These dinners are not to make deals because the commander in chief does not sit down with two congressional members and sign anything. CONGRESS does that. All the POTUS can do is veto something from congress or sign executive orders (EOs are not LAWS, they are directives). The tone for these dinners is that whatever party the POTUS belongs to, can be significantly swayed by the POTUS. So when Pelosi and Schumer sit down with the POTUS they can have their moment to update and give feedback on what they'd like to do, and the POTUS can then casually give feedback, then take that info to the other party of congressional members along with his/her opinion. We see this when congress has a tough time coming to a consensus, with both the senate and HOR. It's also beneficial when you think POTUS may veto something anyway; this way you can plead your case first and get a feel for what he/she thinks instead of laying all the foundation then being surprised when it's vetoed later. It's very smart to keep the dialogue going, regardless of whether action occurs. And a stalled congress or even government period is not necessarily bad, it just means the checks and balances are working. Anyway, I think it's important and smart for every citizen to understand how American government works before forming an cemented opinion.

I also like the fact that she's very confident and not easily intimidated by other co-hosts on the table (and i think the others a bit disinclined to be rude to her - very different with the way they treated jed and other previous conservative co-hosts).

I will say as a former fan of McCain's, she seems to have changed. If you ever listened to her America Now show on the radio, she was more loose, fun and engaging. Here she always just looks uncomfortable and lashes out as soon as anyone criticizes Trump or the Republicans. And she's rude about it. On the radio, she would trash Trump all day and then laugh about it. Now she's a borderline apologist. So yeah I have to agree she should probably go.
