Todd Terry was the master of the classic house vibe. What a legend. Will never get bored of that classic house vibe from the 90s. It's timeless and still relevant today and will be for a long long time.
thanks for sharing this! i really respect producers that don´t give a shit about shit load high end equipment and don´t jerk off about compressing techniques and stuff like that ... if it works on the dance floor then they made a good job! very encouraging ... they actually DO their own stuff, it´s their ideas coming out of the speakers .... big respect to everybody who found his/her own way of making great music!

you must be stupid...almost all guest that goes on this show will never show you all their secrets espcially their effect chain that took years to create.. they will give 1 or 2 tips and thats it. Unless they are complete noobs and cant sound design or engineer , their channels will be empty as shown in the footage and a master engineer will have to do some serious work on their sound.

Some varied comments here. Agree and disagree with some of them. But these guys aren't making music for producers and engineers. So the vast majority of the people dancing to this don't care what DAW was used or what the session looked like, what eq or compression was used etc. I guess people who don't have stacks of money for outboard gear or very expensive plug ins this approach would be appealing. For those who can afford that stuff and really need it for a purpose and outcome then that's fine too. Just got to know your stuff inside out whatever it is. :-)

8:00 - Reducing the gain like they do here doesn't affect a plugins output level, so they might as well just lower the stereo bus. It's better to keep your tracks at unity gain (0db) and use logic's gain plugin to give yourself headroom, as this also can prohibit plugins from peaking. Nonetheless, some great insight here. thanks FM.

anyone who talks about how they are 'just putting stuff together' and that needs to realize that there's more to it than putting things together they still have to create it whether or not you agree is a different story but theyre still making music either way at least they aren't like some who have ghost producers

I like making my own sounds...Your pretty much giving credit to the people who made the loops, presets, midi, sound packs, ect make your own stuff you'll be more happy in the end and you won't run into copyright laws

Why people never mentioned where they get the kick from what sample pack though ? I been struggle to get a good kick every time. Vengeance had pretty good bassdrum but not as good when compared to professional track idk why
I dont know about the kick, but they are using some sounds from their samplepack, and i saw that max chapman uses too. I think they have 2 sample packs available on the internet

would you automate on the master track (automate eq)? or is it something you should better not do, cos people always say don't touch the master fader
John Wil not with EQ, but with a filter maybe. you could do it fo a breakdown or so as long as you avoid resonance so that you arent boosting any frequencies.. but do whatever you want and see (or hear rather) the results for yourself. if you think something works, it works.
John Wil if you're automating some filter fade in or something there's nothing wrong with that, just be very careful you don't screw up the master with weird settings on whichever VST you might be using
+John Wil I create a sub output, which is basically a bus which everything goes into before the master. That way you can put filters and automation on that.

Doesn't say a lot for the Logic workflow when you're auditioning loops in Ableton via re-wire because it's quicker..

Is it just me or is does the whole song sound like a bad intro that never goes anywhere? Nevertheless , I love seeing the production approach of any electronic artist.

Their session looks like a mess, i mean, they're getting played so I'm not hating, but, it kinda sends this fucked up mess to us amateurs that good music needs 30 or more tracks, expensive loops and samples in order to sound professional. when in reality you just have to understand the software your working with. I wish Future Music would showcase producers with that kinda workflow, to encourage learning.

I couldn't agree more. I'd love to see artists using more sample based / creative approaches, maybe doing unusual sound design or recording approaches. Too much generic house / dubstep artists, who definitley deserve the respect and attention, but some variety would help all of us a lot. It feels like all achieve the same sound in the end.

Case in point why you are still an amateur. Expensive loops, no. 30 tracks? Maybe... its called layering and it creates dynamics, spatial separation and various other things that cannot be achieved by simply layering octaves on the same $200 soft synth.

kicks have 0 compression..... all the Sends are set to zero (guess theyre there for show), no panning, minimal EQ, pretty annoying really, we need more people like yuksek in the studio, that is such a good video with people who know what theyre doing, this is like.... Amatuer producing at best..... typical story of kids getting too much recognition too quickly.
