THIS IS PEFECT! So helpful! I have a jack sparrow costume, but never got a hat! I'll definitely be using this! Thank you!
Thanks Alyson! And you are very welcome 👍👍
I needed one that fits my Jack wig and all the dreads. This will definitely get me there!
As always making foam look like real leather. Hands down amazing
Thank you very much!
This is perfect to help with a Captain Jack Sparrow cosplay, thank you.
You're welcome!
this method of attaching the brim is so much better than other patterns I've used before!!! it looks so seamless and beautiful
Thanks!
That turned out really good! I'm impressed with how simple the structure is and how well the painting made it look like leather! The tinfoil technique helped a lot but the paint and finishes sell it!
Thank you!
Love this! I am making it for my husbands Halloween costume. Your video says you can make this hat for around $5, I suppose you can if you already have all the supplies but it's pretty pricey when you don't have any of the supplies. I am still going to make it though since it's WAY better than anything I have seen for purchase online.
That’s how I read those kinds of comments, too 😂
Really awesome job with the textures/paint!
Thank you very much! 😂
I'm creating a pirate look for ren faire this year and i am so excited to use this technique to craft a hat that tells the story of the character i am creating! Thank you so much for posting!
That’s awesome! And you’re welcome 👍

I used your pattern with a few mods to sew a hat out of felt. Thanks for the inspiration!

The nicks, scars, and wrinkles really make this look convincing!
Thanks! It’s all about adding character to the prop 👍
So So helpful! Thank you so much for the template and the detailed tutorial!!
You’re welcome! 🙌
Great job. Already got a few but nicely done. It looks more like my real hat instead of foam.
I want to thank you.. Thanks to you I managed to make a copper pirate hat. It's a shame I can't show you how it turned out. Once again grateful. Greetings from Cuba
Glad I could help!

The ocd in me saw the seem in the dome and now i cant unsee it. what would you do to cover that up without hampering the leather texture look?

Already doit. Not the same. But quite enough! Thanks 🙏🏻
Que hermoso trabajo, lo haré espero quedé tan lindo como el suyo
Thank you very much I'm sure yours will turn out great!
Gonna try to modify the look to make it look like the hunters tricorn from bloodborne! Hope it will turn out nice!
I will try to make it using 2 EVA to glued together to make them thicker, I don't know of it will work but I hope so
I'd love to see you building Raizo's chain dagger from my guilty pleasure movie "Ninja Assassin" one day, that would be awesome!
Great video, now to cut some stock and check fit for my 5 year old grandson. 👍
Fantastic! Glad I could help 👍
Realmente sorprendida por su trabajo, muy pulcro y bello. Gracias por compartir el paso a paso

Mil gracias bro y ya tienes a un suscriptor mas y un cordial saludo desde Guatemala el país de la eterna PRIMAVERA. 🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🎆🎆🎆🎆
Fantastic! Welcome to the Channel!
Awesome! Gotta say did not think I would be hyperfixating on figuring out how to make a Puss in Boots plushie, but this is the world we live in apparently! Very helpful!
Thanks! 🙌
Used this for my bloodborne cosplay
Awesome glad it could help 👍
Hermoso me encanto
Thanks!
An awesome tutorial over what should be a simple design. Quick question on the plastidip: how did you apply it, if at all, in the areas where the brim is glued to the dome?
Thanks! The Plasti dip really only needs to be in wear areas on the outside. if I can’t get it to cover under the brim or hard to reach areas I just paint that by hand with some black acrylics 👍
My 6-year old is insisting we make a pirate hat, and his standards for this project are surprisingly high. 😂 Thanks for the pointers.
You’re welcome! Good luck and have fun 🙌
Genial!!!
Thanks!
Take all you can and Give nothing back! I was just using that foil technique earlier today.
Yo ho! 👍
Muito legal 👏👏
Thanks!
Your plague doctor mask served me very well and now this is exactly what I needed for my daughter's Halloween costume! Any tips on how to resize the pattern for smaller sizes? Thanks!
I would prob drop it 10-15% and see how that size looks
Yaaar!
Me matey!!!
Que trabalho incrível!! Parabéns ☺️👍🏻
Thank you!
@sksprops it looks really cool. I was wondering.. could this be used to make a musketeer hat..
I think with a combination of this and cut down my top hat pattern and it would work
hola , podrias darme las medidas de las partes del sombrero por favor , es que en mi adobe acrobat no aparece la opcion de poster en la seccion de escala de pagina .

Welcome to the channel!
Looks just as great as I expected from Instagram :D I can't wait to make it for my undead pirate costume. Quick question tho, because I struggle to find anything, do you sell your HD Foam via EU vendors as well?
Thanks! As of right now my products are exclusive through Blick Art Materials in the US I know Poly Props sells decent foam overseas not quite as good as mine...but better than floor mats
@@SKSProps Thanks ^^ I'll keep my eyes peeled if you ever expand
🤯 I seriously thought that was leather at first!
The magic of paint!! 👍👍
do you have a video on how to make a bi-corn hat foe and aft where the 2 end corners are one in the front and one in the back?Rich
nope, but check out my friends punished props they did one simialr for sea of theives a while back you could probably manipulate
❤️👏
I made mine following this but with felt 😬
upon the queen death, can you did diy from foam for imperial state crown
♥️♥️♥️
🙌🙌
Used this build to make a tiny hat for a faux crow. Worked perfect 👍 thanks
That's great!
Without bending the sides up that alone painted black with some feathers would be a great barbossa hat
Awesome as always :D small question, if i want to make this for a child how much smaller should i scale the template? 80%?
Depends on how small I’d say more like 30-40% but you’ll just have to play with the scaling
@@SKSProps thank you, will sure to tag you when i get it done :D
God the impression of the leather fanatics was so on point. Same with people who want you to make your own chainmail shirt instead of using an alternative😩
🤣🤣 glad you liked it! 👍
Could you do one of a cowboy hat?
You could easily modify the top hat pattern I put out a couple weeks ago
hey dude i love your Jack sparrow hat! can you make davy jhones one two?!
Looks great! I did a lot of the same techniques to make Arthur Morgan's hat from Red Dead Redemption 2 in a recent video, your video editting skills are better than mine :D
Thanks! and your video and hat looked good to me it just takes practice 👍
@@SKSProps Thanks Steve!
I would like do a 1/6 scale of those for my figures
I actually saw someone do that with this, my top hat, and witch hat
@@SKSProps really ?
How do u measure the head ? I see u use 4 pieces to make the round head part
You should do a barbossa one
it would be the same basic pattern you just don't pin up the edges
@@SKSProps oh alright but his kinda curves at on end, so to I just heat that part up so it kinda bends up? (Also then davy jones would be cool too)
Man, if I’d found this video a couple of days ago, I could have saved myself a lot of time and money 😅
😅
How do I measure for my head and the ojutside of the brim?
watch the how to print templates video and print out the template
I like this design and the template, I'm going to use it and just not fold up the tricorn as a cowboy hat!
Fantastic!
@@SKSProps For the record, it turned out great! Lots of pictures were taken at the con from people who recognized the costume (Bandit from the Risk of Rain franchise) :)
hello good night. Where can I get the triangle mold you use to make the inside of the hat?
The link to the downloadable pdf temple is in the video description
Why do you use cement sometimes but super glue others?
Most of the time I prefer superglue because it dries faster and adding additional heat won’t weaken the bond. I use contact cement if it is a large or very heavy wear area
I would like to use this pattern to make my son a hat as he's obsessed with Jack Sparrow. However, my printer does not have a poster option. What are the dimensions of the poster option your reference in the video? Thanks!
You need to follow the directions on my site and open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the page size area that scales it properly over several sheets regardless of your paper size
How would I translate this to leather? Such as attaching the top to the brim with stitching?
I’m not a leather worker but check out my friends prince armory they could prob give some tips
