The brief history of how it was started to how it is tryig to grow was a great synopsis of the old and new. I am certain you will get several (if not hundred) comments from others in Ridgway who will also love this short snippet at well. Thanx again, Be Safe and God Bless!!

Yes indeed!! I love my small town here in central Illinois. I think we're around 3,500 population. I've been here 6 years, have gotten involved in events sponsored by our local library and have gained so many wonderful new friendships. 😊
We also have a local chainsaw carver. Great guy. We featured quite a few of his pieces at the farm store where I worked for many years. So this story made me smile in a "close to home" way.
Good one Josh!! See you next time. 🥰

Now, I don't know how you do this, but watching this video afforded me a feeling of nostalgia and familiarity - like, "yeah, this is how Josh's video excursions into hometown communities feel. I can relax and kick back a little and feel like I am there for a bit". I couldn't put my finger on this specific sensation until watching this one. I love wood, and the woodwork in the buildings is "to die for" beautiful. I like the comment at the end: "making the outsider feel welcome". I'll add that to my list of traits/characteristic of small-town America. Beautifully done!

Thanks Greg! Heading north had me out of my element, I'll admit. The internal dialogue revealed how it feels to approach a place with certain preconceptions, even biases...but what I discovered was so welcoming and disarming. The great folks across these United States really have more in common than not. As always, thanks for watching!

@gregdelaney119 I remember the West Virginia episode Tony Bourdain did, and how transparent and candid he was about his own prejudices- yet his views changed by episode close. That has stuck out in my mind, and has been a big influence on my own cultural journalism.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk either, I just wished more of the local carvers had been featured since that was the essence of the video. I grew up there and plan to return one day. My mother was a huge supporter of the original couple years of the event as the director of the Elk County Tourist Association back in the 80s and 90s.
