    Hello, thanks for the informative video. Do you recall if the boat is wheelchair accessible? Do they have a lift for wheelchair users? I once used a catamaran in Greece and there was no lift plus on arrival I had to use a gangway that was far too narrow and wobbly and scary to walk down on. In typical Greek fashion, when I reached the bottom, the guy asks the man who was helping me down why didn't we use the car exit which is level.... *sigh* Maybe the Spanish are a bit better?

    • @swissclimber1
      @swissclimber1  Před 4 lety

    • @TheZontania
      @TheZontania Před 4 lety +2

      @@swissclimber1 thanks. I wrote to the operators and they wrote back to say it is not wheelchair accessible as it is an old structure (as old as me!) and they are planning to close it and do works to update it but at the moment it is not possible. They also said they had info on their website, but it must be well-hidden because I could not locate it. It is really disappointing when places do not take into consideration the needs of the disabled. How I wish life would be a little bit different and I could still do the exploring I used to enjoy doing when I was young and able!

    • @swissclimber1
      @swissclimber1  Před 2 lety

      OK - here are why you would do this same day: a) you love ferries and ship journeies b) you want to go to Morocco or cross the Straits to say you've been there and done it c) you are pressed for time. If none of these apply stay at least 1 night. It's an experience to explore the Kasbah and the cacophony and mazes of old Tangier. There are plenty of low cost hotel right near the port. Bottom line stay 1 night at least. Besides there are only 3-4 crossings per direction per day and that was pre-COVID!

      @JerichoLaw27 Před 2 lety

    Can you clarify please? I see a lot of videos but they don't elaborate for me. From Madrid to Algeciras, you can take a train. How will you get to the Ferry terminal at Algeciras. Then from Algeciras, you take the ferry to tangiers, right?
    You can also take the ferry from Tarifa to Tangiers. Is Tarifa another place or is it the same as Algeciras. If not same, then how does one get to Tarifa from Madrid?
    I want to take the renfe train from Madrid. Now you tell me the best route to Tangiers, Morroco.

    • @swissclimber1
      @swissclimber1  Před 5 lety +1

      1. From Algeciras to Tarifa, there is a bus that is 2-3 Euro and 45 minutes. There is a train from Madrid to Algeciras 2. From Madrid to Tarifa, it is train and bus. The train stops at Badia-Sur and then you take a bus

    • @TheZontania
      @TheZontania Před 4 lety

      I did the Algeciras to Tanger route by train. I walked from the train station to the ferry port but later was told there was also a shuttle bus. That was a lifetime ago so things must have changed in all these years. Tarifa is a different city to Algeciras. If you are coming down from Madrid by train, then Algeciras is a good option but the ferries from Algeciras go to the new port of Tanger, Tanger-Med, which is another 40 km from the city and you need to research buses etc or you will be held hostage to grand taxis and their exorbitant pricing!

    Before taken by Portuguese,
    these were (respectively) Morocco’s 4th Largest City & Main Port.
    Now, Morocco refuses to help aid Spain in making money off the Port, (and it’s colonisation), so Morocco has focused efforts into it’s other ports these last few years, like Tanger Med
    Africa’s and the Mediterranean’s largest port; ranking this week among the world’s most efficient ports, with the Morocco port placing 6 out of 370 (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, then Morocco).
    Just a year ago it ranked 25th on Lloyd’s 100
    “In a study assessing the efficiency of the world’s largest ports, the Tangier Med port’s infrastructure outperformed all African and European ports.”
    Since Spain cannot run these areas like Morocco, it runs them similar to a
    fast food joint.
    If we were comparing hotels to ports, Gibraltar under UK would be The Four Seasons, Ceuta & Melilla under Maroc would be The Mandarin
    and Poor Cetua and Melila under Spain is McDonalds,..
    the World Bank’s Container Port Performances:
    “Despite it’s prime location in the Strait of Gibraltar, Algeciras has not managed to see off competition from Valencia as a gateway for Spanish imports, nor Tanger Med, just 20 miles to south.”

    Hello sir hows the day going? Im a 23 yr old korean who is traveling to morocco next month i guess sir would have gone through numerous repeated questions..sorry for making sir repeat answering the same things if i am asking is repeated..😢
    As a korean i know that i dont need visa to Uk and spain and morocco, i am arriving from seoul to casa blanca, and thinking of visiting tarifa and Gibraltar for this trip by taking ship from tangier, i never was to Europe or africa in my life. Since morocco and spain and uk are using different cureency, I am having one Master card with me, can i buy the tickets by master card i have? And also, can I be buying things without issues with the master card i have? And on one of sir's reply i saw rhat from tarifa to Gibraltar it takes 45 mins by car, is there any public transportation bus or train i can use to get to gibraltar from tarifa?
    Thanks for reading all these and have a nice day sir!!☺️

    • @swissclimber1
      @swissclimber1  Před 5 měsíci

      You can buy most things with a credit card. Always have Euro for cash payments in Europe. You can change money in Morocco to local currency. Why not take a ferry to Gibraltar from Tangier vs. going to Tarifa. There is nothing very special in Tarifa. If you want to go see Spain you can cross the border in Gibraltar. Hope this helps?
