Patrick, thank you for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice video, I may see if I can get a drone adventure there… any tips on getting permission or takeoff points?
They have tightened up on a lot of the rules since this video was made. Loads of hoops to jump though now.
Thank you
Top video did you need to get permission from anyone at longleat?
Thanks Damian, glad you liked it. My opo filmed this from the edge of their estate, but didn't realise that the monument was just inside their grounds, so part of their estate. Genuine mistake, so you will need permission to take off and land on their property. Or take off from public land or someone else's land with permission and stay above 50m (164ft).
you are aware that you've flown over private land without the owners permission? I've passed this link onto Longleat who may lodge a complaint.
Hi Jeff, i am one of the the Drone Junkees and it was my mate how took his drone on holiday down there. Firstly you can fly over private land as long as you take off and operate from public land or another persons land with their permission. They do not own the skies. Yes he shouldn't have got so close in one of the clips. You must stay above 164 ft (50m) or ideally 400ft (121m) i.e. reasonable area of expectation to abide by the the invasion of privacy act 1971, unless they are under your control. But It's a bubble remember, It's quite clear in the Drone Code and I have spoken personally to the CAA about all the crap some of you come out with. You have also potentially broken the law in your videos. The estate is also not classed as a place of mass population or built up area. My mate was down there on holiday and didn't realise Heaven's Gate was part of the Longleat Estate; he knows now as I've told him. He has put his hands up and realises he was on private land not public and shouldn't have flown there. I'm assuming whilst we are discussing this that all those people you have flown over in your videos are under your control? What about the lighthouse, the people on the cliffs, did you have permission to get so close to them and all the people in the car park or the hill walker with his dogs. Did you have permission to fly over all of them and did you get CAA authority and an exemption to fly above 400ft into the clouds like in your video, I doubt it. Pot calling kettle, ring any bells. And thanks for passing it onto Longleat Estate instead of helping by educating him on his cock up! Jobsworth!
Jeff Goodby this is great advertisement for longleat. Good luck with your complaint. They’ll probably ask if they can use it, if anything.
