I actually saw this show on tv when it first aired in 79. Still remember Barry making the explosion sound into the mike with his hands cupping his mouth around it. I was already a huge Bee Gees fan by then, and delighted beyond words by this footage. Back when it was so rare to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of your idols, and you didn’t OD on them 24/7.

Royal Half Circle I'm so jealous! I can't ever remember a time when I wasn't into the Bee Gees. I never got to see them live, but thankfully I caught Barry at Jones Beach last year. Even if I didn't get to see all of them, what a thrill to see Barry keeping the legacy going.

I loved this song when it first came out. Now that I have the chance to see what it takes to make it happen is just, INCREDIBLE. They had tremendous talent as writers and they're incredible as singers (even though people criticize them for using falsetto) Their legacy will live years after they will not be with us anymore

I just feel like I can never get enough of seeing any famous singers or groups recording their songs in a recording studio. I feel it makes me appreciate their songs even more. To me it's also just so fascinating to see the making of a song with the way the music artists and recording engineers work together. It makes me wish I could be at one of those studios working with them.
Thank you Tatiana Ishihara for posting this. I haven't seen it since I watched it when it was originally broadcast on tv. I still have an audio cassette recording I made of it from a small tape player placed in front of the tv speaker while the special was broadcast. I was glad to be able to remember being a younger :) fan watching it then, and now seeing it again brought back great memories. I attended the Spirits Having Flown concert and still have the tshirt I bought that night. Thanks!

I remember rushing out to buy the album .... and I loved it so much that I later got one of those fancy cassettes of it too.
