  • Started to have coolant issues with our 2011 1.2 petrol Vauxhall Corsa Mark 3 (D) 16V.
    First noticed it loosing coolant, checking hoses, etc and finding no leaks.
    This is the first diagnostic video trying to determine where the water has gone and what to do next.
    Hopefully second video will be the resolution, otherwise it will be continued until we can solve the problem!
    Parts involved. Thermostat:

    F.y.i on most corsa d, press the button on the end of the wiper controller/indicator 4 times but hold it on the 4th time until the dash changes.. press it in again 5 times to flick through to the temp gauge. It should say 100 and your current temp under that.

      Great tip, I'll give that a go and test it out! Thank you

      On some Corsa D's (that don't have the wiper stick button) it's this exact same sequence, using the journey milage reset button on the dash 👍

    105 fan comes on, it can raise upto 110-112 before the temp gradually comes down back to around 102 . It's had a new water pump or my radiator could be slightly clogged.

      This is exactly what my daughters car is doing, I fitted a new (none genuine) thermostat last weekend and a new water pump, she’s phoned me today saying it’s boiled up again, radiator was cold

      @@mikehughes3989 can only be a blockage. Tonight even though its cold weather the temperature hoovers around 112-113 for a few minutes before the temperature starts to go down. I am going to put a new radiator on it this week. I do remember once using some of the rad seal a year or so ago am wondering if that has blocked a few channels in the radiator.

    Have you made a continuing video about when you installed the new thermostat and whether the coolant problem was still trouhle????

    I have the same car as you but for me the water in the tank keeps draining immediately and the thermostat on the dash keeps flashing red when I drive. Do you know what problem would be causing this as now my car overheats quickly, not sure why ?

    • @chazwalker7156
      @chazwalker7156 Před 3 lety +1

      Same issues here - it was blown water channels (the edge's of the mating water holes had corroded away) on the cylinder head, right near the the 4th cylinder chamber edge, obviously allowing water/coolant escape...
      Engine strip down and a replacement (skimmed) head, and a new head gasket seems to have sorted it...
      Hopefully 🤞 this won't be the case for you - bit of a ⚽ ache job pal.

    Was the bottom radiator pipe cold at running temp, I have that problem. Engine made a rattle and spat all coolant out the expansion tank.

    What's the difference between an open thermostat and a closed one in a Corsa D? What difference would I be able to see? Cheers

      @junkendriven  Před rokem

      Not sure you'd physically see, since they open at just over 100oC they're difficult to test

    I have a problem with my corsa d. When I drive the car it gets to 20k rpm the revs shoots up then drops back down in each gear. Anyone had an issue like this before. My brother thinks the clutch is on its way out but I'm not sure.

      I believe so, the ones I've worked on do. It's the timing chain/chain tensioner which maybe needs replacing.
