    Man oh man your watermelon patch looks just like mine this year. Lots of smaller melons, heavy heavy cucumber beetle issues (and I have been spraying weekly which is way more than I like to do) but as I’ve said way too dry for us. For you it’s morning glory for me it is goose grass. That started showing up about 3 years ago and has taken over. My cantaloupe vines have given up the ghost - just trying to keep the watermelon vines going until the melons ripen. Many people I know down here in sw Ohio had poor bean crops too. Yours look great. I don’t raise all these vegetables for a living and I’m getting anxious to wrap up the season so I can imagine how tired you are by this time of year. We will pray for a successful end of the season for you and our church always offers a prayer up for all farmers every week during the season so you are included in that.

    You should try selling some bouquets of morning glory flowers. You certainly have enough of them, you just need to harvest them and put them on display.
    Your subscribers have gone up to 9,000, now you just need to get a viral video to really jump the subscriber numbers.

    Maybe you could attach some retractable casters so it can sit on its normal legs once in place. Good luck.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  Před 25 dny

      That’s a great idea, but I’m not sure how you would get them un retracted when you’re ready to move the machine, if I have to lift it up with the forklift to get the casters underneath it, I might as well just move it with the forklift, but that is a great suggestion. I will look into that.

    It's crazy to see all the similarities between our farms. You have morning glories with purple-red flowers, I have blue. I also have six other vines, one with tiny white flowers, one with red stems, field bind weed, they all suck. My best field had a big low spot I put up with for years with low to no yield. Five years ago I ran two drain tile which helped, should have ran six, hind sight 20/20. Last summer I bought a huge two shank ripper and sub-soiled all my fields 24'' deep every two feet and wow what a difference in how fast I was able to work ground after a rain. I only plant five acres of sweetcorn but I pick every ear myself. I did get some help this year to work the 1,000 tomatoes in the hoop houses, plants are going down hill now, grey leaf mold is terrible again this year. Fall broccoli and cauliflower are a foot tall and thriving in this cooler weather. Worms are always a problem, I used Coragen insecticide and gave each plant some directly in the soil, zero worm damage so far. My crimson sweet watermelons are still a couple weeks away but looking beautiful. I'm not growing pumpkins this year, much easier to let the Amish raise them, didn't have enough water in my ponds to grow them anyway. Driest June in history here in southeastern Ind. I don't know how you find the time to make all your videos, but I sure enjoy watching your much bigger operation. I've suffered from burn out in the past and it can be a challenge to work through it, thanks for sharing

    We’re close in age. Give others the chance to fail, so you can identify your champions, then pull back with them, and give them a chance to launch. I don’t have the big picture, don’t know what you’re working with. So take what I say with a grain of salt.😊

    We still grow seeded watermelon and seeing alot of pressure from customers to go seedless. If you had to pick one seeded variety for me to start out with what would it be? Thanks for another great video.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  Před 26 dny

      Hey Mike, I’ve grown numerous different varieties over the years, we are currently growing El Capitan and red garnet because we like the darker rind pattern. I’ve also grown sugar heart, millionaire, revelation, harmony, fascination, the list goes on and on.

    • @mikewalter8547
      @mikewalter8547 Před 26 dny

      @@wishwellfarms We live in a pretty rural area with alot of older people but we are finding more and more customers just want seedless. My biggest problem is I have a 20 by16 hot house to do my starts in and im cramed to the max in spring time and I know you have to start seedless. The watermelons I grow know I seed them in plastic May 1st.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  Před 26 dny

      @@mikewalter8547 there are all several companies that grow seedless watermelon starts for you and they shipped them to you so that could be an option because seedless watermelons are very difficult to germinate, sometimes I get a pretty bad germination rate. I’ve never used this option, but I know it’s out there and you can also get them grafted.

    • @wishwellfarms
      @wishwellfarms  Před 25 dny +1

      Honey rocks are not really being grown anymore, at least not by commercial growers but that’s just what people call cantaloupes around here. 99% of the time the variety is actually not honey rock, we grow avatar and Aphrodite just as many others do.
