I really find this interesting. As a Liberian man I’ve always wondered why is it we never promote our way of speaking English. I mean living in America when I go to Liberia I’m forever correcting somebody forgetting that that’s how we speak back home. Honestly it’s nothing to be ashamed of because there’s no right way to speak so call English. I feel though every “English” speaking country speaks English in their own unique way. SO THANK YOU SIR FOR THIS.

In rural parts of the USA, especially in the south, you can still hear the word “chigger” in reference to a small type of flea. It ultimately derives from “chigoe” in the Cariban languages found on the northern coasts of South America. Neat that the word also persists in Liberian English.
