to make it bigger. But I am presently using storm OS xfce, but do not have issues with it.

Well it's got an Ubuntu base so it's going to be a long-term support kernel
I HAVE the most complete os- and it's TITAN.. and DEBIAN- just perfect in every way-- no Ubuntrash in it... :) (sorry, had to..) I have my TITAN working beautifully- perfect- no glitches AT ALL-- and I did that in less than 2 hours with me adding a good bit of stuff.. and if a 66 years old dumb hillbilly can do it-- ANYONE CAN!!! NOTHNG against the rest- but TITAN has the number one spot!! :) OH- and they're working on a merch store- so you might want to check and see about affiliating with them.. that pegasus and logo would make a beautiful jackert, hoodie or something..

The problem with most Ubuntu based Distros is that they don't work on new hardware.
Didn't have a problem with it running on a Asus Zenbook

I didn't have to do anything I dropped it on a usb, booted up on the USB and it just worked

Im looking for a Linux distro that can run Android apps without putting codes or command prompt. One that I can install android apps just like that and run.

Dang it.. I was hoping i was NOT XFCE as that has audio and screen tearing issues. Crap..Maybe I can install MATE desktop on it. What Ubuntu version is it based on? 18.04 or 20.04?
The desktop environment should have nothing to do with screen tearing. That has to do with the compositor
@@eBuzzCentral When someone/the end user installs a new OS or be it a different Distro of Linux and they see Screen tearing... They wont care what the "technical reason" for it is.... bottom line is their OS has screen tearing. Windows OS and MacOS do not.
LOL... Really, I spent almost two weeks trying to fix screen tearing on my son's Windows gaming PC. Screen tearing exists on those os's, all you have to do is switch between Wayland or x11 and you should be able to fix that problem, it's rather simple even for a new user.
Looks like I've found the next OS to try out on one of my Frankenstein desktops.
This has Chrome as default browser, for Windows users with chrome, to browse the Modicia website you might want to use Edge or Firefox or another browser, ironically, because the Windows chrome browser might have a few issues with the site (even when I disabled all plugins, it just didn't want to work properly... but Edge and Firefox gave me no issues at all with the site).

I so want to try this OS, but there is like ZERO community support for it. Modicia is not even listed on DistroWatch. If you search for Modicia you get about 8 results.
I hope Modicia takes off, but for now I will stick with Mint.
Takes off? MODICIA O.S. is currently installed in over 12 schools and institutes, in total over 1,700 students use it every day. And it is based on LTS Ubuntu, what else do you need? Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu...

Was interested; however via the "Downloads" link I was held to ransom by being told to make a donation before any download links were revealed. No thanks, I need to check it out before making any "donation". Next thing I tried was pressing the "Community" button which led me to a link to a Mediafire website, which insisted on putting up a very large "Cookies" dialogue box and absolutely would not allow me to decline the "legitimate interests" sliders on the menu. So unless I agree to all Mediafire cookies I cannot download the .iso file at all. Stop press, I did manage to get the distro downloaded by using a vpn to spoof that I was in Canada rather than UK. I only had a few minutes but quite liked what I saw but was stunned to find no terminal emulator. Easily solved, loaded Terminator from the included Synaptic Package Manager. Will spend more time when I can to have a deeper insight. Regards.

Lovely looking distro, shame the developers don't offer a more reduced version. I found at least 49 apps/programs I would never use and thought as an experiment I would try deleting these to see what effect if any this had.
Hi, I am seeking 64 bits ubuntu based distributions that are lightweight, do you have any idea
lightweight and Ubuntu really don't go hand in hand, I would try something like Titan Linux which just came out and is based on Debian, I did a video on it a week ago, go check it out.
@@eBuzzCentral the problem with debian-based distros is that i can't install my p1102 laserjet hp printer, they propose a tool called cups but i simply can't install it
Why can't you install it?
@@eBuzzCentral cups is default tool for adding a new printer, I think that it doesn't detect the hp printer, the interface is a bit annoying, comparing to Ubuntu or Linux mint for example, when adding a new printer, it automatically installs the drivers but on debian based distributions like knoppix for example it is quite difficult to install a printer

Looks nice, but; Does not automatically partition effectively, has keyring login issues, and sound problems... Easy fixes not found. OH, it also can take a long time loading up, and often hangs on shutdown or restart after initial installation. A beginner will dislike this Operating System because of these problematic issues.
It's good, but I'll keep my Mint/Cinnamon... :)
