    Great conversation Omar. I agree with Barry 100% If Lamar who was an MVP at the time had to wait you have to let Tua play on his 5th year option to prove it.

    Funny how majority of this "injury history" could of been resolved by investing in O line which we clearly have not. Doesn't matter who you have back there, if you cant block the defense line it's a wash regardless

      Well said! If Tua had already won 1 maybe 2 playoff games then let's talk. Too too many unanswered questions. Can he stay healthy (Again)? Can he do better than 1-6 against winning teams, can he play better down the stretch? (December & January). Let the man test the market if he thinks he is worth "Market Value" but ask yourself this Tua. Will I go to a Dome team, a warm weather team, or a cold weather team and most importantly would you have the same high quality talent you have with the Dolphins? Grass isn't always as green as that Big Bag you are trying to get......but keep tryin. Show us you got what it takes when it matters most! September Contenders and December Pretenders until proven otherwise.

      the practical issue for the Dolphins isn't questioning Tua's ability it's cap flexibility. Franchise tagging is guaranteeing that money and now you have to have the cap space for it. Multiple years allows flexibility for during the season with signings from injuries that occur or trades at the trade deadline.

    • @mikesterner2145
      @mikesterner2145 Před 2 měsíci

      @@indade I think cap flexibility definitely plays a part but I also believe it does indeed involve Tua's ability. His inability to generate anything vs. Tennessee late in the game shows me his inability to come through in big moments and that was probably one of the biggest of the season. Now, you would be right to tell me the Defense was horrendous in the last 5 minutes of that game but when Tua had his chance he really didn't do anything with it. He has to step up in situations like that one.

    • @indade
      @indade Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@mikesterner2145 my question to you would be, are you saying a QB has to be mobile in order to win a Super Bowl? if the answer is yes, how do you explain the pocket QBs that have won multiple Super Bowls. if the answer is no, then what happened in those games that the result was the result.

    • @mikesterner2145
      @mikesterner2145 Před 2 měsíci

      @@indade I think that's a great question and I would have to say a more mobile QB has become the "successful" norm as the years move on. I wish Tua would become a "little" more mobile. Not to the point where he's getting himself killed or anything but an ability to scramble out of broken plays much like Mahomes does. Joe Montana KILLED the Dolphins in Super Bowl 19 with his added ability to run after things broke down. To me anyway, it's a nice thing for a QB to be able to do. Hopefully, with the weight he's lost we will see a little more of that "in a smart way". Nothing that will get him injured.

    I guess Barry is OK with another decade of generational talents on QB like Fiedler, Frerrote, Culpepper, and Trent Green. He keeps harping on the "One year healthy" which is EXACTLY the same amount of time Tua had a concussion. I'm not saying Tua is the GOAT, but he's better than what we've had on the position since Marino. I'm also, not saying he deserves $60 mil, but I doubt he'll get anything under 50 to tie him up. As for Brian Hoyer. OMG, NO you didnt go there. Well, another former QB Dan Orlovsky said he thinks that there are only 5 QBs who could run the Dolphins Offense like Tua. I think trying to use concussions as leverage against a QB is a terribly disingenuous way to play that game. How often do QBs suffer concussions compared to any other injury that QBs suffer? It’s one of the least common injuries to that position in particular. If your being objective Holland hasn't really done too much. Now that could be a testament to the D line or the opposing QBs not throwing at him . But to get the money you need the stats and currently he doesn't have them. Personally I think they didn't use him as best they could the last season

    Omar, u are SO in Tua's camp, that it's hard to take. I mean, it's fine. Ur allowed to root for a player I guess, although I don't know why u would root for their paycheck. It's their money, not yours. As a Dolphins fan, I have to say I resent ur bias. I feel like reporters should be on the fans' side. U know... those of us who haven't seen a playoff win in 24 years. We are already going to have to wait till the next quarterback after Tua to have a chance at being good. The longer they keep Tua around, the longer we'll have to wait. I wish u would stop ur nonsense unless you're getting a cut of his contract.

    Barry, give it a rest. Every QB is 1 play away from a season ending injury. If they were so worried about Tua being injured, why won't they sign a respectable OL to protect him. They have to pay him or chalk it up to a rebuild this year and next. Barry keeps mentioning going out and get somebody else. If it was that easy the Fins wouldn't have spent over 20 years looking for a QB. Tua's the best QB you've had since Moreno. Listen to Barry and we can start our next 20 year search. According to the Doctors, Tua is no more likely to have another concussion than anyone else in the NFL. Why is everyone talking about Tua's concussions? Steelers QB Kenny Pickett had 2 concussions in 2023 but nobody is dogging him about it.

      And if you do pay him all that money and he doesn't ever get any better, or hell, even regresses, then that will also kill the morale of the team because they know they are stuck on a team that can't win anything.
      Look at both sides

    How do we know what Miami offered Tua already that he turned down. And for Tua to say market is market, screw him. He's all about himself and bye saying that he proved it. He is making generational wealth already and knows he is getting paid way above his ability. The only reason tua looks even half decent is because of who all Chris Greer put around him. Tua is a cup cake Omar and everybody knows it. 😂
