- The Bao 5 from Fangchengbao Auto (BYD’s new brand) is a plug-in hybrid off-road SUV that has around 700ps of power and a 4.8s of 0-100km/h time. It is a new interpretation of what a modern SUV can be: an off-road powerhouse, a practical family car, and a super smart EV.

❤❤❤
I love this car and have watched many times.
As to what I learn is a lot if water wading 4x4 EV cars Can withstand 30 minutes of functioning when submerged.
Many nations have floods due to climate changes.
What will happen to EV submerged during floods.
Looks great, thank you for the video.
Awesome video) thanks
thank you
This must be the best video on 方程豹 豹5, very detailed with no direct translation of BYD's bad promotional materials (logitudinal engine, low range and somehow 3 differential locks, even though there's just two differentials😂). The only piece of info you didn't get is how exactly the engine is connected to the front wheels. Is there any sort of transmission or Königsegg/Honda style gimminky direct drive? And I would also like to know its weight. I would say can be easily 2900 kilos based on the sheer amount of metal in its complex drivetrain
The so called 3 diff locks is just some electronic wizardry, which tries to emulate a locked center differential, keeping torque split 50/50 between front and rear, the front and rear diffs however physically lock
@@jonahfastre please don't k*ll me, but what you said is a little incorrect. I mean the part where you described what the electronics does to emulate the center locking diff. It's actually the open diff that splits torque 50:50 front and rear, hence one wheel/axle gets immobilised while the other one spins helplessly - they both have equal, almost zero torque. Locked diff sends torque to whatever wheel/axle can apply it to the ground. That's why it's kinda pointless to mimmick the work of a locked differential with electric motors, all you need is just to cut power if the speed of the wheel/axle exceeds some predicted maximum, and there's no benefit in attempting to match the rotational speed.
Watched this video 2nd time after a few days.
my god , bro love your channel
I appreciate that! Thank you
I'm at 1:40 and, holy geesus, this thing is SICK!🤩
😆
awesome video! when the engine is generating max power 150 kw to prevent battery to empty what is the top speed we can drive at that situation?
Well, the way land rover can goes, it can goes,
very good question, i would like to know what is the peak performance when the battery is empty
@@uaesaqer The main driving force is from the electric motor, it doesn't have a traditional steps gearbox, ICE engine only add on during high speed for maximum performance and without gear change, also generate electric at the same time. so, when the battery is empty it will only drive with eco model.
Hey mate. if it doesn't have traditional transmission, how does it drive in engine only mode?
Just a guess, the engine must only drive a generator. If the batteries fail then it might be able to isolate the batteries and send the electrical current directly to the electric motors instead of to the batteries.
there is no engine only mode. there's yet a electric+engine mode means the engine generates electricity and provides power via a CVT like "transmission"
It has different driving mode, in normal mode it will start with electric motor only, up to certain speed the engine will add on, if in sport mode or power mode, the engine power will add on much earlier for maximum power output, I am not sure about if the generator can transform to become driving motor like DM-i engine for peak performance, so it doesn't have a traditional steps gearbox, ICE engine only add on during high speed without gear change and generate electric at the same time.
英文口播有点厉害了
where can I get this car , is it availabe in Dubai ??
I don't think so, but BYD may bring it there in the future. In the meantime, you can check out GWM Tank that is available in Dubai,
When is it coming to the mother land South Africa ❤
for BYD, it may take a while.
Will it ever come to Australia?
possible, BYD itself is already there with smaller cars. but tbh GWM may be a better choice
@@madev_channel They only have hybrid, no phev in off roaders at the moment.
very good review, one area should've been cover in the review is the reliability of the vehicle if you would use it for long trip in Africa. absent of part distribution is a factor that all chines cars can not compete against TOYOTA. also, what maintenance would be required during its life cycle is not presented. I love the vehicle design, range, power, however, durability and after sale service is a question for all
Time will tell.
I didn't really get a chance to drive this thing through a desert😅 But theoretically, these PHEVs will be harder to maintain.
What was the fuel economy? There have been reports of 18l/100. Love to know the real world result
18 is so absurdingly high, the one who post it was driving the car like a crazy person, drivng near 180kn/h, lots of floored throttles and hard brakes. Most people got around 8-10L/km, my co-worker even got a 6.8 in his testdrive
Best fuel economy is EM-i engine with about 4.5L/100Km
If it really has both front and rear lockers why all of the chinese offroading videos show 豹5 spinning its wheels when articulating? Looks like a mistranslation of a brake-based emulation.
It has electric diff locks,
How many kilometers before it bursts into flames.
A lot more than Kia
How long before you lose the remaining brain cells in your head 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How long before you grow a brain cell in your head@@cwdjdsd-36321cs
Maybe 1 million kilometers
You misunderstand I am referring to driving not being towed.@@avil8686
This car has 1 problem: it’s really really ugly
U mean defender
Tesla is really really ugly too but that doesn't stop it doing well in the market 😂
If anything I find the Styling to be a bit of a nostalgia trip. The rear view resembles that of a Y61 Patrol, while the grill/headlights arrangement takes me back to the late 1980's Landcruiser wagon.
a good price tag can really make up for the look😂
