yeah I can see how it can be likable but I think the Sonic fans still dealing with the shock of the movie media being a lot less 'Sonic'-like than other Sonic media are gonna prioritize their feeling about that before considering the show to 'just be a show'. Inherent blue bias, I'll call it.

Only thing with Jeff Fowler that has me concerned is apparently word is that he doesn't like Rouge, so I hope that isn't what makes him decide to not add her in movie 3 for our Team Hero and Team Dark dynamic, otherwise Knuckles won't have his own antagonist while the others do theirs. If it turns out she's not would rather hear it was due to Paramount not being on board (given design despite that it can be toned down given Heroes/Prime costumes) than it being the decision from the man himself. I'll just be baffled if Amy's part of the story instead of Rouge.

I'm literally so confused because I don't understand who the target demographic of this show is. It doesn't appeal to kids since the fun, colorful cartoon characters they like are barely in it past a certain point. It isn't for the fans since it flat-out rarely uses anything from the games outside of arbitrary stuff for silly gags. And it most certainly isn't for parents since the jokes are far too juvenile and overexegrated. The ONLY other thing I can think of is that this show was made to win over the reviewers who said that the wedding scene in Sonic 2 was the best part of that film, but that's really it. With every Sonic project, I can at least rationalize some decisions that were made, regardless of how they affect the quality of the project itself. But with Knuckles? I have nothing. This is the first Sonic project in recent memory where I literally have no clue what their thought process was while making it.

I mean, the developers knew that these are the most likable characters in their shows, so they put them everywhere in trailers, ads, promotions, etc. But then, when you're in the middle of the show/season, you realize that they won't do anything with both characters, and they are completely sidelined and instead decided to focus on boring/annoying side characters.

This series pretty much showed how this Sonic universe is really being held back by being a live action CGI hybrid. You have Knuckles who's a treasure hunter and the last of his tribe who has rivals like Rouge and side adventures with the Chaotix and they decide to make him mentor the comic relief cop from the movies for a bowling competiton. The prequel Sonic 2 comic showed us the potential of this world outside of earth with all these cool reimaginings of the classic game zones and sci fi aesthetic to them but this insistence on including live action humans instead of making these entirely animated just keeps this stuff focused on Alvin and the Chipmunks level stories and is making the Sonic characters take a back-seat in their own show.
After Sonic 3 they should make these entirely animated and take better advantage of the Sonic universe

Based. I agree with you that the movies should have been animated, but I would have been okay with the films being live-action as long as they didn't do the "Sonic is an alien from another planet! XD" bullshit because it makes it hard to include anthro characters in the films and Sonic was from Earth anyway in the original Japanese version of the games ('Mobius' is an American creation). We're almost three films in and we don't even know for sure yet whether or not Amy will be in the third film despite her belonging to a group of Sonic characters that I call the 'Big Five' (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Robotnik). The most fundamental flaw of the live-action Sonic films isn't that they're live-action films but that they don't happen on a version of Earth where humans and anthros have lived together all along, just like in the original Japanese version of the games. It's incredibly disappointing to me. The only two words that come to my mind when I think of the live-action Sonic films are 'wasted potential'. After Sonic 3, I hope they make a new trilogy of Sonic movies that are entirely animated with all of the major anthro characters appearing in the first film of that trilogy.

    @Fractorification Před měsícem +35

I think what this show was missing was seeing more time between Knuckles and Wade bonding. See, Knuckles arguably gets developed by episode 3 by spending time with Wade's mom and learning the value of family. After that, he doesn't get much growth or has anything else to do till the finale. Wade then takes center stage getting developed further making the character arcs seem one-sided here. So when the finale comes around, it's mostly Wade using his newfound confidence to stand up to the buyer. They try to give Knuckles this big moment where he's fighting for his home, but since his last mayor growth happened back in episode 3, it doesn't feel as earned. They needed more scenes of him appreciating earth as a cause worth defending to sell it.
So, going back to my first point, have Wade teach Knuckles how to bowl, and make him realize what made it so special to him and why he wants to prove himself to his father. And in turn, have Knuckles teach Wade how to be more confident. Instead of doing it through a musical, have Knuckles retell that story to him and explain how he was scared. his clan was in danger and his father was dead, yet he somehow found the strength to defeat Ibliss and push on. But ever since then, his spark is gone since he doesn't feel like he has someone to fight for anymore. You could even throw in an internal conflict that because he lacks a spark, he can't activate the flames of disaster anymore, until Wade's speech in the finale brings it back.
A moment of sincerity like that would've make their arcs far more satisfying. I'm just spitballing here though. Obviously these ideas need to be redrafted properly, but you get the point.

YES Oh my goodness exactly!!! That re-imagining of how Knuckles' backstory is revealed to Wade/the audience is pretty much just what I was thinking!! It could even be a good opportunity to show more of Pachacamac - and, yes, Tikal as well! - being there for Knuckles after Locke's passing. (Yes, I know Knuckles' dad isn't technically given a name in the Paramount continuity. But he has a name in the Archie comics continuity & that seems to be the only one where he has one so we'll just go with that i guess lol)
& on the note of Tikal; since Pachacamac was clearly shown to be a benevolent mentor sort of figure, it stands to reason that the whole conflict with Chaos wouldn't have happened. & if Iblis exists near them, it wouldn't be out of the question for Chaos & the Chao to also live nearby as well.
Perhaps Chaos and Iblis could be from the same species or something & Iblis ended up going rogue for whatever reason, & the reason why Knuckles has to be the one to ultimately defeat Iblis is because Chaos is preoccupied with taking care of the chao, & so is Tikal basically; whereas Pachacamac is preoccupied with overseeing the tribe and keeping them calm & orderly about the situation. It would be a great opportunity to show Knuckles having friends, to see his home; hell, maybe even see Lara-Le (Knuckles' mother/Locke's wife).
It would also be preferable imo if Pachacamac being at the bowling alley was a real confirmed thing instead of dubiously being some sort of dream sequence thing. Again, that would give more opportunity for Tikal (& perhaps again, Chaos & the chao!) to show up! Even if she's only there as much as... well, as much as Knuckles is in the official release of the series, it would still be pretty cool, and it would make more sense for someone like Tikal or Pachacamac to have that side role instead of... y'know. The titular character of the series.
The scene with them going home on the motorcycle could happen before the credits, and then the after-credits scene could just be a shorter version of the musical number thing with Wade, where it's him doing that as a way to explain everything he learned about Knuckles' life & such while he's back home talking with The Wachowski's.
It could end on some funny moment of Tikal being amazed & delightfully applauding the performance, while everyone else - especially Knuckles, and least especially Tom (if he's there) because he's used to Wade's antics by now - is just dumbfounded at how hilariously ridiculous the whole thing is lol. Sounds kind of long for a post-credits scene I suppose, but again; a shortened version of the song could make it work!

Thank you Sam, we can really feel how much you care for these characters ❤
I remember seeing a IGN review saying "This show nails whats great about the Sonic movies" and I think that couldn't be farther from the truth. Now this isn't to say there's nothing good about this show. I agree with Sam that the first two episodes are pretty good and I honestly like Wade and Knuckles's dynamic. But this show just doesn't lean on what makes these characters great and instead chooses to spend screentime on annoying/forgetful characters and leaving the main character on the sidelines.
    Viewers deserve better.
    Sonic fans deserve better.
    Knuckles DESERVES better.

I remember YMS making a good point about how with practical effects and puppets you can show them off as much as you want for the most part but with CDI they avoid bloating the budget more (and paying extra to the people who are doing the real work) so they try their hardest to find work arounds to avoid showing them all that much. Like you can do so much cool stuff with CDI so it just sucks when they don't even allow the people working on those effects to try because that means paying them more.
Like I really feel like episode 4 would have been completely different if they put more money into this project, like the problem is how they didn't make the show a even mix because of it's budget not accounting for it. Also celebrity actors are still a huge problem with this all, sinking so much money into a couple of popular voices shouldn't be the norm especially for animated projects.

    Okay, Sam.
I don't live online and am a bit wary of this online fandom still....
    But you're right.
    We gotta speak up.
    So this is for you.
And this is the short version.
Edited to add back a couple points.
Sorry for spoilers, anyone who bothered to read this without watching the show first.
    100% Agree;
    - Knuckles looked and sounded great. But his frequent absence in his own show was awkward.
    - Game music and 2D animation would have been fine, if it allowed a better quality story with more time for Knuckles to actually be here.
    - Had hoped that lore and world building would have been more relevant to this show. Am really nervous for the next film and the franchise in general, now.
Sega, can you at least let the characters have questions about themselves, their skills, where the magic things are from and how they work?
You don't have to decide all the answers right away.
And you could change your mind later, if needed.
    Things that Confused Me:
    - If Knuckles defending the house from innocent people had already happened multiple times.... Why hadn't anyone living with him tried to explain sooner that repair people are not invaders?
    - Wade. He's been goofy before but not dangerously so. He was in both the films. Why does he never wonder if Eggman is involved? Why does he make zero effort to call Tom or Sonic? If not to ask for help and advice then at least to give them some warning?
    - Wade? You were fine walking into the crowded bowling alley with this furry red alien earlier and you'll leave him unsupervised in a casino later. So... Why does he need to hide from your family at all?
    - The 'Wade should learn to rescue himself' line makes me wonder if Knuckles has temporary amnesia. You were just rescued in episode two, buddy.
-Bad guys? Wait. WHY do any of you actually NEED Knuckles? If you just want alien power sources... Couldn't you gather shed quills or magic rocks? You know, things that won't punch you? Just asking.
    - Dear Sonic. You failed to notice Knuckles converting the living room into a gladiators pit. Is everything okay? Does this mean someone could just wander off with the Master Emerald?
-Dear Wades Mom. Uhm. With respect, if your husband left you to become a professional bowler and you knew this about him... It seems like you could have located him and at least gotten child support payments or something?
    - Dear Wades Sister. Are you actually FBI or just....uhm....delusional? Sorry. You talked about your work but never went to work. So I'm just very confused. Am I meant to regard you as a bully to your brother because you're more successful? Or... is Wade actually picking on you because you believe that you're something that you're not and can never be?
    - Dear Creative Team. Congrats. You definitely got to be creative. Much respect. Was that a weird pitch for Broadway show? I'd be down for taking that concept on the road. Episode 4 left me with way more questions than answers about the characters history, though. Largely due to the absence of the involved character. Knuckles should have at least gotten to wander in, see Wade dressed up like him and offered the chance to narrate. I hope we do get to keep the friendly Echidna ghost but we'd just met him, too. So... yeah. Hard to know what to feel here. Will any of this end up being relevant? Maybe the films will ignore this and create their own backstory. We don't know yet.
    - Uhm. In the movies, even humans can throw a portal ring to open it. I'm still not really sure why the bad guys here needed a gun to do the same thing?
-Dear Actual Professional Bowlers. I'm so sorry. Clearly this show doesn't represent your sport. While it was kinda fun to see all the creative liberaties... I'm still not sure why this show featured a team tournament. They made the final feel like a singles match showdown anyway. Why is there something very Sega about that?
-Not allowing the story to end with Knuckles back in Green Hill, maybe making peace with the repair guys, feels like a missed opportunity.
Also makes me worry. Because we don't know the timeline yet. Is this show going to be a between films adventure? Or an excuse for Knuckles to be absent from the next movie?

    • @quantumcalmness71
      @quantumcalmness71 Před 9 dny

      Okay.
      Sorry.
Know you said to be balanced.
This list didn't come together as easily.
      Things I liked:
      - Uhm. Sorry. Is there a more polite way to say that I'd honestly expected for the main plot of this show to be so much worse and I'm just relieved it wasn't?
      - Everything Knuckles built. The elaborate obstacle course out in the forest, the chair, the gladiators pit. Sure, it was over the top. But it was fun to see and just nice for this character to be allowed a creative side.
      - Knuckles getting to explore the world a little. Make new friends. See different places. All that felt healthy.
      - Knuckles ability to easily adapt to different places, people and modes of transport made his history as an interdimensional traveler more credible.
      - Wade did get a chance to grow as a character and acknowledge his own history. It was nice that some of his choices showed increased trust - but yeah. The parallels to the first movie kinda robbed the last fight of a chance to feel geniune.
      - Maddie. A human who can support the heros but who still cares about things like going to work and getting her home repaired.
      - Sonicverse: A place where single moms can afford to be homeowners.
      - Sonic. It was nice to see him get a chance to acknowledge that family life had been an adjustment. He also got to be supportive, show off a few hobbies and step out of the spotlight peacefully. I'd been kinda anxious about how they were going to handle that.
      - Please can we keep the friendly Echidna ghost? Sonicverse has so many ghosts. Especially with Shadow coming to the next film.... This could be an interesting precedent.
      - Quill powered tech in general. Other humans having their own robots and portal rings. Secretive humans ditching their enemies on the Mushroom Planet for who knows how long. Lots of potential for interesting plots and consequences here.

I'm with you on this, I felt that it was strongest in the first two episodes, but by episode 3, I began to get bored of it. Knuckles' character was not given the spotlight it needed, and when they did reference things from the games' history or even things from the movie series itself, they flopped hard.
I disagree with their vision for not only Knuckles' show, but also the movies! They think it needs to fit pop-culture references, flossing, TikTok dances, cringy jokes that only the kids of today would get in order for it to be successful, and they're being blinded by the success given to them by us for the things they did correctly.
They're winning in monetary value, people are getting in the seats at the theaters and buying subscriptions to watch this show, and buying into the marketing sponsors they advertise in both...
But they're failing to capture the essence of what we loved about the games. They're failing to capture the heart and spirit of Sonic and his friends... You can bet they're probably gonna do a pretty great job with the things they do correctly in Sonic Movie 3, but they're still going to rely on the crutch of human characters that no one cares about, and cameos or casting of popular actors and actresses, putting their money on, in my opinion, the things that are not important.
I want to see a series that does the Sonic franchise justice. So far, there have been a lot of ups, but there have also been a fair bit of sacrifices in exchange that I'm starting to feel like are not worth being made.

    1. As I expected, Knuckles, his dinamic with Wade and the effects & references were the best part of the show
The first 2 episodes were by far the best. Episode 3 was still good I'd say, but its literally all downhill from there. The latter half of the show has *atrocious pacing* , Knuckles' arc felt unearned and the shocking amount of focus on Wade over Knuckles is annoying
    2. I think the reason the show honestly feels "off" is because its forced to deal with two factors out of its control:
    A) A lack of game characters - Sonic and the game cast are probably at their best interacting with *each other* and since they haven't introduced anyone else like Rouge or just even minor characters like The Chaotix, and with Sonic & Tails have a passing role, Knuckles is forced to carry the show on his own basically (don't get me wrong, I like Wade as a character and I like that we get more depth to him, but he's not the reason we're watching)
    B) Lack of focus - the main reason I can see them not introducing more game characters through this show or doing bigger stuff with the show as a whole is that they're not trying to pull and MCU (yet!)
They don't want to force people to basically have to do "homework" to keep up with the larger story
Which is a fine decision, but that leaves this show in a very weird spot where it needs to have a plot, but not so much that its a mandatory watch for Sonic 3 but not so little that it feels like a pointless endeavor.
Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation.

I really appreciate your thoughts and review. I watched this show alongside you and I was frankly surprised with just how far off the mark the show was. I'm not even a big fan of the movies, but I at least expected this to be passable. Fandoms, especially the Sonic fandom, need to be more critical of the things they love. They will keep churning out products of this quality if the only thing people have to say is "that was peak", when even deep down, they know it could've been better. Pretending that a product is perfect, just because it stars your favorite character is a lose lose for everyone involved except the companies making them. There are people behind these criticisms, and those people have feelings. These products don't have feelings. You're not hurting Knuckles' feelings by not liking the show, or Frontiers, or Prime. This community needs to learn that there are more important things than piling someone for an opinion online, because they dared to disagree with the masses. Fans only criticize in the first place because they only want the studios behind them to make a better effort. This was a budget show that lied about its premise in the marketing. Knuckles deserves better, and frankly we deserve better. Thank you for your honest and well thought out review. You're a good person in this community.

I agree entirely with the sentiment of what's being said here, not that knuckles didn't deserve a show, but that he deserved SO MUCH MORE than what WAS here...
I'm sorry, I am just still mind-boggled at the fact that knuckles is getting some sort of love in any capacity at all... because ever since Shadow's introduction, knuckles has been sidelined so hard and unnecessarily, for no reason, being stripped of everything the movie universe amazingly portrayed with his character/presence and spotlight then 'turning him into' and sidelining him to cameo, nostalgia-bait garbage with nothing and no reasons to like him to begin with (in the games)...( being a knuckles fan is rough, and I am not kidding when I say that ever since this was ANNOUNCED, this was my most anticipated project in the sonic franchise... YES, ABOVE PRIME, FRONTIERS, AND EVEN THE 3RD MOVIE.
So it pains me to not be fully satisfied with this show (ex. story potential FOR KNUCKLES) AND see this type of drama surrounding the character, WHEN ALL I SO DESPERATELY WANT IS TO SEE MY BOY WIN...
All I pray 🙏 is that the paramount just doesn't follow in the wrong directions the games did with the writing AND with knuckles by either: accepting mediocrity (due to 'positive' feedback) OR just sidelining knuckles ONCE AGAIN AFTER FINALLY GIVING HIM EVERYTHING THE CHARACTER HAS NEEDED FOR ALMOST 2 DECADES (due to 'negative' feedback)... I similarly, just really care about these characters and universe as well as the general impact and positive nature this franchise can and does bring to people who experience it and I appreciate your heart to heart at the end of the video, in fact it also helped to motivated me to type this all out to begin with...
At this point I am just scared shitless for what the future entails for this universe in the franchise after this show (And ESPECIALLY FOR KNUCKLES, as a character and FEATURE to this franchise, and I just pray that the 3rd movie quells all those fears, and the +Shows to follow learn the CORRECT lessons there is to be learned from This show.
I just hope this FRANCHISE properly fulfills and lives up to (in some capacities) the endless possibilities the horrizon could have for us...

I enjoyed my time watching the show
It's a good show but not a Sonic show and even though I enjoyed it part of me is mad that we had a chance to get a "Knuckles show" a beloved character that mostly hasn't been done justice since SA2 back in 2001 and they robbed us of that chance they took it away from us
and it is a good show isn't enough to excuse the horrible and outrageous crime they did
And then some people are going to come out and act like oh! Sonic fans are always complaining, they were never satisfied with anything, to begin with, and "you can't please everyone in the Sonic fandom" and all that bullshit
I didn't hate on the series
But I know that people are complaining and trashing about it and have every right to do so because they promised us a "Knuckles show" but what we ended up getting was a good or ok show that has Knuckles in its background and that is in no way acceptable
Mad respect for Sam and the people fighting back, they lied to us and I believe we Sonic fans deserved better than a "good show with some Sonic references"

I’m happy that you weren’t afraid of saying what you felt and view show as is,like I seen a lot people say oh the sonic fans are mad at everything because they don’t have it your way or oh they’re mad because human character took the show then knuckles so we shouldn’t complain about it, when the show advertise it that it will be focusing on knuckle mostly but instead it’s let focus on the human more then the sonic character because human characters are more important than the sonic characters. It blatantly false advertising and we shouldn’t put up with it like we want a knuckle series that focus on knuckles with wade as the secondary main character but keep his stuff as the side plot not the main focus but balanced as I do like wade in both films but I hoped we get him as the secondary mc not he main focus but instead the ceo and higher up thought it was a good idea to make it the wade show by 95% of the show while knuckle had 20% of it, like I’m sorry but that bs on a consumer level and as a fans too. And like I want this franchise to succeed a lot but with this , I’m happy to see people criticizing it and not holding back as we deserve better especially when half of the community been hammering this in we want more focus on the Sonic character but also have the human character be involved but don’t make them the main focus make it a subplot or something that all we want

It's so weird to complain about how this show doesn't explore the Knuckles lore you love from the games when, from the very beginning, the lore of this universe is entirely different from that lore.
To me this is show is just natural biproduct of the Sonic fandom being so lenient with our response to these Paramount Sonic products. Seriously, can you even imagine a Knuckles show in this Universe that ended up being anything other than this? There isn't really anything to even explore because these versions of the characters are completely flat and absolutely nothing like their game counterparts.
This is the show the Sonic fandom deserved

Not surprised that this show was underwhelming. I think it was obvious that this was supposed to be a quick cash-grab for Paramount while Sonic 3's in production. And I'm not surprised that they deviated from the lore of the games, since honestly the Sonic movies so far have been their own thing and don't stick to the lore of the original games at all.
I just hope that Sonic 3 does Shadow justice and that the movie is essentially a retelling of Sonic Adventure 2 with more emphasis on Robotnik's background, Maria, and Shadow's character. Something tells me they aren't going to stick to the lore for this 3rd film, but I hope I'm wrong.

I personally think that humans belong in Sonic stories. But they should never EVER overshadow them! The humans do NOT hold the Sonic characters back when done well. Look at SA2 and the LIKABLE humans in Sonic X. You know what no humans means? No Shadow! Not the real one, anyway! The Sonic characters also have just as much potential when they’re fish out of water.
But this was the show’s ultimate failure. They didn’t focus on any of that! The first ten minutes were an absolute TREASURE! TAILS CALLED A DOG TO HIM! He made kiss noises and everything! So precious!🥰
Then……..they focused this show titled after an alien echidna warrior on a human’s bowling tournament! Hey, do you guys also want to watch a Tails series that focuses on a teen trying to ask someone out?

    • @Myzayu
      @Myzayu Před měsícem +1

      "No humans means no Shadow"
As a Shadow Fan that got into this series with SA2, this is exactly why I hate this extreme "NO HUMANS EVER" kind of storytelling in the Sonic Series. Yeah, we don't want "too many humans" & we don't want "too much human-focused stories" (Though, I would argue it's 'more' "mundane-focused stories.") but making Eggman "The Last Human" like how Knuckles is the last Echidna is not the solution that makes the stories better either. 'Sonic Forces' had no humans at all (Besides Eggman, obviously.), but a story featuring only Anthro Animals doesn't make for good storytelling by default either. And a character like Shadow, I would say, works best if he still has 'some' connection to humanity as their protector.
Again, it's the lack of 'balance' that's missing (And apparently the hardest to achieve in a lot of similar IPs like Sonic.).

No. Just no. Just because one side does it does not give the other side the right to do the same in return. A majority of people I’ve seen across all platforms who dislike this show express that they dislike the show and leave others who like it out of their critique. Maybe 3% of what you’re talking about actually happens. If anything, It’s the other side who does *THE EXACT THING YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!!*
So don’t you dare come in here and tell people that they can give their opinion without “making fun of or belittling people,” especially after y’all just got done doing the same damn thing with Sonic Frontiers. Night and day you people shat on those who criticized Frontiers, from its gameplay reveal, all the way up to its launch and subsequent updates. Yet it’s those “hypocrites” you call them that helped give us The Final Horizon update and all the additional content we got. Had Sega and Sonic Team listened to people like you, Frontiers would be in the same state that it was at launch.

No… Just no. After the sheer harassment that you people inflicted onto Sam to the point of driving him to LITERAL TEARS. You don’t get to play the “well the other side is just as bad” card.
Out of all the criticisms I’ve seen against the Knuckles series or heck anything Sonic related, across all platforms a majority of it has stuck to specifically the shows quality. Maybe 2% of it revolves around what you’re claiming. If anything, it’s the toxic positive side that does *THE EXACT THING YOU’RE ACCUSING THEM OF DOING!!!!!*
So don’t you dare come in here and try to say that people can give their opinions “without making fun of or belittling people”, especially after y’all just got done crapping on people who were critical of Colors Ultimate, Frontiers, and Superstars.
Night and day you people tore into anyone who criticized Sonic Frontiers, from its initial gameplay reveal, all the way up to its launch and subsequent updates. It’s actually laughable who these “hypocrites” or “critics” that you like to call them were the ones that helped us get things like the story update and the additional content that was added through updates. Had Sega and Sonic Team listened to people like you, who a majority give nothing but blanket statements and snuff out any criticism because you’ve tied so much of this franchise to your self-esteem and identity, Frontiers would still be in the exact same state that it was at launch.
There’s nothing wrong with being a fan of Sonic. But if you let your love of the franchise drive you to bully a popular Sonictuber, someone who has been pretty positive with the franchise in recent days and wants the franchise to grow, into breaking down in tears and then write a comment where you try to play victim saying that people should like and dislike whatever they want, that’s hypocrisy in its purest form buddy.

If the review is below 6/10(usually, not always, RT is sometimes really weird about the reviews it consdiers posittive), it won't be counted as a positivve.
If you look at the tweet, it says that there was only 8 reviews of the show. Now yes 7 critics gave it a positive ranking, but having only 8 critics be counted, is far from enough as to consider that a valid consensus on whetherr critics like the show or not.

I personally enjoyed the show, but yeah, it’s certainly not without its flaws. Anytime Knuckles was on screen, I was always smiling and having a good time, and there were some bits with Wade that I genuinely enjoyed. But in retrospect, it really started dragging as the show went on, especially when we got to the bowling tournament. I always try to be optimistic with content that isn’t that great, and even then I was kinda hoping for those parts to just end and for another action sequence to start, which I don’t think is a good thing for a show to have.
It’s a shame too, because I think the idea of Knuckles training Wade to “become a warrior” is a great concept. Their dynamic is great, and I do feel like there could have been some genuinely great opportunities for character development between the both of them. Knuckles could have helped Wade become more confident in himself, growing into an even better police officer who is truly capable of protecting those around him. And along the way, Wade could help teach Knuckles about the world around him and truly help him claim this planet as his home.
Oh well, all we can do is provide proper feedback to help prevent issues like this from resurfacing. It’s through our criticisms that things can improve. I mean, the Sonic movie series is literally the epitome of criticisms leading to positive change. If it weren’t for giving (constructive) criticisms, we would have never gotten the redesign and the awesome two movies we ended up getting! Don’t be sorry for giving criticisms. Sometimes it’s necessary to tell when something we love is doing something wrong for it to actually change and improve.

After watching the 6 episodes, I honestly take it for what it is. To me, it was a crazy trip... that included Knuckles, mostly as a guide for Wade. It was very engaging. Lots of silly goofy fun. The action scenes were great. I really liked Christopher Lloyd as Pachacamac. Episode 2 had me dying with laughter with Wade's daydream of rescuing Knux. The E.T. and what appeared to be "Never Ending Story" homages were entertaining. I can see why a lot of Knuckles fans who's primary focus is the "game lore" don't like this show one bit, but as a casual Sonic fan who's not a die hard Knux lore nerd, it was fine. I agree, the lack of scenes with Knuckles, especially in the last half of the episodes was a bit concerning, but I kind of felt he was at least there in "spirit" when he wasn't on screen and it had a good comeback at the end. Overall, Knux, Sonic, and Tails all looked "movie quality" good.

I wasn't a huge fan of the movies to begin with, so I'm not really surprised to see the way the Knuckles show turned out. Definitely is a huge shame, I wish we could get another sonic series like Sat AM or Sonic X, yknow. I just feel the people who are in charge of Sonic right now have a very loose grip on what the series really is.

After watching this video, I have to say that Sam is a true role model for Sonic fans everywhere!
    Now for my opinion:
I can't deny that I liked the show and thought it was good, but it is good! Nothing more, nothing less.
I agree and feel the same way Same does with almost every he said here, though I will admit that I personally found the musical bit to be very funny.
My biggest complaint with this series is that Sonic and Tails we're not seen again after the first episode, as Tails and Knuckles are my 2nd favourite Sonic characters with Sonic obviously being my favourite! I would've liked to at least see them in the post-credits scene where Knuckles informs them of his adventure if not providing minor assistance in the final battle against the Buyer.
Overall it's like Sam said, the Knuckles show could've been so much better.

I initially thought that The Buyer was going to be a weird human adaptation of Fang the hunter, with the GUN agents being his human equivalents to Bark and Bean. As for Knuckles’ side, I think it would’ve been better to take multiple people under his wing aside from just Wade, maybe include not just Wade’s Mother and Sister, but also Maddie’s sister and Crazy Carl and have a human version of Team Chaotix.

I swear it’s like we watched two different shows. Like the main reason we complain about humans in this series is because they are under developed. Here they give a sufficient amount of backstory and personality to one of the humans and it’s still a problem? Wade has just as much growth in this story as Tom does In the first sonic movie. It’s just spread across a show so knuckles can’t be in the centre of everything

I don't know anyone who's ever made that criticism, mostly it's because the human characters are there in place of having the characters everyone wants to see doing things

I didn’t expect some emotions at the end there. But I sincerely understand, and wholeheartedly agree/respect your feelings. I can tell how passionate you are when you are critical because you are coming from a place of wanting the best for the franchise. I enjoyed some parts of the show, at least Knuckles himself was good. The problems consistent of the goods weren’t enough present throughout the show for its entirety. Overall it was very whatever, if not a big step down coming off the height of Sonic movie 2. I can only hope it’s not a refection what the third movie brings to the table. I accept it as a small stakes, meaningless little spinoff. Maybe Wade will be somewhat developed or earn some growth after this. I don’t care about Wade whatsoever. But considering how his family is, that might of changed. Lol It’s so weird how dead set they were focusing on these uninteresting, annoying ass human characters in a show about a video game character, and the main draw to begin. I thought we would at least get Sonic and Tails again for the end.

I haven’t watched the show yet, and I’m most likely not going to. But this Knuckles show, with some of its really harsh criticisms from CZcamsrs like Channel Pup (he is this show’s #1 hater; I’ve never seen him so pissed off before), ultimately made me come to the conclusion that movie franchises should not go down the TV route ever, because they can only make a plot that would fill in a movie runtime. They can’t make an interesting plot that would fill up a TV show’s runtime. Besides having a premise be about Knuckles’ story with Wade in it instead of vice versa, the Knuckles show would’ve been so much better if it was a movie instead of a TV show.

I know i said this times before in previous reviews and i respect people's opinions and i can see why people don't like it, i enjoyed the show but having the focus just be Wade wasn't bad when he and Knuckles are together that's fine but when he is the main focus on the episodes it's not a knuckles show, also the bowling tournament and Wade's family were entirely pointless in my opinion. Hopefully Jeff Fowler and the whole Sonic Movie crew listen to the criticisms

Make a video about you being so happy for the knuckle show, and the crying after watching it LOL! I love how the trailer didn't have any dialogue regarding Bowling, Wade family, pistol pete, the bounty hunters. It's like they knew all the worst parts of the show and left them out of the trailer.

I'm an art student, so I understand. I saw the parallels with everything between the bars and mostly every shot in the knuckles series.. everything... people can not see the connections and parallels between SA 1 and 2. But this is my full thoughts. I am an art student at my core, and I understand the frustration with the fans and the art of sonic as a unifying brand, but i wish people would also understand and really look at the big picture. it's a connection with real family and friends. see the points and details they're setting up for the big screen. shots and feel. it's sa1 through black knight era ideas. it's treading old waters with a new modern spin for Sonic, and I can see it. the parallels of the dark era are there. I see were the writers are coming from for the bigg set up for sonic 3. re-watch it and think. I know what they are setting for this movie. it's a retelling and expansion of the sonic lore so parents and friends can understand because we are in the spring season. very adventure in terms of feel and environment. they are fixing the past dark era and shedding light on all the memories with family tied to the Sonic brand. "In the sky." Ring any bells. sounds very similar to the arc and spending time with family to me... Falling down and making leads to the actual story of SA 1 and 2. This is a reinterpretation of the story, and it is well done art wise. making it for modern audience and family is very good. Sonic is a family brand now because kids love sonic. people in the fanbase need to know that. turn the show on and bond with your family. the release was right on time with finals and college. these artist know what they are doing, but Sonic fans are so hot head about just the characters, and the lore changing. I see the humans and team sonic working together. that's the theme. Sonic fans just need to do research and really think. look at the shots and make connections to the last adventures... I saw my sibling having fun for the first time in 3 years. sonic is for kids, but we need to grow up.-@thomas1rye.

"it's all about family Tom" - donut lord. the points are there. it's just a parody of family's and there kids playing a sonic game and being lost with what they're seeing. it's like a funny poke at the fans who overthink sonic lore. it's just nostalgia amplified to the max. this was meant for creatively driven families to watch... it's mood boards done right. I feel at home with this giving the adventure feel. it shocked me with how close the family dynamic was. the message is loud and clear. its for kids to sit with parents to bond and share the love for sonic. long story short -@thomas1rye
