Maryse has the Character Development of a lifetime. She starts having the bare minimum love for everyone including herself, only focused on her work. To becoming a woman filled with so much love, happiness, acceptance, and confidence. And while yes he is still a Cheater Robert is much better in the show than the books.
I think that that is what I appreciated the most about this show. They made these characters so complex and rich like real people. None of us are all good or all bad and regardless of what we're like most of the time, we have good and bad moments. Even though it's a world full of magic and monsters, it was grounded in relationships. Beautiful show.
in the book it's actually Robert the one that's homophobic instead of Maryse. Maryse except Alec faster than Robert. Robert even once ask Alec how did he "turn" gay. And Robert didn't except Magnus until Max Matthew Lightwood-Bane appears
this scene made me so emotional when i first saw it soley because of the line "i'm the same person i've always been. now everything's just out in the open" is such a great way to put the feeling of coming out, and explain to people who don't understand it. bless this show for everything it did for the lgbt communtiy's rep in media
All Alec did was choose Lydia to marry but then couldn’t go through with it. His parents wanted him to marry but I think they had someone else in mind. They still wanted him to marry. If they hadn’t decided that Alec had to get married, this wouldn’t have happened. Alec was in no hurry to get married to anyone.
