  • 306-km New Rewari-New Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC)
    Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India is constructing the Western DFC (1506 Route km) and Eastern DFC (1875 route km including Sonnagar-Dankuni PPP Section). The EDFC starting from Sahnewal near Ludhiana (Punjab) will pass through the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand to terminate at Dankuni in West Bengal. The Western Corridor connecting Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai will traverse through the states of UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra of WDFC.
    The 1.5 km long trains consist of 90 BLC Wagons and two brake vans have a gross weight of 4941 tons destined to Mundra port in Gujarat.
    Front loco is WAG 12 Loco manufactured at Indian Railways make in India factory at Madhepura, Bihar.
    The second loco which is attached in the middle and working as a piped loco of the long haul train is WAG 9 of 6000 HP built from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), West Bengal, India.
    The WAG -12 electric super powered double-section locomotives of 12,000 HP are capable of hauling 6000 tonnes at a top speed of 120 kmph. They are planned to be deployed for operations on major freight routes, including the Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs), transforming the heavy freight transportation landscape of India. These locomotives manufactured at Madhepura are of 12,000-horsepower with a twin Bo-Bo design, engineered to run at a speed that is twice as faster than regular locomotives and are built to carry 6000 tonnes of goods in one go. Equipped with Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT) based propulsion technology, the WAG 12B uses regenerative braking, reducing energy consumption. With 1676 mm of Broad Gauge, these e-locos are designed to take smooth turns even at the sharpest of curves.

      @@dynamo429 this can be done with normal guage aswell. They wagons only get a a bit smaller in widt thats it. normal gauge could handle the same load. The reason why india uses broad/wide guage tracks is because all of indian tracks use broad/wide guage. Except metros, and the new rrts system uses normal guage.

    Greetings from Australia. That’s an impressive train. That must be the tallest reach I’ve ever seen on a pantograph. We double stack here but only using well wagons, as in North America, although occasionally you’ll see half height containers on top of standard containers on a normal flat car. And certainly not under overhead power lines; diesel power only.

    • @andosrailway2369

    • @vahsirartapaham4578
      @vahsirartapaham4578 Před 3 lety +41

      India has broad gauge , so it compensates for not using the well wagons , in terms of keeping the centre of gravity low

    • @finger3215
      @finger3215 Před 3 lety +30

      Well cars would only increase the length of the train. Since our gauge is bigger these cars are sufficient. Also double stacks can only run in DFC's because these corridors are built with extra height clearance.

    • @Crosshead1
      @Crosshead1 Před 3 lety +12

      @@finger3215 our double stack trains in Australia are usually about 1800 metres long. The length is restricted by the length of passing loops, as most of our long distance routes are single track. The new Inland Rail route being built between Melbourne and Brisbane is planned to eventually have 3600 metre passing loops to allow longer trains.

    • @finger3215
      @finger3215 Před 3 lety +32

      @@Crosshead1 Well the problem with freight in India is that freight trains for long have shared the same tracks as passenger ones. So all around our tracks too are built more according to shorter passenger trains. This forced the freights to be short as well. Once our DFC gets all running, we will be relieved of slow trains, hopefully.

      every locomotive works for diffrent purpose for example-WAP7 (Co-Co ) bogie system) is used by most Rajdhani express ( heavy loads requires more power) because of good Tractive effort than WAP5 ( Bo-Bo)for Shatabdi exp ( for high speed with lessload & quick accelaration )

    One of the main reasons north India is less developed is due to lack of infrastructure as companies cannot transfer goods quickly and the cost via road is high and slow with this we can change that also it runs on electricity we can save on oil imports also since it is a seperate line passenger trains can take more time we already lowered the corporate tax the only remaining impediment is the land acquisition which can be solved by creating special economic zones along the freight corridors
