I ended up making a baby gate that was ~4-1/2 feet tall with PVC pipe. Instead of screwing the connections together, I loosely screwed them. it added some flexibility to the whole thing and allowed me to "hook closure" with the wall that wouldn't come undone. even with a 70# German Shepherd jumped up against it, but was easy enough for us humans to open.

Drill holes throughout the top crossbars, add a hose fitting, hook up a water hose --- now you can wash and dry the towels on the same rack. I mean, if you are going to stupidly spend that much money you may as well go all the way to the absurd level.

I wish he would give a list of materials and measurements as well! I can see using that for more than just a drying rack for floor mats use it for some DYI projects that you need to hand and air dry or many other projects you need to spray paint and need to air dry, also you could put a piece of cardboard on top and spray paint and it’s at a good level and not have to put it on the ground and have to bend over while your painting. I like it! I can see making it different ways for different projects. And not everyone has a spouse who has time to build things so it’s a project I myself can make!

I got my drying rack for $12 from Ikea and it folds up and easily hides away when not in use. There are so many more economical products on the market. Though I love playing with pvc, sometimes it isn't worth it, especially since it's tripled in price. The last thing I planned out would have been about $40 to make, I settled for the $18 Amazon item that did the same thing.

I used pvc pipe to build a stand that would hold a chart tablet and pocket charts in my kindergarten classroom. My custodial engineer was even kind enough to use his pvc glue to hold it together.
It was a lot cheaper (and lighter) than the stands available in the teacher stores and catalogs. It lasted for a number of years. My colleague’s husband even came in to look at it so he could make one for his wife.

I guess it all depends on how much one values their time and energy. To some people it wouldn’t be worth getting the equipment (assuming you already have the tools) and cutting, painting, etc. for something you can buy online in 5 minutes. If it was something that would be extremely expensive, I get it, but the cost benefit ratio doesn’t seem to make sense
