A lot of discussion follows meta defining characters such as Ruan Mei, Seele, Kafka, Bronya, and many more. There are many teams that can be created in Honkai Star Rail v2.0, but only the strongest meet all the criteria to sit at the top in HSR's best 5 teams.

What's weird is that I always loved kafka/dots and was going to pull black swan, but just for fun. Never thought much of it as I have e1s1 jingliu, and ratio topaz, and mono quantum to carry me. But over the past month using e0s0 black swan e0s0 kafka I realized wait a minute this team is stronger than my jingliu team what is happening... it clears faster, even against non weak enemies, it is comfy, it is consistent. And the complaints about backloaded damage? The enemies are getting faster and faster which means more turns more triggers. Honestly blown away by black swans power
Black Swan enticed me to the dark side with her trial and now I'm getting my 5 year plan in place for the second Kafka rerun 😆 Though Swan is still killing it with Guinaifen/Sampo. I even emptied my Undying Starlight to get her E1, I enjoyed her playstyle that much. Biggest surprise enjoyment since I got an unexpected Blade (he does some crazy dmg numbers and I also love his playstyle)
This is actually something I noticed during MoC. For some reason, my Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei and Huohuo team cleared the first half of MoC way faster than my hypercarry team in the second half. Idk if it's because having Ruan Mei on your team just speeds up your characters or it's because Kafka and Black Swan are just an insane duo.

As someone thats been rocking Huohuo + Blade + Jingliu + Ruan Mei, it's actually so powerful. Huohuo cleansing, energy battery, and attack buff combined with her raw af healing is perfect

I do see that he uses sw in the video, although I have her, is that team viable? Unless I’m wrong, there is no source of healing in that team other than blade healing himself? I use Bailu as the 4th member for healing, I dont have huohuo so idk if there is are better replacements

Black lotus is a really good name for the dot team. But u could've also named it something like black widow because it falls in theme with kafka being like a spider and the team being kind of like a reference to a spiders venom that kills their prey over time just like how dot stands for damage over time

Not putting a DHIL team on a top 5 list even pre sprarkle is kinda wild. U asked for units that synergize with DHIL - Pela,Tingyun, Hanya, e6 Yukong.
Also, for jingliu, her hypercarry team with bronya is just better than blade JL dual carry. Plus, i think i would put Jing Yuan hypercarry over the herta himeko comp. Herta himeko is good on PF but not so much on MOC.
Thank you for leaving a comment on the video, Delta. To give it to you straight, just telling me those characters isn't telling me what the synergy is between them. I know they buff his DMG (like every Harmony does), but what do any of those 4 characters do specifically that helps Daniel get 3SP attacks every single time he attacks without sacrificing anything else on the team? That's the major criteria here that everyone seems to just be throwing out of the window.
Hanya might work because of her skill's effect, but I've yet to see any consistency behind those two alone. It's always "then you add XYZ for the DMG and SP generator", which goes into "This is just the standard hyper carry concept".
E6 Yukong is possible, but she has more synergy with Clara being able to hold the buff during the entire enemy's turn and then some. So DHIL lost to Clara.
Jing Yuan's synergy isn't actually a synergy. It's just buffing the heck out of him to get more DMG. Tingyun, Asta, and Pela do the same thing for him that they do for anyone. It's not unique, which was the first criteria I spoke on at the beginning of the video. Himeko + Herta is great in PF & MoC, since the criteria is 3c or less, which they are capable of doing without much extra work. It's not like I need them to 0c MoC to be here.
Lastly, I already addressed the Jingliu comment, but in short, the Hypercarry Jingliu team was supposed to be in the same slot as the JingBlade team, since they are close together in terms of performance. You'll have to go look for the other comments I responded to about Hyper Jingliu to read the full details, if you want.

@@Iyoverse alrit ill expand on why the characters are good for dhil. Apologies in advance for the essay.
Ting - Allows DHIL to have faster ults. Faster ults mean more of special skill points that can used for his 3BA. Also, Tingyun her self is a +1 SP positive unit(over a 3t rotation) which plays well into DHILs SP hungry nature.
Pela- +3 SP positive over 3t which helps u funnel SP points into DHIL. She is more SP positive than even sparkle on a DHIL team. She can also apply a aoe def shred which boosts DHILs dmg. She is not solely there as a SP generator. Its just one part of her kit.
Hanya is self explanatory so i wont go into detail about her.
E6 Yukong- She has a img dmg% trace thats synergistic with any img dps. Her Ult buffs arent had to manage cuz DHIL dosnt have any out of turn dmg like Ratio. And Yukong can be played SP neutral. Is she as synergistic with DHIL as with Clara ? Maybe not. But still, she is synergistic to a very good extent.
I get your point when u say X dps + Ting + Pela + sustain more of a bandaid situation than a real synergistic team but u have to consider that if that Dps + Ting + Pela + Sustain bandaid team (dps in this instance is referring to DHIL) performs better than 95% of the teams that have acual synergy, the fact of its a bandaid team or not shouldnt matter to a top 5 list.
For instance, if a character comes out that destroys everything in one hit and the other 3 units of the team are there to just provide SP, would u put that team in the vid or not ? Cuz from where im standing, that team will be the most broken best team in the game even tho the other 3 units of the team does almost nothing but stand there and use basics.
As for what u said about Jing yuan, that can be said for any hypercarry cuz buffing the heck out of one unit is the definition of a hypercarry comp. The mono quantum team u meantioned also fits the same bill. Its a team where u buff the heck outta Seele. Also, u didnt consider the scenario where the enemies dont have fire or ice weaknesses. While Jing yuan can easily work well even without lightning weak enemeis, Himeko herta is not like that. They take a very big hit if the enemies are not weak to either element.
As for the Jingliu comp, her hypercarry team does exactly what u said Asta,Tingyun and Pela does for JY. Bronya and RM buffs the heck out of her. So by using the same logic u stated in the portion about Jing yuan, can u not say that Jingliu hypercarry isnt synergistic and just buffing the heck out of the unit ? Doesnt that go against your reasoning that u used against JY hypercarry ?
In conclusion, my argument is that the teams dont need to synergize 1:1 in order to be a top 5 team in the game. At the end of the day , imo, for a team to be in a top 5 list, all that matters is how much dmg u do and how fast u do it in a realistic setting with reasonable investment. The synergy between the units is just a sub criteria that can help the team to get a higher dps. Its a nice to have but not a need kind of thing and I have also provided how DHIL and his teams have at least some synergy.

I have yet to find a double dps team that I like, so far hypercarry has been the most fun for me. Blade with jingliu is touching my heart a little. I'm going to try herta with himeko because I love follow up..
Kinda funny that I use both team 1 and 2 as my "main" teams now. The biggest problem is to decide which one of them that get Ruan Mei.

Finally got Ratio combat ready and he did not dissappint! Got his e2 Silverwolf partner and his chalk is popping off left and right 😆. I also have half of the dot team (lost Kafka to Welt the first time and baby ice boy the second 🙈) and half of Blade Liu (no ice, so I sub Herta/Jing Yuan/Xueyi depending on enemy types).
My goals for upcoming banners are JY light cone, Topaz (also lost out to Welt) and eventually Kafka. Though I'm thoroughly enjoying the mix and match playstyle I have right now. Also enjoy the end game rotation and their events so far have been super engaging (part combat, part world expanding). Fingers crossed they bring out a hunt focussed end game next 🤞🏻

The waifu gaslight is crazy. Dhil with e6 tingyun n yukong n e0 huohuo is at least top 3 strongest teams in the game.

The criteria used to judge in this video and list are "efficient, unique synergy between a core of characters, they must execute their desired functions without theneed to sacrifice the kit. And lastly they can clear MoC in 3 cycles or less on average." With this metric in mind and the fact that it's his list id say it's pretty fair.

Black Swan and Kafka don't even need RM to do insane damage. Their synergy is just THAT good!
Did a 0 cycle in MoC 12 first half with E1S1 Kafka, E1S1 BS, E6 Asta with S5 DDD, and E6 Tingyun with S5 DDD.
I know I have two S5 DDD so I'm sorry if it's not relatable, the game kept giving me DDD from standard and also got them from LC banners.
Edit: I do have RM, she's occupied in my other team for 2nd half of MoC 12, but yes she is amazing with BS and Kafka!
RM is just an icing on a cake, what I really like in their synergy is that after enemies skip their turn with RM flower the dots trigger once come, it is really powerful.
RM still provides atleast 15~ % DMG buff to that (having Kafka provides 20% DMG buff to the team for reference). That's a 0 cycle because both chars were E1S1 + S5 DDD. With Ruan Mei, u don't even need all that. Just E0 chars with 4* LCs can 0 cycle MoC. That's a amount of diff she causes. RM causes DoT to reach sky high.

@@Glast04 if u are F2P and going for a Kafka team so u skip everything until those then yeah, but i think most players go for E0, maybe E0S1 but E1S1 is a really big commitment. I do get your point in regards to 4* but I'll never say I'm relatable if i have Eidolons and 5* limited LCs. As the matter of facts i went to my account and check i have TY E6 with a S5 DDD and E6 asta and one DDD S3 lv1 but i don't have Kafka or BS.
I'm super happy I moved away from the hypercarry meta, and love that my 3 teams are your #1, #2, and #4 - I'm passing on Sparkle and Acheron and saving for E1 Aventurine, maybe S1 as well to make the FUA team perfection.
As much as I want everyone to pull Acheron, I respect choosing to stick to your FUA guns and getting E1 Aventurine for your Topaz. That is true dedication.
@@Iyoverse I'm moving away from hyper carry teams as well. I personally chose a goal for my account. I'll only stick to DoT and FUA teams, for the remainder of the game. Hyper-focusing on just a few playstyles will make room for me to invest vertically as well.
I have the best Kafka team, so now I'll get Topaz and Aventurine. I guess we're missing a second top Harmony for Dual-Teams now, a 2nd Ruan Mei. But I had a dream, that Robin might fit that bill 😉

What I found interesting is how good Xueyi Topaz functioned for me on fire+quantum weak deer. Since Topaz and Numby are separate attacks, Xueyi's follow-up stacks really fast. Did the deer in like 3 cycles with pretty terrible investment (on dr ratio MoC). Not sure as to how much of a quantifier it is, but that team just felt really good in practice (Ruan Mei FX Topaz Xueyi). I don't even have e6 xueyi yet.

I remember when I discovered Jing/Blade combo. Great on SP, massive damage, throw in pela or a buffer with HuoHuo and I'm all good!
Personally, missed opportunity to call Black Swan and Kafka comp as Black Widow because of Kafka's spider motif. Good video still.
I didn't realize how good Dr. Numby is, I'll definitely be using them as my B team. My A team is Firefly, Boothill, Ruan Mei or harmony mc, and Loucha, although I'm building Gallager because you recommended it. I might see how Lingsha is before I spend too many resources on him tho. I hope you make an updated video once a few more characters come out.

As much as i had fun doing dual dps, as a Jingliu main, seeing that kind of a jingliu team is atrocious. Like what on earth is the purpose of SW on that team? She aint doing jack. To implant Wind Weakness? Doing a Jingliu setup like that, imo, is purposely inting. Its like bruteforcing but backwards

Speaking of strong teams, I need some suggestions for future pulls.
My most used 5 stars are Blade, Bronya, Ruan mei (all with sig LC), Dr.Ratio and SW.
I currently have 180+ pulls and I want to get acheron with LC and in the near future Jingliu with LC to use her with blade and ruan.
Do y'all think what I said is worth it because I'm going to skip sparkle and I still don't have a 5* sustain. Thank you in advance
This is exactly why i wish i didnt lose 50/50 on Ruan Meis banner. She is just so busted that you most likely wont ever see a team without her. She icreases team dmg by so much that dual dps can out dmg hypercarry.
Sadly having to stick to Topaz, Dr. Ratio, SW, and Fu Xuan. Not having any signature LC for the Hunt path hurts. Sure the free 5 star LC is fine but it doesnt increase your dmg by much at all. Gonna have to pull for Topaz LC when it comes back around

Criterias one and two have nothing to do with whether your team is the strongest imo. Calling it your top 5 favourite teams would be more accurate. Otherwise, you have to admit that Jingliu hypercarry has been consistently stronger than Jingliu-Blade in ~all setups except for Pure Fiction, though if we counted Pure Fiction, FuA team wouldn't even be in the conversation.
Respectfully, no. If I wanted a favorite teams, 75% of them would have Himeko on it. The criteria is valid for what it constitutes for and I even elaborated to make sure of that in that section.
@se You said in your vid title that you wanted to list the top 5 strongest teams in Honkai Star Rail. In that case, what do efficient, unique synergy cores and executing desired functions without kit loss have to do with strength? Strength is a measurement of capability, not synergy. The teams you pointed out do fulfil the first and second criteria you listed, but at the end of the day, there's no clear link between those criteria and strength. It's like in the real world -- when teams work together, it's the results that prove the strength of the team. In the same way, cycle clear amounts prove the team's strength in MoC. Wanting unique synergies is your own preference, not necessarily what results in faster cycle clears.
Maybe this will be clearer if I use a metaphor (bear with me, it might sound a bit ridiculous). Let's say that two teams of people are playing tug of war to decide who's the stronger team. The first team is made up of children who work perfectly well together who just happen to have the same pulling patterns, who pull at the same time, etc. You could say that they have great synergy as a team. Against them is a group of bigger kids who don't pull in a coordinated fashion. If the group of bigger kids wins, you'd still call them the stronger team because results are what matters with strength, not the process itself. Obviously, this isn't the exact case highlighted, but what I'm trying to show with this example that synergy isn't the same as strength unless it creates results. Results are the measurement of strength, and results in this case are faster cycle clears.
When it comes to clearing MoC in faster cycles, Jingliu hypercarry is easily stronger than Jingliu-Blade teams. This has been shown both in theory and practice -- see Prydwen's stats this MoC, for example, an MoC that doesn't even have ice weakness. The unique synergy where Jingliu allows Blade to trigger his FuA doesn't make up for the damage loss from not running Jingliu with yet another support. Because less damage is done, the team is weaker. If you titled the vid "the most synergistic teams in HSR", I wouldn't fault you for this.
After taking a closer look at your criteria, I've also realised that one of your top 5 teams is Herta and Himeko when one of your criterions is that they can "Clear MoC in 3 cycles or less". Can the average Herta-Himeko team really fit that criterion? Even your footage is from Pure Fiction, a mode that this team definitely excels at, but a mode that isn't mentioned in your criteria. It's inaccurate to include Herta-Himeko on this list when both of them were barely used this MoC, for example, and even then, they were rarely used with each other.
All the teams you listed are pretty good teams, but they're hardly the strongest imo and the Herta-Himeko one really doesn't fit your criteria. At the end of the day, strength is strength and you can't really redefine it with a set of criteria that make it mean something else. Otherwise, a team that fits your own personal criteria for "best" just makes it your favourite teams, which is why I said what I did in my original comment.
For dr. Ratio+topaz. Honestly without E1 or S1 topaz. Triggering dr. Ratio follow up is quite a struggle. U need ruan mei on constant ult to provide that 1 debuff. Otherwise u will get stuck on only 2 debuff on the enemies. While dr. Ratio technique does debuff the enemies but it doesn't last for long. So most of the time u will only have effect res reduce+numby debuff on the enemy most of the time. Unless u have either E1 or S1 topaz. This team is a way struggle team to use rather than pela+tingyun or pela+ruan mei.
hot take: i feel like DoT teams are low investment teams with one core in mind which is kafka cuz she procs that dot dmg. but the ceiling of DoT teams is not that high in fact i feel like we reached the peak of DoT teams unless theres a character that can buff dots AND atk like huo huo ( she only buffs atk not DoT plus gives spd with her e1).....so i think DoT teams are gonna be like this for awhile till some insane breakthrough came into play and make me eat my words up, nevertheless i do have a kafka in hand but little to no investment so one day when we get black swan re run il try the full potential myself or just pivot to FUA teams and go for dr numby

Ever since I pulled her I’ve paired March 7th and Clara. My main team now is Ratio - Topaz - March - Clara. In simulated universe March heals herself and all other teammates do on follow ups so it’s not necessary to have a healer.
It definitely helps that I have lost EVERY SINGLE 50/50 to Clara, she’s now at E5/S1. I have no Himeko Gepard or Bronya
Great list! I understand why you put all those teams on there and I even use the Jingliu/blade team. I was a little disappointed that DHIL teams were never mentioned. I’m not going to lie but it seems you really don’t like him. I even remember you complaining about DHIL when he first came out due to power creep but we’re fine with Jing Liu. Anyways that’s just my biased take so ofc don’t take my DHIL opinion as fact. I just find that he’s better than Jing Liu for me. Keep up the great videos!
I don't like DHIL's playstyle. Nowhere have I said I don't like him as a character and I wish you guys would stop pushing this agenda that I just hate DHIL. Daniel didn't make it in the top 5 teams because he didn't meet 2/3 of the criteria I stated in the beginning of the video. Had he done that, then he'd be in the list. If this was purely based on DMG (which it's not), then I'd have put him on the list.
I appreciate you enjoying the videos, 100%, but you've gotta start listening to me a little more and stop assuming these kinds of things because you don't see your favorite character in a list with given criteria.

You did just say you don’t like his playstyle whereas I do so obviously there’s biases for both of us and we just have to accept that. And sorry I should’ve been more clear in my original comment. I was simply surprised that he was not mentioned at all, not that he didn’t make the top 5. Based on your criteria I agree he wouldn’t make it because of his demanding playstyle.
There’s also no agenda that you hate DHIL. It’s just apparent that you don’t seem to like his gameplay and teams, which you confirmed in your reply.

Been obssesed with dot since the game launched didnt expect this much support this early but i must say im glad they have shown it so much love. Been runing kafka bs ruan mei and fuxuan and can confirm it is the best and most comfortable team for all content even over my e2 IBL. Now the hard decision save for archeon or grab sparkle.....

Glad to see Xueyi getting some play here. I realize alot of people dont have her E6 and she is hard to build, but if u can pull it off she is cracked and one of the funnest units to play.

As a 1.2 Kafka main I'm so happy to see her just go up and up, I pulled her cause I like her and DOTs and never did it expecting her to be so high in terms of meta cause her kit is very niche lmao

My personal favorite team to run is Lunae/Huohuo/Ruan Mei/Yukong. My Yukong is E6 so I play her differently than intended. I use her as a skill point generator outside of her ult unless I can spare a skill point without affecting Lunae’s ability to use his 3 SP attack. I will NOT give up Yukong. She always has a special place on my hypercarry teams.
Would topaz and ratio be fine even without topaz's LC, should i maybe slot in silver wolf or a dot or someone to make sure theres enough debuffs?

I'd say Black Widow just because it is a well known spider, but yeah I agree. Black Lotus is a cool name, but it doesn't have anything to do with Kafka. Mei does put a blossom over the enemies with her ult, so you could say that is the lotus 😂

I absolutely LOVE how strong dot teams got lol. Managed to pull E2 Kafka on her first banner and have been using her ever since, she's doing better in moc than my other dps's and also clears pure fiction with ease 🛐🛐 Kafka world domination
The one i use often is the Mono Quantum one, now elevated with Sparkle, and JingBlade, except I dont have Ruan Mei. Though I also regularly utilize a Crit Core comp with either Jingliu or DHIL but i get that aren’t applicable in this case. Nice video though, very reasonable
It is very fun and amusing that 2 very fun "niche" became the 2 best teams in the game

Playing this game and watching you reveal your top no. 1 team... And it is exactly what I'm using. I feel so good about my decision going for these characters.
I mostly just pulled for black swan cuz i'm a simp, i didn't think i was going to use her that much especially cuz i still don't have kafka, but i fell in love with her gameplay so fast and i use her basically all the time. Now i just need mother kafka.

Black Swan was the DoT DPS that Kafka needed to thrive. With her, my Kafka is doing consistent 100k+ ults. It's honestly crazy how much damage they do together. Been a Kafka DoT simp since her release now I can't wait for the next 5 star DoT dps
2nd place is actually wild the investment required is so much and I may be wrong, but the team isn't nearly as versatile as the other ones on the list
I don't recall versatility being one of the criteria, but to be fair... I'd like to know what other team in the game has more synergy than the Dr. Numby team (excluding Kafka Swan)?
@@Iyoverse ahh, I se. it's more focused on synergy between units/ kits. then I can understand the numby ratio followup into followup x4 being super synergistic I just feel calling it the 2nd "strongest team" is a bit much considering outside of MoC, it's pretty frail. Under the guidelines you set tho, it's definitely a goated comp

I've been a DHIL follower for the longest time now, I'm just finally happy that Sparkle is basically gonna complete his kit.

Great video! While I agree with nº2 spot, I think Topaz is being a bit overestimated on that team (when there's no fire weakness). I have all on the team at E0S0 and there's been many times where running a hyperbuff Dr. Ratio paid off way more (although not as fun xD). I'd love to deck out my own Topaz but dreams say that she'll be re-running next patch and Acheron will leave no stellar jades behind
You mentioned FX as the Topaz Ratio sustain, and in the video it's HH. Which would be better? Should I wait for Aventurine bc of the follow-ups, or is FX still best in slot?
black lotus sounds really crazy (i dont have black swan or kafka), but the team might not be that great against enemies that are not weak to wind or lightning
My top 4 teams in this game actually are Mono Quantum, Follow up with Numby Ratio, DoT and DHIL. But yeah for Dr. Numby to be relatable, Topaz really needs E1 S1. Otherwise you can't achieve a good DMG potential if you use a sustain for any reason. But I agree to this for the most part. And I have a feeling, DHIL Sparkle will shake things up.

Yep I expected this to be a very different take. But from the criteria you set out it's hard to argue. The one thing that I don't understand is Tingyun over Bronya in "Quantum Rangers". From my own time with Seele I think she's way better off with Bronya. As long as you can get some cheeky basic attack kills every now and then you don't run out of skill points. Sparkle will definitely throw a spanner in the works though, and it'll be interesting to see if Sparkle+Tingyun or Sparkle+Bronya could be a thing. I think if you can get the speed tuning right Seele can get up to 12 turns in the 0th cycle if you get resurgence every time. 🤯
Mark my words, Sparkle and Jing yuan will shake the meta
tbh i thought this was going to be the top 5 strongest after sparkle's since we already knew her kit lol dhil, sparkle, tingyun, and a sustain go crazy and have perfect synergy depending on the sustain also surprised jingliu and blade weren't slightly higher
The ipc team is gonna be so good. Topaz ratio and eventurine, we need one more ipc member that works with full follow up comp.

I like black widow for the Kafka Swan team, Kafka has webs and the "deadly venom" playstyle. Nah but this team is so fun, it's so nice to see the meta shift off of hypercarry.
Are we taking element weakness into account?
Because other than team 3 and 2 the other team look like they rely on element weakness and adding sw could cause a team to lose out on some of its dmg.

JingBlade is really nice to farm too, it's like a 2 Blade razor, Lynx is in my team instead of Silverwolf.
I'm looking forward to the 2.1 version of Dr Numby : the gems team! (2 of them have precious stone name). And I'll probably replace Ruan Mei by Sparkle to put her in another team.
I used to play Quantum knee cappers too with Lynx instead of Silverwolf. This team is fun to play too
How much do you recommend with e0 Topaz without her signature LC? I can see how they boost her damage alot and I feel that justifies slotting her in some teams. But without all the buffs from e1+s1 is she still viable?
There is only one flaw with the #1 team and it is that I am playing them. My existence adds a debuff that lowers their damage by 50%

I lost 50/50 to Yanqing during the Ruan Mei banner, so I dont have her. I use FX and another DoT such as Guin or Sampo depending on the situation.
I love Jing/Blade combo for the sole reason of making Blade suffer having Jing on his team.
my favorite team. Luocha, Ruan mei, black swan and Kafka. in my opinion most powerful in the game.

Topaz + Ratio seems a looot of fun, but needing Topaz's E1S1 in order to get the 100% proc on Ratio's talent is a huge deal breaker for me. Unless o get a super early Topaz i'll just save pulls for the dot gang reruns (sammy being thr exception).
Dr.Numby is literally my favorite team!!! And with Aventurine coming... it's gonna be PERFECTION!

Love the fact that I can watch this and not pick a team but pick the units that are the most frequent as a F2P.
Every team has a Ruan Mei or Fu Xuan or Lulocha. There will be new dps but those 3 seem to be must pulls/future proof.
I use the #4 team, but with Swan in for SW, and I named it "Frozen Zephyr" Swan's def shred makes the damage insane.
And my main team is the #1 team but with Bronya in for TY. I might replace Bronya with Sparkle though, I'll see when I finish building her! I called the team "ArcanaXplosion"
