Hands up! I am dripping with envy. Yes, my wife and I have been all over the Indian sub-continent...but to fly in and out of Lukla, and with your youngsters in tow? Wow. Respect! What an experience that must have been.
To stand at the foot of Everest was one of Angela‘s dreams from childhood. Although we didn’t make it all the way to Basecamp, we spent time in the foothills looking at her 🗻and that was good enough. We took our kids to show them that they’re capable of much more than they ever imagine And look at what they achieved! You could always take a trip to Kathmandu and just fly up to Lukla for the day??
Lukla in snow is VERY pretty but quite worrying to fly out of! Alan got got the last tea house before base camp but stopped there. He’d been ill from Namche onwards. Angela developed a chest infection between Kathmandu and Lukla but managed all the way up to the trek to base camp from the highest tea house but turned back.
