I like how everyone recognizes Demon's Souls from that upside down corpse hanging from the dragon's claw.
For all the medieval architecture and sweeping landscapes in the Souls games, the upside down body shot has never been recreated. It's a shot so unique to Demon's souls I'm not all that surprised it's instantly recognizable.
Old farts like me perked up at the ruined arch.
That shot is just as iconic as the dregling dangling upside down.

Hot damn. Sony just executed everything. I may have to ask for a loan in order to get this stuff! Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, Demon Souls and all the other games were amazing. God lord, a gamer needs to lie down after this. Now to see if Microsoft drops the ball.
I wish they charged the console, the same way we buy phones (monthly contract) so it's easier to afford.

The studio that made the Pixar looking game also made a fan animation for Majora's Mask that was legit amazing!
Honest to god, this is the first time I feel excited for a console since I was a kid and I saw the PS2.
Out of all these reveals, I think Kena is the one I'm most interested in. That, and Little Devil Inside. I should get around to playing Spider-Man and Horizon at some point.

As someone not familiar with Demon Souls and had no idea that this was a remake, the screeches of excitement and joy from Buns as she watches a lifeless corpse dangling from its legs soar across the sky was quite hilarious out of context.
I love how many people can't tell if the people are animated or not
the people in the conference were NOT cgi... the reason some of them look weird is because all of them recorded these in different places with different quality cameras in different lighting scenarios and it was someones job to rotoscope out the backgrounds of every single one and give them the same background, and when its harshlight with a bad camera they have to use de-noise effects on it to make it look smoother, so you get these plastic looking people.
you can see the same effect on really bad hd re-releases of old tv shows or movies in which they attempt to get rid of film grain...everyone ends up looking too shiny and smooth
I love that while she's screaming she misses the umbrella logo, and so remained in the dark until the end.
I don't think realism is dead, but it's been shoved back into the games that actually work well with it instead of slapping it on EVERY type of game there is.
Like for example, Hitman 3 blew me away with how real it looked, the developers that popped up from time to time seemed less real than what hitman had to offer, and I LOVE that ♡
I love that because it FITS hitman. And I wanna be visually blown away by the new SE project, I wanna get scared to death by too real Resident Evil 8 and so on.
But *variety* is key. I want artsy and weird shit, I want creative art styles, I want funky ideas and visuals that fit the game.
I want both realism and the complete opposite, each in their respective games, because the more variety there is, the better.
And Sony absolutely delivered on that with this lineup :)
I feel like Realism needs to be there, but it can be STYLIZE that's the key word. Stylization by lighting is a biggie.

Especially since that according to everything I can find, the developers consider Soulstorm to be bringing the point back to focus.
Exodus was made in I think a year? Less than that possibly an the developers couldn't do as much as they wanted. The gameplay tweaks they did were great but only time will tell if Soulstorm is going to be the definitive edition that Oddworld wanted to make or a George Lucus situation where Oddworld shouldn't have been given full control.

George Lucas said the same thing about the original trilogy, he said that there were many things he was unhappy with and wanted to change.
Then we got the special editions which no one likes.
It could go either way, as much as I think Shib is being too harsh in this vid, I understand his cynicism.

Funny thing about Edge of Tomorrow (That movie where Tom Cruise fights aliens, dies and starts the day all over again): It's actually an adaptation of the manga All you need is kill (definetly one of my favourite mangas ever, the art is made by the same artist as Death note)
The manga and movie are both adaptations of the novel from 2004. Both came out in 2014

I don’t usually like the Racing games but Grand Turismo looks so good and I have a itch for this sort of game, I will most definitely pick it up.
Did you know that for the original Abe's exoddus, oddworld inhabitants only had less than a year (due at Christmas time) to get the game out as it was pressured by PlayStation? That's why they had to reuse alot of assets from Oddysee but despite that exoddus was a sensational sequel! Now with the remake of exoddus, now called SoulStorm, they can finally make the sequel they envisioned without the pressure! I'm so stoked for the new oddworld and I'm ready for it to be as grotesque and hilarious as possible!

Games never have been going mostly realistic. The vast majority of games have stylized art styles. Even among Sony's exclusives, a bunch of them eschew photos-realism.
All the pc gamer wannabes are already like "waaaaaah! It only runs at 30 fps! Ps5 sucks!" Bruh.
I've seen that argument so many times and will never understand why people say that 30 is unplayable
