  • Another vacuum from eBay from a seller who sent me the wrong item that was damaged and didn’t work. After returning the vacuum, the seller re-listed it and sold it to another unsuspecting buyer using the same incorrect pictures.

eBay sellers getting stupider and stupider. I've had a lot of issues with eBay sellers stealing the money and never shipping it at all. Takes like 2 weeks to get the money back. It's ridiculous.

That hurts. They absolutely SCAMMED you, and I’m sorry to see someone is taking advantage of buyers like yourself.

That poor Hoover Junior is in similar condition to Onslow's car on keeping up appearances.

Looks like that poor thing went through WWII. The sad thing is, even if this scammer's account is taken down, they will come right back under a new name and it's a never ending cycle. If it wasn't such a privacy issue, online selling platforms should require some sort of personal ID when making an account. That way if you engage in scams and your account is terminated, you're done.

It does have a ratings sticker on it Roger, its on the base of the machine - sometimes they did mount them there instead - you can see it at 13:53, and the date on it can be read as 911, that is, November 1969, so its about as late as it could possibly be before becoming a 1346A which started in Jan 1970.
That one is the fourth model of 1346 - there were four of them between March 1967 and December 1969 - all based on the brown bag theme.
The first one had the pumpkin front, and ran for several months during early 1967.
The second version followed later in 1967 but had the brown faceplate with large roundel, and also the screw fitting on the bag flange like the pumpkin front model
The third version I think ran from 1968 and this one deleted the large screw that held the bag flange on.
The fourth version from 1969 was the same as the third but used a much smaller roundel on the faceplate.
What you have been sent is the fourth version of it, and in very poor condition as well - but at least it did run. The fact the casing was broken could have been done by careless couriers, but I think it was utterly dishonest and deceitful of the seller to send such a machine to you, and create an utterly ridiculous listing. I bet they got it from a house clearance from out of someone's loft, and just bunged it on ebay as it was. At least you will get your money back, and the search will go on for you to get a pumpkin front 1346 - which I actually still own one of which, and mine was made in March 1967.
The pumpkin fronted Junior 1346 was the first model to use the dating system where you could find the date of manufacture on the ratings sticker, previously from before 1967, going back to the 1334A they used the really old fashioned type serial numbers such as the form KB123456, where you needed a book of codes to work out when the machine was made.

Thanks for the info Steve. Seems that I have the second generation 1346 with the large roundel in my collection.

@@ibaisaic If it has the big screw on the bag flange that can be undone to remove the bag flange, and has the brown faceplate with large roundel then its the second model from the 1346 range.

@@ibaisaic Yes, you do - and that one in the video from 8 years ago is from July 1968 going on its serial number of 807. The one you got sent now that is useless, is actually the fourth phase 1346 model with the only noteable difference being it has the small roundel that was used on the subsequent 1346A models.

Well that was an appalling misdescription, but I have to say this did make me chortle! 🤣
Can we have the buggernationesque family un-friendly version?!
Ebay will always side with the buyer in these situations, but it is a faff.
I note the seller has sold this cleaner twice before?!

Nothing more disappointing than receiving an item that you did not buy. For a high usage machine the motor didnt sound bad. That poor hoover a little tear rolling down its badge it just wants to be saved.

In the USA it's the only place to buy anything, especially if you're into old vacuums. No vacuum shops selling used vintage vacuums anymore, the thrift stores don't have them anymore, people on Fakebook want $300+ for anything old. You have no choice.

It will be a fight because you have to prove it isn't. eBay only looks and checks "was item delivered" "tracking = yes, so yes" and then case is closed. will be a battle with customer service.

Then if it turms out a lump of crap like this i leave it where it is. If the listing is too far away i just dont bother with the item! Hope you get the one you actually bought or at least your money returned.

You are correct - using the code from off its ratings sticker which you can just about make out at 13:53, its date code is 911, so its nov 1969, literally a month or so before the ocean green 1346A came out in Jan 1970.

It is a model 1346 not a model 1346A. It was the second and last version of the 1346. The 1346A had the height adjuster on the side of the casing.
