How did the cream of wheat guy get thrown into this? He's just a black chef.

True: Changing logos won't fix the problem, but the action helps to make images less permissive. Branding serves a purpose. If you can accept that, then the importance of changing the images, nicknames, etc.
If we can change these logos, and make these images less common place, that can help to change people's minds about racism and inequality.

@slayer This is not a 'everything about race' issue. It is, however, about, 'you are making it racial by not seeing that this is an example of racially offensive. I get that a lot of people won't be aware of how it can be a problem for some. We know that it isn't offensive to everyone.

Imagine being more interested in being offended and wanting to force change than actually reading up on history
Did you read the history behind these black figures? Oh wait you didn’t because you are clearly very hypocritical. Imagine telling people to read about history in order to spark change and then complaining when people create change after reading about the history.
@Simon Leal Uhm, this is change due to those like you who have “studied” your history, I’ll give you that. But it still seems you need a further education. Maybe not in history but in language. So here you go:
equal [ee-kwuhl] (=) *the symbol*
as great as/the same as
What I’m seeing here is not equality. I’m seeing everyone trying to find something from a time period that has no concern to them and make it personal just to complain about it. All that’s happening here is that these companies are now tearing off the faces of many black/Native American/Hispanic/etc. icons on their packaging. So what, when it comes to the past?! Let’s fix what is going on now. Your kids, my kids, etc. they weren’t even going to know that these brands had an offensive history associated with them unless that is how you chose to bring them up. “Kids this brand shows the face of a slave so you should be offended if other kids support the brand and call out said kids for being racist” is technically what you will teach them. Bottom line is that the kids who support the brand wouldn’t be supporting it because of the brand packaging but the recipe. A recipe which you should be proud to associate with Aunt Jemima. And instead of teaching your kids the negative view, instead teach them “Aunt Jemima was a wonderful woman back in the past. She made the best syrup recipe that I put on your pancakes. Share it with your friends as we should all bond over such an accomplishment”. And I bet she was a wonderful woman. So why don’t you talk about her like so and have her face on brands instead of a tearing it down due to being a slave in the past? Now all you have left are packaging with text and/or a white man/woman’s face. Why? Because you are only tearing down the faces of those who have a negative connotation within their history. “If they were a slave tear it town“ is what you are doing. To me that is the most racist thing I can ever hear/see.
You want equality but this isn’t equal. Those people weren’t just slaves/etc. They were people. And you don’t seem to see that. Put aside the slave/offensive facts, they were black/Native American/Hispanic/etc. and you don’t want to see them on packaging. But someone like Mr. Clean gets to stay upon shelves. Y’all have indirectly become racist because you just want to be offended so you can feel as if you are being supportive. But because you are blindly trying to be offended/supportive you have lost your true aim on how to help the cause.
For next class we are learning about the word “offensive”. If you would like you can sit in on that lecture as well. Class dismissed.

The world knew her as "Aunt Jemima," but her given name was Nancy
Green and she was a true American success story. Born a slave in 1834
Montgomery County, KY, she became a wealthy superstar in the
advertising world, as its first living trademark.
While in Kentucky, Green was employed by Charles Walker, then an
attorney and later a distinguished Circuit Judge. She moved with the
family to Chicago just after the Great Fire in 1872.
Walker heard that a friend was looking for a model for the Aunt Jemima
character, and he suggested Green who, by that time, had served the
family for many years. She was instantly recognized with the
characteristics the guy was looking for... charisma, humor, and a
fantastic cook.
Green was 56-yrs old when she was selected as spokesperson for the new
ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour and made her public debut in
1893 at the World’s Fair in Chicago. She demonstrated the pancake mix
while serving up thousands of pancakes... and became an immediate
star. She was a wonderful storyteller, her personality was warm and
appealing, and her showmanship was exceptional. Her exhibition booth
drew so many people that special security personnel were assigned to
keep the crowds moving.
Nancy Green was signed to a lifetime contract, traveled on promotional
tours all over the country, and was extremely well paid. Her
financial freedom and stature as a national spokesperson enabled her
to become a philanthropist, a leading advocate against poverty, and a
fighter for equal rights.
She maintained her job until her death in 1923, at age 89, after
becoming one of America’s first black millionaires.
This was a remarkable woman... and she has just been ERASED by
politically correct liberal bedwetters.

I have always viewed and thought this as a honour to black people. It has never come to my mind this was racist. What an irony!
When you realize that what they are fighting against is really giving in.
What's next famous Amos? And the be crying there's no blacks on food boxes
He’s still alive so that probably won’t happen
I thought it was a good idea when they changed Aunt Jemima's image to a modern black lady, a few years back. I have noticed that they no longer have Ken Davis's image anymore on his barbecue sauce bottles. Are they just going to call it Quaker Oats pancake mix & syrup?
I loved Aunt Jemima. She did cooking proud. I won't but the newly named brand 😢
NO COMMENT, IM OUT, 😑
I’m so grossed out by that recording. What is wrong with this country?
They_Call_Me_ Pebbles I think you misunderstand me meaning. I’m grossed out by the old commercial that demeans her.
If this is the route society is taking then is Cocoa Puffs, Fruity Pebbles, El Sombrero beans, Rosarita beans, Taco Bueno, Taco Bell, and Tapatio Hot sauce to name a few racist?! I mean they can deconstruct names, symbols, and images to death and find racist undertones in everything! This has gotten soo silly and ridiculous...
I took a theater class and learned that blacks were never forced to do minstrel... They wanted to really bad
You learned that from who?
Ramon Guevara Shut up dummy! Don’t be so loud and wrong Paco. Are you even legal?😆
@@lilnarm_smoothblaze The all time liberal PBS documentary
I never liked that box branding. I'm 37, not gonna miss it.
Tapatio sombrero man, put him in a suit n tie. Rosarita refried beans, put her in a hardhat and give her a clipboard
How is this going to end racism?
Nah! Unbelievable I thought uncle Ben's was bad but this just takes the biscuit.
Now the family wants them to keep it, I guess they will tell them the black people that they don't understand.
When will this nightmare end 😅
Get over it, Brad. It doesn't even effect you lmao.
Keep the original mascots for those brands, if it offends you, go buy a different brand that's not offensive.
Aunt Jemima is back now at Stater Bros. and am glad . It is the best pancake mix.
They're not doing nothing for racism
