    Thank you for a brilliant video. It gave me the confidence to change clutch on my sons car today. Lower ball joints were very difficult, - looks like yours had been taken apart before. Instead of removing the 3 hard to get at bolts on the mounting plate, I removed the battery box and undid the 18mm nut. Watch out for the almost hidden battery earth leads.

Near on identical to this 1.4 except for the starter motor being on the other side of the bell housing and the only problem I had was the bolts holding the ball joints in were severely rusted and were nearly impossible to get out so I also had to replace them

    Hi Kevin, a really nice video! I will have to do the same job on my Fiesta 1.5 tdci (2016), which has the same type of gearbox (IB5), albeit a different "bell" (the starter is in the rear). This is because the clutch shakes in first gear when the engine is hot. However, I noticed that in my case there is very little space between the gearbox and the engine subframe (~ 1 inch). I saw that you did not remove the engine subframe and still managed to lower the gearbox. Maybe because that type of engine is smaller and the space is bigger? Thank you very much.

    Hi Kevin, I hope this message finds you well. I've got something for you that is driving me a bit crazy. In jan 22 I bought a mk6 04 Fiesta 1.2 with 37000 certified miles. In the lastest past few weeks I noticed that, when the car is cold and parked for few hours, I struggle to engage any gear (I feel a lot of resistance) but only when the engine is running! In fact, when the engine is off I can select easly all the gears! Anyway, once the car moves and warms up the problem rapidly goes away and the gearbox acts normally (I've got another mk6 1.4 16v Fiesta with 140k miles and I can't notice any difference in behaviour!) in any circumstance (even when driving hard). Clutch feels better than 140k Fiesta and doesn't slip, no vibration, no strange noise. Yesterday I cleaned, greased, adjusted the gearbox cables and evend bled the clutch, but made no difference. Tomorrow I will try an oil change and see what happens and if this doesn't solve the problem I don't know what to do next.
    Have you got any clues Kevin? What do you think?
    Ciao dall'Italia!

      @@WMCS unfortunately the oil change didn't solve the problem. Cheers

      They come with new slave cylinders to keep stuff out during transit/fitting, handy to keep hold of for things like this

    Does the slave cylinder/throwout bearing have constant contact with the pressure plate whether the clutch is up or down?
    I have a noise at idle coming from the gearbox that is there whether the clutch is up or down and only seems to be there when the engine is warm.
    Cheers

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Joseph.,, the most likely cause in my opinion would be the gearbox main shaft bearing .., the slave wound’ to really give any noise as it’s hydraulic. If there’s too much movement on it it leaks and you’ll have a loss of clutch pedal.

    • @josephturrall2333
      @josephturrall2333 Před 3 lety

      Cheers for the reply. Would the input shaft bearing still make noise/spin even if the clutch is depressed while stationary?
      If it is that, will it be alright to drive with for a while?
      Cheers

      @@josephturrall2333 you will not want to drive the car mate my clutch done exactly that the slave cylinder leaked hydrolic fluid and there is no way to fix this. You cant go anywhere once it happens your car will be stranded needing a pick up truck. mine happened sitting in my private parking without even driving it overnight. jumped in the car and the pedal hit the floor and stayed there.

      Hello mate, I don't think it's my slave cylinder that is causing the noise. It's not leaking or anything it's just an annoying noise at idle that does change with the clutch up or down. The noise is definitely coming from the gearbox area but can't seem to find what it is. People are saying input shaft bearing but I thought that stops spinning when the clutch is down so I don't know

    Hi I'm hoping you can help me .
    I've done the clutch on my 2008 fiesta 1.4 petrol zetec . Once I finished and bled up the clutch and filled the box with transmission fluid.
    I came to check it and ensure its selecting gears etc . I have a good clutch pedal but it's stuck in gear very tight and I've pumped the clutch pedal whilst trying to take it out of gear but it won't budge . Any advise is much appreciated.

      Bleed the system again maybe there’s air trapped in the line.
      Otherwise the clutch plate might facing the wrong way ..or wrong clutch kit.
