What the video didn't show is that Sabaton took the time to persaonally meet with the Stigler family at the concert. Franz' commander had told them that if they ever shot at a man in a parachute, that he would shoot them himself. Franz felt that shooting at a plane so badly damaged , and unable to fight back, was akin to that. Charlie took Franz to a reunion, Franz felt uncomfortable and wasn't sure he should be there. Charlie told him that everyone there was family of the men he spared.

Even in World war 2 , there was galantry and humaity , There is the laconia incident ,
The Laconia incident was a series of events surrounding the sinking of a British passenger ship in the Atlantic Ocean on 12 September 1942, during World War II, and a subsequent aerial attack on German and Italian submarines involved in rescue attempts. RMS Laconia, carrying 2,732 crew, passengers, soldiers, and prisoners of war, was torpedoed and sunk by U-156, a German U-boat, off the West African coast. Operating partly under the dictates of the old prize rules, the U-boat's commander, Korvettenkapitän Werner Hartenstein, immediately commenced rescue operations. U-156 broadcast her position on open radio channels to all Allied powers nearby, and was joined by the crews of several other U-boats in the vicinity.
After surfacing and picking up survivors, who were accommodated on the foredeck, U-156 headed on the surface under Red Cross banners to rendezvous with Vichy French ships and transfer the survivors. En route, the U-boat was spotted by a B-24 Liberator bomber of the US Army Air Forces. The aircrew, having reported the U-boat's location, declared intentions, and the presence of survivors, were then ordered to attack the sub. The B-24 killed dozens of Laconia's survivors with bombs and strafing attacks, forcing U-156 to cast into the sea the remaining survivors that she had rescued and crash dive to avoid being destroyed.
Rescue operations were continued by other vessels. Another U-boat, U-506, was also attacked by US aircraft and forced to dive. A total of 976 to 1,083 people were eventually rescued; however, 1,658 to 1,757 were killed, mostly Italian POWs. The event changed the general attitude of Germany's naval personnel towards rescuing stranded Allied seamen. The commanders of the Kriegsmarine were quickly issued the Laconia Order by Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz, which specifically forbade any such attempt and ushered in unrestricted submarine warfare for the remainder of the war.
The B-24 pilots mistakenly reported they had sunk U-156, and were awarded medals for bravery. Neither the US pilots nor their commander were punished or investigated, and the matter was quietly forgotten by the US military. During the later Nuremberg trials, a prosecutor attempted to cite the Laconia Order as proof of war crimes by Dönitz and his submariners. The ploy backfired, causing much embarrassment to the United States after the incident's full report had emerged to the public and the reason for the "Laconia order" was known.
There are many incredible true stories that Sabaton have got, there are stories of heroism, stories of incredible valour, stories of facing the enemy totally outnumbered, stories of soldiers coming home and fighting PTSD, stories of brotherhood. True historical fact stories that will bring tears, will be inspirational, will make you feel in awe, stories that should live on and told to generation's of people for ever, stories that should never die and those in them live on. Isn't it an incredible story? For me, Stieglers' story really deserves to be on the Heroes album. The love and compassion he showed to a wounded enemy. This story really deserves to be told, and Mrs Theren-Stiegler actually often comes in and thanks reactors for doing this one in the comments.
An equally amazing story about bravery you can find in the song Nightwitches, just make sure to react to the full animated story for getting the content of the story.

Some major ones to check out from Sabaton is the other animated Stories: Night Witches and Lady of the Dark. Both are powerful and epic, so not such tearjerkers. Gothenberg Live Performance of En Livsted i Krig (make sure you have subtitles on for that one) is one of the most mindblowing live performances. Absolutely one of those examples of every element being at its peak. A lot of Sabaton songs now also have History Documentaries that you can check out as well. Inmate 4859, Uprising, 40:1 and others, so those are all worthwhile checking out and following up with the short documentaries.

Franz Stigler once said during an interview, that his former Squadronleader once spoke to all the Pilots, telling them that they are Soldiers, not Murderers. And if he will get aware that one of them was shooting at a Parachute, he will shoot the one himself. So maybe the hardly flying B17 was for him something like a Parachute. When the incident became public, he also became a honorary member of the USAAF Bomber Veteran Association. The sad part was, that he also received letters from his former home, calling him a traitor, while some of his Canadian Neighours called him a Nazi....

Next up try the animated Night Witches about the 588th all female Russian bomber group. A story that should be learned in all history classes. Sabaton doesn't glorify WAR!!!! What they do is tell stories of those that experienced and went through those event to remind us of the humanity of those that lived them and not some written words on a dusty history book, which often only tells the story of "important" people. Sabaton tells the story of the common people in those important events. Great reaction BTW.

Sabaton finds war stories from every countries perspective to demonstrate the humanity and human determination to survive in the most horrific circumstances. Much more than a metal band! Also have a great drummer, Floor's husband Hannes Van Dahl.

Others may have told you - but - Sabaton's stories are all true. They don't "pick sides" - but tell true stories of valor, courage, and as you saw in this video, mercy.
They are WILDLY popular and many have said (in reaction videos) "I wish they taught history in school like this - I would have been interested."
If I may suggest / request? Try "Night Witches" (the animated story version) - it tells the true story of FEMALE Russian pilots in WWII.
Also - "Christmas Truce" (right time of year to truly "get" it)
It's an amazing collection of history, told to outstanding rock music.

Ms.Stigler is a hell of a women still surprisingly active on the reaction sites even going as far as to responds to the fans questions as best as she can. And I Suggest reading the book A Higher Call which is where they got the song from.
