Hello my dear friends.
I am happy to share a new work from my workshop with you. This time our story is about blacksmithing.
I shaped the steel and finally brought it to razor sharpness as usual. I made the angle of the blade with file with a delicate handwork. Kiridashi is an all-purpose Japanese knife. At one time, kiridashi was also made in the form of fish. In this work, I was inspired by this period and made a whale tail form. This form fit very well in the hand.
I didn't do a high finishing that would spoil the hand made look. I even did some work to strengthen this old and craft look.
At the end of my work, I tested it with wood. There is one more bonus test at the end of the video.
I am very happy to work and present something to you, I hope you will share this pleasure with me while watching.

Very satisfying and absolutely top class blacksmithing video .I really liked the brushed look the gem dust gave it. The tail looks like the rough skin of a whale's tail. The razor sharp edge is an OldHand classic. The hand made look fits the whale form very well. Overall perfect job !!! Cheers Gentleman 🥃

That looks like a vintage lathe that has been expertly restored.

@@helenakhudyna2360 Greetings to Ukrain. I have been in Kosiv town 5 or 6 years ago. I visited some workshops of gorgeous traditional woodworkers. They were old and vise guys, gifted craftsmen. Beautiful workshops in the nature. I went to a wood craft bazaar in the middle of the night. I had a lot of respect for all the women working in that cold night in the bazaar. In the course of my vocational training I learned some blacksmith work, I can, for example, make a horseshoe from a piece of steel strip, as I am a trained animal nurse with a specialty in horses.

Most satisfying video my friend, absolutely top class. I am familiar with the fishy style of Kiridashi, very difficult choice for your first blacksmithing video, but I commend your effort and it turned out beautifully. I love the brushed look the gem dust gave it at the base of the tail, it looks like the rough skin of a whale's tail, very nice. I can also appreciate the overall hand-made look to it, you live up to your name well. I was very very happy to see the fuzzy companions too in such a beautiful light of day, thank you so much, that really made my day. Great show as always, see you next time!

What does the fish-tail do ?????
The fish shape is traditional in these knives. I adapted this shape to easy grip ✌🏻⚙️⚒️
