    Great video that was a big help in my repair. I had a tear on the inboard boot of the rear axle on my 2012 Ranger. Found it easier and cheaper to just replace the entire axle with an aftermarket axle. I had to add 1 step and disconnect the shock absorber from the upper control arm to get the axle at a straight enough angle to get the spline into the hub.

    This is the second time I have used this vid to replace my axle, same side turf drive side, wears out after about 1500 miles, I have a 4" lift, so I assume it's the angle of the dangle that causes the wear. Tradeoff for height. I beat on the axle with a dead blow but could not get the axle to go it, it was aligned lubed etc, finally I grabbed it with both hand and shoved it in with quick motions and boom it went it? Thanks again for a great vid.

    I have a 2017 Ranger EU diesel 1000. There was a change to the rear drive shaft March 17. My one was built June 17. Are the tork settings the same 40/110 and 120 wheel ? M

    Will the inner joint come off like the outer did

  • @josephhecht573
    @josephhecht573 Před 4 lety

    Any reason you couldn’t slide the inner boot right up the axle? Wouldnt have to take the entire axle off the machine that way.

    Is this basically the same as replacing the CV boot on a 2007 Ranger 700?

    John, I ordered the boots, one small one bigger, which one goes where?

      I believe John says smaller goes onboard in this video. Rewatch to double check tho

    At 3:57 when it says to hit as close to the splines as possible I cannot get the CV joint to come off after trying for 30 minutes?

      I am mid job and just took a 6 inch piece of 2x4 across the grain, placed it against the bearing and gave it a whack with a hammer. No damage and it came right off. I was struggling as well

    I bought a new inner boot to replace a cracked one also bought a whole new axel assembly.I installed the new axel so I could keep running while I worked on the new boot.After a short test drive I felt the inner cv housing and it was hot.So I installed the new boot and changed out the axel.It runs hot also.This is the right side,does it always run hot.The people I bought the new axel said maybe that is normal.Anybody got any ideas.

    If the boot is torn and you hear a clicking, I assume the joint needs to be replaced?

    Are these videos for the front and rear boot replacement on the 2016 the same process on the 2019 ranger 900xp?

    Quick question. If my rear right wheel squeels while driving. 1 short squeel per tire revolution. What could it be?

      Typically it's a warped rotor. I would inspect your brakes.

    Can someone please direct me to where I can get the right tool for putting on the bands? Seems to be a lot of opinions - I could go broke trying all of them! No luck finding the PU-48951 Axle Boot Clamp Tool :(

    • @kevinbock6096
      @kevinbock6096 Před 5 lety

      ebay has them. or if you buy your boots from Dennis Kirk, certain replacement boot kits come with a tool for the band.. (not the same tool)

    Do don't show how to put the CV joint back on the axle.
    Kind of a useless video when you don't dhow that.
