    • @sniperdude4956
      @sniperdude4956 Před 4 lety +5

@Simon Leal Uhm, this is change due to those like you who have “studied” your history, I’ll give you that. But it still seems you need a further education. Maybe not in history but in language. So here you go:
      equal [ee-kwuhl] (=) *the symbol*
      as great as/the same as
What I’m seeing here is not equality. I’m seeing everyone trying to find something from a time period that has no concern to them and make it personal just to complain about it. All that’s happening here is that these companies are now tearing off the faces of many black/Native American/Hispanic/etc. icons on their packaging. So what, when it comes to the past?! Let’s fix what is going on now. Your kids, my kids, etc. they weren’t even going to know that these brands had an offensive history associated with them unless that is how you chose to bring them up. “Kids this brand shows the face of a slave so you should be offended if other kids support the brand and call out said kids for being racist” is technically what you will teach them. Bottom line is that the kids who support the brand wouldn’t be supporting it because of the brand packaging but the recipe. A recipe which you should be proud to associate with Aunt Jemima. And instead of teaching your kids the negative view, instead teach them “Aunt Jemima was a wonderful woman back in the past. She made the best syrup recipe that I put on your pancakes. Share it with your friends as we should all bond over such an accomplishment”. And I bet she was a wonderful woman. So why don’t you talk about her like so and have her face on brands instead of a tearing it down due to being a slave in the past? Now all you have left are packaging with text and/or a white man/woman’s face. Why? Because you are only tearing down the faces of those who have a negative connotation within their history. “If they were a slave tear it town“ is what you are doing. To me that is the most racist thing I can ever hear/see.
You want equality but this isn’t equal. Those people weren’t just slaves/etc. They were people. And you don’t seem to see that. Put aside the slave/offensive facts, they were black/Native American/Hispanic/etc. and you don’t want to see them on packaging. But someone like Mr. Clean gets to stay upon shelves. Y’all have indirectly become racist because you just want to be offended so you can feel as if you are being supportive. But because you are blindly trying to be offended/supportive you have lost your true aim on how to help the cause.
For next class we are learning about the word “offensive”. If you would like you can sit in on that lecture as well. Class dismissed.

Next obese and people that are ticklish will be butt hurt over the Pillsbury doughboy. They will have to change the picture on the Quaker oats containers. T And the Italians will protest over Chef Boyade spaghetti. I never in all the years that I have used Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup ever looked at it as being a racial stereotype. My only thought was that this the best pancake mix and syrup on the market and it is represented by a black woman. The same goes for Uncle Bens rice. The woman that the Aunt Jemima character was based on was a millionaire because of it. I have been a Pepsi man for over 40 years, I will now be drinking Coca-Cola products and will not be buying anything that says Quaker on it. No more KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, or Wings Street. I don't know of any black American that is directly affected in these modern times because of slavery. We are not African Americans, we are Americans born here and raised here. If you can't accept that there are many modes of transportation leaving this country, feel free to use any one of them. People should be more concerned about how the government is cutting up the constitution and stripping away our civil liberties than this nonsense.

The world knew her as "Aunt Jemima," but her given name was Nancy
Green and she was a true American success story. Born a slave in 1834
Montgomery County, KY, she became a wealthy superstar in the
advertising world, as its first living trademark.
While in Kentucky, Green was employed by Charles Walker, then an
attorney and later a distinguished Circuit Judge. She moved with the
family to Chicago just after the Great Fire in 1872.
Walker heard that a friend was looking for a model for the Aunt Jemima
character, and he suggested Green who, by that time, had served the
family for many years. She was instantly recognized with the
characteristics the guy was looking for... charisma, humor, and a
    fantastic cook.
Green was 56-yrs old when she was selected as spokesperson for the new
ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour and made her public debut in
1893 at the World’s Fair in Chicago. She demonstrated the pancake mix
while serving up thousands of pancakes... and became an immediate
star. She was a wonderful storyteller, her personality was warm and
appealing, and her showmanship was exceptional. Her exhibition booth
drew so many people that special security personnel were assigned to
    keep the crowds moving.
Nancy Green was signed to a lifetime contract, traveled on promotional
tours all over the country, and was extremely well paid. Her
financial freedom and stature as a national spokesperson enabled her
to become a philanthropist, a leading advocate against poverty, and a
    fighter for equal rights.
She maintained her job until her death in 1923, at age 89, after
becoming one of America’s first black millionaires.
This was a remarkable woman... and she has just been ERASED by
    politically correct liberal bedwetters.

Jovann Pena This is a deeply facile and silly comparison. Read about Harriet Tubman please. She’s one of the most courageous and heroic people who ever walked. She escaped slavery and repeatedly went back to enable the escape of hundreds of others at immense personal risk. Her life was an emphatic rebuke to the system of slavery. Aunt Jemima, on the other hand, represents acquiescence to and comfort with that system, and it encouraged the revisionists myth-making around slavery that allowed white people to feel comfortable with and even celebrate that brutal history. The two representations are diametrically opposed.
