People cheat and aren't honest usually if someone calls foul they are given the benefit of the doubt so your not wasting time arguing if they were fouled or not, with that being said the power to never lose the ball by calling foul everytime is too much and offensive don't exist so contact can be initiated litterrally every play

And I'll tell ya, the best games I played was where everyone respected the foul call. Some games we didn't even call foils cause their was one guy who just turned it into drama. Which can easily lead to a fight on a court. So best to just say no foul calls if you don't have a good squad.
In streetball the main defender can push the offenses back if they're facing them for example a post up, if the main defender is in front of the offense they can't push them but they can physically impede them by putting up their arms and standing in front of them. Any other defender can get in anyone's way, and people can double triple or even quadruple up on defense, those are the only differences.
The too late part I agree with because sometimes it wasn't a foul and they are trying to get possession again. But the no basket because you called foul is dumb.
Not always, it's not always as clearcut as the video makes it out to be. Because we rely on self-calling in pickup ball, things don't happen as snappily as with professional play. And pretty often when players call foul, many of their teammates or opponents stop playing as they consider play dead. Which makes it a lot harder to argue for continuation plays.

We never played this way where I was from. If made and foul call, the basket counts and the foul is negated. If the foul is called and the miss, the foul is called and you get ball back IF another agreed that there was a foul. If you were the only one on either team who saw it. Then it was ignored and play continued. This is a much more sound pickup style.

If it's debatable, teams will argue about it, if it was more of a foul the opposing team will probably cede, which happens most of the time, and if it's exaggerated, it can be refused by the opponents. Sometimes it's just given so that play continues, debatable penalties are the hardest case to agree on because it's a penalty. But ofc in football the problem shown in the video doesn't exist because if it's in you wouldn't need a foul anymore even if it was one

it's cool for a lil fun 30 min of hooping with your friends. but in a competitive run with a next list 6+ deep where people come from all over the city to get at it that system will be gamed especially when it's 10-10 and games are straight to 11.

When playing with new ppl who happen to be hacks you call the fouls early and often until you can play or make the same move without being clobbered. So while it seems stupid at first. It resolves itself the more you call real fouls. No one likes having to pause and return the ball to the opposition.

In my generation (gen Z) we say "And 1" as a way to say foul even if we make the shot so the foul and bucket both counts

We never used to call fouls as kids. The only thing we really called was traveling. Then again, we weren't that serious about the game so we weren't necessarily beating the shit out each other.

That’s not fair because then you would just call foul everytime and then pick and choose. If you were to miss you’d get the ball back and if you make it you get the ball. Not fair.

If it's in the air and a player is shooting, the bucket counts. But if it is before the shot the player who was fouled gets another possession.👍

I used to think this rule was dumb. Then someone explained that, because it’s make it take, you’re basically saying “whether I make or miss it, I get the ball back.” If you’re playing full court, then and 1s are more acceptable cause the opponent gets the ball if you make it.
Reason us OG’s played with that rule was to first focus thru contact and to keep playing till we heard a whistle.

@@shaggy1632 hoops is hoops dawg personally we don't normally play fouls especially since its always a mix of like really big and really small people so some fouls might just be hard to prevent BUT if a foul is called and baskets made it should count. I say that cause if you call and one on a miss they don't wanna give you ball. It's like a lose lose
