Ironically the way skating works is that the blades melt the ice more with increased pressure 🤔...so it would only make sense for you to be saying he's skating "really hard"?? As an aside...Ovetchkin is an animal we are unlikely to see again. Top 2 NHL history in goals and Top 5 NHL history in body checks. No one has or conceivably will dominate a league that way. There are better (many) players than him. However there has never been anyone do what he has done for almost 20 years. To downplay his career and how unstoppable he has been is equivalent to wearing a jersey with "Don't know hockey" on the back.

Nothing against Caps or islanders but I think the Wings & Pens would've (probably)put up a better fight if they happened to squeak in.
Definitely crosby is still really high end talent. Ovechkins game just doesnt translate well at this point in his career in the modern game nhl, crosby wins faceoffs passes much better and an overall better player
The two wrong teams lucked into it. They were the last two teams that wanted to make the playoffs. Even Philly would have been a better choice.

Dear Sportsnet. Why are over half of your highlight packages consistently in the first period, and then in this example and others I've seen so far you show like three highlights in the third period, and then jump to the end of the game. Are you seriously telling me that absolutely nothing happened worth showing a highlight of in the entire third period? I find that so hard to believe having watched hockey for years. Why does it need to be said that there should be more highlights near the end of the game than in the first period to give the most important parts of the game? Please put more thought into this.

Shesterkin bailed out the team today, which a goalie should be able to do, but I rather see the defense play better and keep the ice clear in front of the goalie. Too many guys left alone in front and stop the stupid penalties. Six is too many.

Ovie looks tired. He's a big man and he can't carry all that weight around for 82 games. I would be disappointed to see the goal scoring record go to him. He was great, hall of fame player but he's just hanging around to see if could get it. I think it's on the NHL players to prevent that from happening next season. Ovie can be shutdown, he can't keep up anymore. New mission: Protect 99's record.
