This is a true story, and it's known as one of the most accurate Westerns to real life events. Billy the Kid the greatest outlaw of the old west. Give it a 2nd watch with that in mind, and then please react to part 2, it's even better. More epic. Bon Jovi did the soundtrack to part 2, soundtrack much better. 😎 Young Guns changed the way modern westerns were made. This was the MTV generation modern western when MTV was still all about music and at the time the guitar rock really worked with the film. Part 2 was a huge deal. Kiefer Sutherland, Emilio and Lou Diamond Philips return. If you give Part one a 4 of 5 then it's absolutely necessary to do Part 2. Love the reaction! Emilio Estevez was born to play Billy the Kid.

Pat Garrett was played by John Wayne’s son Patrick.
In Young Guns 2, Pat is played by William Petersen (Gil Grissom) while Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) plays his side kick.
Christian Slater takes over as a combatant ‘dirty Steve’ friend and Alan Ruck (Fry, Fry, Fry) takes over as the shy quiet ‘Charlie’ type of role.
There’s more comedy and more maturity in the sequel.

If you want a true western education, you got to go back and watch the spaghetti westerns of director Sergio Leone’s
    Man With No Name Trilogy.
These are the westerns that redefined the genre and made
    Clint Eastwood a star.
Now don’t skimp out and do the normie thing by just watching
TGTBATU because that’s the most famous one.
Do it right and start from the beginning.
The breakout film for director Sergio Leone, composer Ennio Morricone, and actor Clint Eastwood.
    “A Fistful of Dollars” (1964)
“For a Few Dollars More” (1965)
    and then, and only then,
“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” (1966)

The sequel is also good with the killer song Blaze of Glory of Bon Jovi. Other great westerns are of course Clint Eastwood Dollar Trilogy you can not watch westerns without watching that trilogy also there is The Quick and The Dead and there is a funny spaghetti western called "My Name Is Nobody" 1973. Fyi Emilio and Charlie Sheen are brothers in real life. Great Kiefer Sutherland (The badass Jack Bauer in 24) movies are The Vanishing ,Flatliners, Dark City ,Phone Booth

it's one of my most favorite movies, but it was far from the true events that actually happened, Tunstall was only a few years older then Billy, (22 or 23 yrs old), Murphy wasn't even in Lincoln at this time he was in Santé Fe, dying from Cancer, and he too was younger then depicted he was only 47. Chavez y Chavez was not Indian, he was pure blooded Mexican and he was a law man before Tunstall was killed, so was Richard in fact Richard had his own Ranch not too far from Tunstall's. now that I said that there is two cameos in this movie if you look closely when Charlie goes through the door, Tom Cruise is shooting at them. and the man on the Gatling gun is Randy Travis, country music singer, and actor, also as a side note Patrick Wayne (son of John Wayne) played Pat Garrett.

Now, watch Young Guns 2. It's just as good, if not better, than the original. As to why this movie feels different than typical western movies is because this movie was targeted to the MTV youth of the 80s. They were trying to make a western that teenagers and 20-somethings would think was "cool." Kiefer Sutherland, Sheen, Estevez, and Lou Diamond Phillips were all rockstar actors who were HUGELY popular at the time with teens and 20-somethings back in the day. For further corroboration of this, Young Guns 2 soundtrack was done by Bon Jovi, who pretty much ruled MTV along with the likes of Madonna, Prince, and Michael Jackson back in the day. Bon Jovi even has a cameo appearance in the sequel. Although, if you blink, you might miss him. He's shown getting blasted. His screen time is literally maybe 5-10 seconds long. Maybe not even that long. lol!

@@FlixTalk Used a high sensitivity film stock and then overexposed the film when shooting (while shooting towards the sun) and used an acid in processing so you can actually see the grain in the celluloid. Shot by Australia Dean Semler who had a very impressive resumè at the time.
The modern music was part of the selling point. YOUNG Guns. Westerns starring youngsters was unheard of at the time. Hence, the “rock” soundtrack. Even the long hair styles were intentional, as was the casting of young hollywood studs (Estevez was considered part of the Brat Pack at the time).
This started a fad. Cowboy movies didn’t have good looking people in them before this and the rock n roll cowboy theme became a thing. A TV show called The Young Riders ran for about five years after this (Starring a young Josh Brolin amongst others) and it was pretty darn good at the time. Can be found for free on youtube if anyone reading this really wants a 90’s cowboy kinda-corny tv show to binge.

One of the most annoying thing about these “reaction “ videos is when the movie is based on historical figures, that the “reactor “ focuses on the actors and NOT the actual person the actors are portraying. Focus on the characters that the actors are portraying and NOT the actors themselves!
When I hear a “reviewer “ say something like “Oh! I didn’t expect Charlie Sheen to get killed in the movie so early!”, it makes me sad. Charlie Sheen was portraying historical figure Richard M. Brewer (February 19, 1850 - April 4, 1878), who was an American cowboy and Lincoln County lawman. He was the founding leader of the Regulators, a deputized posse that fought in the Lincoln County War. Brewer was killed by an old American Bison hunter by the name of "Buckshot Roberts", during the Gunfight of Blazer's Mills, on April 4, 1878. Five other Regulators were wounded during this battle. Buckshot Roberts was also shot and killed during the gunfight, either by a shot fired by George Coe, whose finger was shot off by Roberts, or Charlie Bowdre.
