      @@PrimeofPerfection Yes. I think he was right to believe that he was important but not to the Sith. The Sith does not care about the things that make Dooku unique. While you can understand why he chose the path that he did, it was the wrong one and that is something that he and Vader both learned and have in common. Both are former Jedi who are not 100% evil and have more to them than just being a killing machine for the Sith. They've taken a darker path for personal reasons and paid the price for it. I think Vader became more evil than Dooku and killed a lot more than Dooku did but Vader was a lot angrier than Dooku. He did become a killing machine for the Sith as he was driven by pain. However, that wasn't just what he was all abbout, he's more complex than that. He's somewhere in between Maul and Dooku, in terms of what type of Sith he was. Dooku was calm, tactical and refined, Maul was a savage. Vader is the personification of pain and a symbol of fear learning to to shut himself off from all of his emotions. As Anakin, he was a very emotional being.

    My understanding was that the rule of two was ment as a strategy to defeat the jedi , abandoning it afterwards or having dark side adepts like inquisitorrs made sense, like two senior sith , a master and grand master of the sith like the jedi , ( yoda and windu) an army of dark side knights, obviously not as powerful as the masters makes sense.

    • @hellstrom4209

      That’s what Palpatine would have told Dooku, but in reality Darth Bane and all true sith lords following him meant it to be forever, as Darth Bane found that power in the Dark side reaches it’s peak when concentrated within less individuals rather than spread out among multiple dark side users. No true Sith lord would want an army of Sith because that would mean letting go of power which a true sith would never do. Some exceptions are made for low level dark side agents like Asajj or the inquisitors, but they were never true sith who could pull power away from its true masters.

    • @sirdoomer7927
      @sirdoomer7927 Před rokem +4

      It was created so the sith don't destroy themselves. In the book Darth Bane Path of destruction the Brotherhood of sith were never at full power because of to much infighting.
      Actually in Kotor 2 Kriea even says "as all sith do without a strong opponent they turned on each other"
      So really the rule of two had nothing to do with defeating the Jedi but rather was a tactical move so the ways of the sith could survive. What Bane did to combat the Jedi was change their ways of fighting. Instead of big battles the scorched planets they would fight from the shadows. That is a big reason why the Jedi fall in the prequels. They thought it would go down how it did 1,000 years prior. So they also thought that winning the clones wars was the best way to defeat the sith and didn't realize until it was to late that they had been caught in a trap. The Sith adapted how they fought with the rule of two being used to keep the sith ways.
      While i do love the idea of the inquisitors being used to hunt Jedi, it would stand to reason that they are not true sith which is why non have the title of Darth.

    • @sheevpalpatine8257
      @sheevpalpatine8257 Před rokem +3

      The reason for the rule of two wasn’t simply a revenge tactic. Bane observed that the Sith were just fighting amongst themselves. Killing each other off out of jealousy, greed and lust for power. Bane saw this left the Sith Order vulnerable to the Jedi. Thus: he instituted the rule of two. Because in his mind, the Force was venom, not fire. There should be one master to hold the power, and one apprentice to crave it.

    Dooku always strived to be a teacher. He would attempt to teach even if the other was his opponent. he believes he would teach new students. He only wished to do so without the Jedi interference.
    He wasn't able to understand palpatine never wanted anything substantial or substitute to Jedi on any level. Palpatine wanted actual control. Not discipline as dooku thought.

  • @Super1866
    @Super1866 Před rokem +21

    I think Dooku would have been a better master for Anakin than Palpatine. Dooku is more like what Anakin thought Palpatine was before he revealed himself, as opposed to being pure evil like Palpatine actually was. Anakin would learn this later but was past the point of no return by then. Whether Anakin is Jedi or Sith, there are two masters who would have been better for Anakin than the masters he got in Obi-Wan and Palpatine. Those are Dooku and Qui Gonn Jinn. Obi-Wan was very good to Anakin but Qui Gonn was a better candidate for being Anakin's master as he would have been the father figure he needed. Also, he was not controlled solely by what the Jedi order said and did. There is no doubt that Qui Gonn was supposed to be and would have been the one to train Anakin, had he not died. I don't believe that Dooku was totally evil, so therefore, I think he would have taught Anakin about the dark side and corrupted him to an extent by encouraging him to use it and turn away from the light, but not to the extent that Palpatine did. I don't think Anakin would have changed so drastically or been manipulated as much. Therefore, he may not have become as unstable. As I've said before, Dooku is like a Jedi who has a different point of view from what the Jedi order has. I think Dooku would have encouraged Anakin to be more controlled in what he does, like the Jedi would. Palpatine encouraged Vader to let the emotions take over because that was how Palpatine was able to manipulate him. I think he also thought that it would increase Anakin's power level faster. That may have been true to an extent but in a way it was blinding. It was too much too fast. Anakin became almost out of control as a result. He needed time to refine his new powers and with such a massive surge in power, he couldn't do that as quickly as perhaps he and the Emperor would have liked. He was overwhelmed with more power than he knew what to do with when he fought Obi-Wan. He couldn't manage his ego, arrogance and that huge surge in power all at once during that battle. He still fought well but he underestimated the opponent and overestimated himself. The power surge only added to his ego and to his arrogance. That is what cost him. He knew he was more powerful and a superior duelist to Obi-Wan but he assumed it would be easy and got frustrated when it wasn't. He seemed to forget that Obi-Wan knows how he fights better than anyone and the importance of being in full control of what you are doing. Obi-Wan was and Anakin wasn't. Obi-Wan was able to out-think Anakin in this duel. To say that Obi-Wan had a clear head going into this might be pushing it a bit but his was clearer than Anakin's and unlike Anakin, he was able to clear it enough to not lose control of the situation. Anakin lost his head and was full of emotion as well as confusion. Obi-Wan was much better at detaching himself from that and being able to control it. Anakin's objective was to kill once the duel started and Obi-Wan's was surviving. Survival instinct is very strong which gave Obi-Wan a much better stategy. It wasn't until both Vader and Palpatine realised the consequences of giving in to emotion for themselves as well as others that they decided to veer away from it. That is another reason why Anakin would have benfited from Qui Gonn or Dooku. Qui Gonn trained Obi-Wan and Dooku trained Qui Gonn. All of them were very good at staying in control of themselves and it was passed down through the teachings. Those teachings were the reason why Obi-Wan survived and won duels against far more powerful and dangerous opponents such as Maul and Anakin/Vader. Anakin may have been more emotionally balanced if he had been taught by Qui Gonn Jinn, like Obi-Wan was. I think he would have still been an aggressive duelist but not as unstable in his personality. I also think that the Jedi should have protected Anakin's mother, particularly with them being worried about Anakin turning to the dark side. They must have been able to anticipate what may happen and how it would affect Anakin. Obi-Wan was like a brother to Anakin but Anakin needed a father and Dooku would have been like a grandfather, but not a totally evil one like Palpatine.

    Basically Darth Tyrannus fell into the same trap as Darth Plagueis when he was alive. As he believed the Rule of Two had come to an end with him as he would achieve immortality for himself and his apprentice Darth Sidious and rule the galaxy together as equals. That lead Plagueis to his death in his sleep via being tortured by Sidious. Ironically while Dooku wasn't afraid of Anakin, Plagueis was because he knew that he was responsible for Anakin's birth when he tried to create a Force Sensitive being of his own with the Midi-Chlorians. But instead the Force fleed from him and made Shmi Skywalker pregnant with The Chosen One through the Midi-Chlorians. All while Palpatine was on Coruscant working on his political skills so he had no idea that Anakin was a representation of the Force striking back at the Sith.

  • @Super1866
    @Super1866 Před rokem +51

    Yes, Dooku was quite merciful for a Sith, particularly when it came to Anakin. He was almost like a mentor. Dooku then ends up dead. He should never have listened to Palpatine. That was the trap of the dark side for Dooku, Palpatine's betrayal. Dooku got screwed over. He was merciful to someone who became Palpatine's reason to get rid of him. Dooku was intelligent but maybe a bit too self-assured because he got played. That's what the Sith is for people who are not 100% evil. There is no longevity in it unless you're suffering. You can either die at a time when you think you're on top or you think you're on the brink of achieving your primary objective, or you can live to endure the suffering that you bring upon yourself and others. You are haunted by regret and failure for the rest of your life because you go past the point of no return. Once you're so far into it, it's hard to come back. That was Batman's reasoning for why he didn't kill. He wanted to at times and was capable but he would have been going to a dark place that he believed there was no way back from. The trauma of losing his parents stayed with him. He knew that taking a life would stay with him too. Dooku is more like what Sidious presented himself as when he was manipulating Anakin. He's not just some Sith Lord who is totally evil, he is someone not too disimilar from a Jedi but he has a different point of view. He's not darkness personified but he is unafraid of exploring it or using it. This meant turning away from the light, to some extent anyway.

The Inquisitors would be plotting against the others because they would dislike to be second grade sith. And of course, all of them would start to question one day why they follow this asshole on the top. If Anakin and Dooku would team up for example, they would beat the shit out of Sidious.
      There is a reason why the rule of two was created. In legends, in the Old Republic era for example, the sith were just as busy killing each other during wars as they were to kill jedi. They did not think of themsleves as a part of some grand order, all of them had visions, goals and schemes, and they were willing to put their Empire behind these goals in priority. The rule of two simplified the playing field. Thougth it is amazing that they somehow did not die out with just two of them existing- a simple ship crash would have ended their grand plan.

At the time of his death he rather saw himself as Sidious´ equal, it was only at the final moment that he realized how wrong he had been. I´m really glad that Christopher Lee convinced George that Dooku shouldn´t plead for mercy, it wouldn´t have fitted neither his voice nor the character. I don´t think it fits any sith, not Maul either, even though his brother had just been slain and he was being tortured. We can wonder forever how much foreknowledge Sidious had; whether he knew Vader would come back from Mustafar less than he had been; broken and weakened, but both Legends and Canon Palpatine have demonstrated a certain willingness to bend, or outright ignore, even the rules of the Sith. In this way, Dooku still could have been useful, yet Palpatine had him get killed. I do understand it; he wanted to push Anakin into doing wrong, so that later he'd think about it when Windu was planning to do the same to Sidious, but Dooku could have been useful, and Palpatine did need more servants than just Vader...especially after Vader became different. Count dooku has always been a powerful sith similar to Darth vader expect he has force lighting and a curved Lightsaber rare for some siths🗡🗡.

    Seeing Count dooku as badass Villain he uses force lighting alot every time he fights an enemy similar to Palpatine instead of force choking people like Darth vader does🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛.

    I assumed Dooku would have wanted Anakin to become his apprentice and overthrow Sidious. I don’t believe Dooku ever respected Sidious. There were times where he bested Anankin and could have easily killed him. Anakin is much stronger in the force but Dooku was far more skilled dualist & thought things through. Anakin was brash & hot tempered & never thought things through as much as he should where Darth Vader was the complete opposite. Vader was always 10 steps ahead of his Adversaries, hell he probably could eventually overthrown Sidious he was so calculated in every move he made. Dooku’s arrogance got the best of him.

    Dooku was a badass but not even close to being one if the most powerful Sith he wasn't even in the top 15 Sith lords. he was a epic dualist but he couldn't stand for to toe with the dark Lord of the old republic. Darth revan, Darth sion and Darth magus just to name a few would have made dooku there bitch but maybe I miss years what you said

  • @tommyfox854

    I always took it as someone who had dozens of years of more experience looking down at a young up-start, basically a very rube boomer looking down at a millennial or Gen Z-er because they haven't seen what he's seen and considers them a weaker generation. But in the end, it's the younger generations that proved to be stronger; not by iron and blood, but by activism and the will to change things for the better.
    Take this however you like; good, bad, whatever, I'm curious about what ya'll have to say about this mess of a comment I made.

    Imagine if Dooku got away at the last min at the beginning of Episode 1. The story could be that Sidious goes ahead with turning Anakin into his apprentice as Darth Vader and unleashes Order 66, but Dooku returns with Darth Maul (still upset with Sidious killing his brother) as his new Apprentice. The 2 of them would combat Sidious and Anakin (who in this version wouldn't get injured or deformed after fighting Yoda and Obi-Wan), for the right to rule the new empire!
