My grandmother has since passed away. Upon cleaning her home I found a box of buttons and needles and pins and thread that she used to use when she sewed our clothes. I put those inside the clear ornament and gave it to all of her grandchildren so that we could hang it on our Christmas tree to remember her every year! 💕
Beautiful!
I’m so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful way to keep her with you and keep the memories going!
Great idea! Thank you. Sorry for your grandmother’s passing
@@lindakimbell7965 thank you
What a thoughtful gift and keepsake. Having that lovely visual reminder of her on your Christmas tree can instantly bring up sweet memories and put a smile on your face. Can you hear your children asking "Why are you smiling Mom?"
I find that moments like these often present the perfect opportunity to share a bit about someone who is no longer with us with family members, especially children, helping them get to know and appreciate their ancestors. These quick unplanned moments helps them get to know the people who helped shape you and ultimately them as well. Hopefully, each time they notice the ornament filled with buttons they, too, may think of her again and maybe ask "tell me more about her Mom”. Your kind gesture will keep her alive in hearts and minds for a long time to come.
HINT: If the kids are young glue on the top. They may want to hold the ornament as you talk about her. Curiosity may = buttons everywhere if you don't. Plus, holding the ornament will help the new memory you are creating last longer for them. If you have a picture of her, or several from over the years, now would be a great time to share them. Did you realize the heartfelt impact your kind gift could have? You did a great thing.
I was a daycare teacher and one year I asked every child to share with me something important or significant that happened that year. At least 5 things (Mostly what grade they were in, teacher, fave subject) typed them and printed them onto paper that was patterned on one side and white on the other. Cut up their memories into straps had them roll them up to place in the ornament. Then gave them a permanent silver or gold marker to write their name then I wrote the year on the back and attached a little tag that explains the Memory Ornament. The kids then gifted them to their parents
That is so sweet, and some of them may still have them
That's a very cute idea! I used to love getting things like this when my son was in school. My favorite was the sheets like "about my mom" and he would answer questions about me. ❤️❤️ Miss those things!
One of my favorite memories was when my daughter was in kindergarten, and each child in the class had to write down on a piece of paper their favorite thing to eat, and the ingredients! Some of the recipes were hysterical, and then the teacher made copies of each recipe, with the child's name on the bottom of the recipe! Then she put the whole book together for each child to give a copy to their Mom for Mother's day! And the spelling of the ingredients was adorable too!
All teachers need to be you
Wow! What a great idea. Those parents I'm sure, kept these ornaments over the years.
One thing thing I learned is that before you put any acrylic paint inside of any glass ornament, you should rinse them out real well with a mixture a white vinegar and water. Turn them upside down and let them dry overnight. This process helps the paint adhere to the inside of the glass MUCH better than not doing it at all.
it’s plastic
Your totally right! My paint kept drying wrong and missing spots!
These are cute
@@fehmeebrathwaite2456Listen and learn!
@@jashaunnagray6288The paint will also come of the inside of the bulb also, days after they are painted, very disappointing after all the work to make them so pretty!!
Katelyn, I saved all the leftover pieces of fabric, trim, etc from my daughter's wedding and I used them to make Christmas ornaments for their first Christmas together. Lots of fun because I made everything for her wedding, so I had lots of things to use. I even stuffed one with the iridescent wrap and pieces of her silver lace tablecloths I made. I was so happy with the way they turned out.
What a wonderful memory keeper for her!
What a fabulous idea!!!!
What a wonderful and thoughtful idea..she will treasure them and pass them on!
That’s sooo sweet❤❤❤
That’s brilliant!!
I love all the awesome ways that you have done here! I actually had bought a cricut after I started watching you! I was just going to add in,back in 2018 a neighbor had asked me to announce her pregnancy in a super unique way! Knowing I am always looking to do something different I had gotten 6 Clear balls, I did 2 with baby socks wrapped up, added in the MINI pacifiers,Snow and tied a bow! 2 more w Snow, Baby A & Baby B! MINI Babies Wrapped bow, Last 2 Snow, Bow, and had a MINI sign using card stock, laying flat on back so it read BIGGER " WE ARE OTW GRANDMA & GRANDPA!", When she sent me the videos of the Grandparents reading them I CRIED, My kids, Hubby & ALL I showed it too! The couple had tried to have a baby for 6years & had decided that they were Financially Tired, Mentally & just was going to not try anymore....Oh wait did I forget to mention the husband had been injured a month b4 announcement & they soon were going to be living off his military $ and her PART TIME job as she was in school for nursing?!? As we see sometimes God might have other ideas as they had gotten pregnant with twins & they had a boy ^ a girl! Best gift I believe I have ever given anyone outside of my home! Now they do these same clear ornaments using updated pics of them to hold as a tradition! You never know what effect you make on ppls lives by just using ur mind & Heart!
That was truly beautiful. The world needs more like you! It's all in God's timing. 💞
❤️ Beautiful!
Years ago I put the clear iridescent shred inside my clear balls- still using and they look great when we turn the lights on the Christmas tree😉
That sounds so pretty. Reminds me of old time tinsel on a tree. Nice shimmer.
I put the graduation tassels that I had from me and my brothers and sister in clear glass balls a few years ago. I fed the cord through the hole on top to be the hanger, and attached the little charm for our grad year on the original wire hanger. My mother loved them!
Thats a great idea. I'm going to use your idea. Thank you!!
@@nopez1nu I am too!
Such a good idea. Thanx for sharing.

I haven’t had a lot to celebrate in many years. Christmas became more painful than joy. I’m working to reclaim my joy this year.
I ❤ that you made these adorable ornaments! Making homemade Christmas ornaments every year has been a family tradition since I was a young child in 1977. We have a live tree every year completely covered in handmade ornaments. I’m *always* looking for ideas!
I personalize the clear ornaments on the outside using my silhouette. Like airplane ✈️ for my son, deer 🦌 for my daughter. Then I put name and year. Fill them with pinecones, snowflakes, snow mixed with glitter. I love all your DIYs. Thank you for sharing and have a blessed evening. 😘❤️🤗🙏🏻☃️❄️⛸🥶☃️🎄Lisa Palmer
Very personal to the family. I will make some for Christmas and mail them out!!!! So cute.
Wasn't in the Christmas mood for doing crafts. Then I watched your video. Awesome! They look very nice.
We need the Christmas spirit more than ever. I have been doing some crafts and it lifts my spirits. 🎄🎅🙏⛄️✝️
Katelyn, i watch a ton of videos from a ton of dollar tree “artists” and i have to say, you are the best. You have a great eye and you’re very resourceful and creative. Thank you.
You inspired me. ♥️. I get the flatter round ornaments and decoupage Christmas napkins on one side so it's showing through the other and add glitter or pearls.
Last year I made one very similar with a Christmas card, put a hole in it and ran a Christmas light through it for extra drama.
I do the same with napkins or rice paper.I put mop and go or poly acrylic in ornaments and swirl around, drain, then put glitter inside
A couple years ago my 4 (adult) kids went to a 3d sculpting shop and had themselves 3D sculpted as Christmas elves, then put the little elves into the plastic round ornaments and decorated the top hanger area. Best ornament and best gift idea ever! They were so adorable and unique. The 3D sculpture captured their likeness pretty well. And really made the greatest ornaments on the tree. I was very surprised, and impressed they came up with such a unique idea!
The last ornament hit the ball out of the park! I will run, not walk to Dollar Tree tomorrow!!!! Love you!!! ❤. I am going to do a craft marathon this weekend……pizza, wine and Christmas crafts……
My son’s kg teacher took ribbon to measure the kids and put it inside the ornament to see how much they grow each Christmas! I thought it was so sweet!
Loved the mermaid ornament but my favorite was the paint pour ornament.
I took some of the upside down mason jar ones, glued the top in so it doesn’t fall off, put a ribbon through the top hook part and use them for little hanging storage for some of my small craft items and my girls have even used them for some of their small makeup products hanging in the bathroom too. Love all these awesome craft ideas you have been sharing can’t wait to try some 💕
You could also use Foam board and the Domes that came out for Spring time, Fill it all the same and sit on table tops! Make sure that you use 2layers of foam @ min, You can use the Peel and stick rolls that look like wood as the base, If items are light enough you might be able to string some Twine,Mautical rope, Fishing string (Endless ideas on this) through the top 2 holes and hang up as well! Hope you have fun!
I don't understand how you open it if you glued the jar lid on. Somehow I'm not envisioning your project
Oh sorry I didn’t glue the lid on the piece that hangs it can pop off so I called it the top but it’s the loop for hanging that I glued on
I wish pictures could be uploaded in CZcams comments. Your idea sounds great, but I’m not visioning it either, even with your added explanation. 😢
Hi, Katelyn, Very cool Great ideas, usually I put glitter, seed beads, sewing items measuring tape, etc. scrap pieces of lace.
I’m going to do one in memory of my grannie! I have some antique buttons…..her photo….
We put both of our girls’ newborn hospital hats in the clear ornaments.💗
😇💜 Really CUTE ideas.
I have always made homemade Christmas ⛄ ornaments for at least 30+ years. One idea for the clear glass ornaments that I have made is, by mixing two or three different colors of paint 🎨 and pour the colors IN the glass ornaments, and swirl the paint 🎨 anyway you want.
Then turn the ornament up side down so the paint 🎨 drains out.
I would let it dry over night, and then I would tie a ribbon 🎀 at the top of the ornament.☃️🎀❄️🥶🤗💜
I use Rub ‘n Buff on the lids of the snowglobe ornaments to disguise the gray plastic. Extra step, but I like the effect. 😊
You can also cut small pieces of multi-colored garland and stick that inside clear ornaments. Makes pretty ornaments for your tree.
I’ve taken the big clear ornaments and made keepsakes with the kids hats and bracelets they get from the hospital when they’re born. I’ve also put snow in them with little trinkets and a list of what’s in the ornament for a seek and find. Even my grown kids loved the seek and find ones.
I love the sock ornaments!! Another really pretty way to do those ornaments is to get red rose petals from DT and stuff them inside. I decorate the outside with a paint pen in gold. Like a name or simple design and glue some rhinestones on....BEAUTIFUL! Try it one day!
Yes, also can add some fairy light so the petals reflect! I love DIYs!
I love your idea. My husband got me 5 dozen roses for our 50th in June. I couldn't think of any way to make them last without drying them. I would love to make 5 ornaments with the dried petals, but not sure how to do that. Any ideas?
Love the sock idea and the snowman idea!
Last yr my grandson and I. Watered down some mod podge and rolled it around like u did the pain and let drain . But before was dry he then added different colored glitter .. and shook it around then dumped the rest and let it dry . U get the glitter look with the mess 😁☺️😂 then he wanted to put everyone's name on them and give as a gift . Love that 💗💕💕💗 that's my boy .. these where all so cute . Have a Blessed week stay safe stay healthy stay positive always make it fun Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🌾🌵🦎💗
I put flower petals from funerals in the clear Christmas balls, and wrote little messages on thick paper for the outside of the ornament. The recipients really seemed to appreciate it. I also tied decorative bows and charms on the outside.
I LOVE this idea! I have dried flowers from several funerals I want to make. Can you send me a picture of the ones you made?
Those clear ornaments are a great way to save your babies hospital bracelet and first hat. God bless!
Thanks! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
All are so cute. Gave me some ideas since I bought a 9 pack of the clear ornaments at Walmart much cheaper. I bought some cute Christmas scrapbook paper and will curl some paper to fill with pretty ribbon
That was so unique. There were a lot of elements in that creation. I am thinking of a photo inside with some mementos or trinkets. My grannies photo, some of her antique buttons, ect.
The Snowman is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! I would use a Green or maybe Blue for the Hat though. The other Ornaments are GREAT AS WELL!!!! Thanks for Sharing!!!!
Oh Katelyn! I love the mermaid. I made a beach snowman (from stacked pumpkins) covered in sand with one of the nautical ribbons from DT. I love the coastal looks. Thank you! So cute!!!!
Yes! I think adding sand and small seashells would have been cute too! (mermaid)
I've never used the clear ornaments for decorating a Christmas tree I put duration tassel into a clear ornament one time for my friend to keep You have a lot of wonderful ideas I liked all of them I really like the red and white one that you Put the paint over
I LOVE these! My kids would love the gumball machine and the marble pour-over. We've totally got to do those! Thanks for sharing! 👍💕
I’m so impressed with all of your ideas!!! Your channel is an elevated version of all the other Dollar Tree craft channels. I’m so glad I found your channel 🥰
Talk about cuteness!
Also fun to make. Nothing compares to homemade from the ❤ I made a bunch of these paint swirl ones last year for my daughter & SIL's tree.
Kaitlyn, the gumball one would also make an adorable hot air balloon 🎈 just a thought 😉
That would be so cute!! Great idea!!!1.
How do you do the hot air balloon one?
They were all cute but the mermaid one was just beautiful ❤️
Very cute ideas. Loved the mermaid ornament
Nice job! I love the little gum ball machines. 🥰
The DT acrylic paint is great for painting the inside of these ornaments I did this last year and happened to have a bottle of the white DT paint and it was the best and easiest coverage. Love these ideas Katelyn thanks so much.
I L.O.V.E.D these precious ornaments!!! You could make something great out of literally A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G!!! God bless you and TY!
I do several things, alcohol ink. Rice paper decopage, acrylic marbeling on the inside, and making glitter ornaments. I love to play with it all. 😂😂😂😂
I love what you did with the wine glasses and wood rounds. It gave me a million ideas for my own tree! I made a giant snow globe out of a round goldfish bowl. It turned out so cool!!! My husband is a tree removal and trimming company so I can get custom wood slices!!! 😊😊😊
I really Ike making ornaments with the clear glass ones in all sizes and shapes. My favorites in this fun video are the red and white sock-covered ones, the snowman with the little striped hat, and the "globe" with the tiny tree and snow on the wood piece. I have to make some for family members for their trees and, of course, some for me!
They are ALL so cute, I need another tree! Mine is packed!!! I may put up a mini tree with just the clear ones.
These ornaments all turned out awesome! The little mermaid one for a little girl would be so special. I only have little grandsons at the moment. First grandaughter due in January. I think I will try and make some of the other cute ornaments with the 2 older grandsons and let them put whatever treasures they want too inside.
Great projects using the ornaments. I have just finish making 5 ornaments where I poured the paint inside. They turned out beautiful. Thanks for giving me some more great ways to decorate the plain ornaments. Have a wonderful day. 🌲🧑🎄⛄️💐
My sister in law used one of the larger clear Christmas balls and put their sons and their name bands from the hospital as well as the little hat the nurse put on him when he was born in it. Then she wrote babys first Christmas on it, that will be the first ornament on their tree this year.
These ornaments are awesome!! My grandson and I make ornaments every year for our families! These will be perfect for him to make😊 Thank you for these tutorials ❤️
My new boyfriend has a 6 year old daughter & I was trying to figure out an art project we could do together to bond & you just inspired me to do some ornaments 😍
I love the characters in the snow globes! Dollar Tree also has mini Barbies. I could see making some of these with pretty pink ribbons since Barbie has been so popular this year!
I do fluid art. You can put these upside down on a baking rack with a medium-sized canvas from DT under the baking rack. Pour the paint over it the bulb and let the paint flow down to the canvas. Remove the baking rack with the bulbs on them to another area to drip dry. You then tilt the canvas back and forth and you have a matching canvas. That way you don't waste the paint. I do it over DT vases. One recommendation is to not use quite as much of the pouring medium. If the paint has a pourable, but thicker consistency, it allows more of a marbling look. Or if you don't want a matching canvas, simply put a drop cloth type thing under the drying racks, and you can scrape the paint up and put it back in an empty bottle for a future craft.
Absolutely love all of these ornaments. Definitely going to recreate a few of them to go with my Christmas tree. Plan on doing an Americana and United States Marine Corp Christmas tree this year.
Hi this is Judy Greene and I loved all of that today the little ornaments now I know what I’m gonna do with my grandkids this coming weekend. Going to come up again and we’re going to make some ornaments for their tree and for mine so I want to thank you as usual for all you do and again my name is Judy Greene from St. Louis Missouri. Thank you girl I appreciate everything.
So many great ideas❤️
I do paint pouring on canvas and on clear ornaments. I put a silicone mat underneath to get the drips from the paint. When it’s dry on the mat, I peel it off (it’s called a skin) and use it to make jewelry or magnets. That way you never waste paint.
You really out did yourself!! Love all of them! Thanks Kaitlyn!!
I love the mermaid 🧜♀️ one! I live at the beach so I put sand & shells 🐚 collected in the ornaments. Paint the bottom with blue paint, hang down in the middle a star, sun or dolphin in the middle of the ornament & write the beach name on the ornament. Sometimes I use twine or rope to make ribbon! Thank You for the video it gave me some great ideas!!!
I have used old nail polish to do th pour technique, using 2 or three different colors. It's fun to do and it uses up some of the colors I have only used a few times. I have had teal, blue & green, red, green & white, etc.
The mermaid was my absolute favorite!
Congratulations on 400k!!!! Amazing work
Edit: I am loving these ornaments!! I have a special needs son (24-hour medical care, WC bound, feeding tube, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, feeding tube, and more). His teacher comes to the house to work one on one with him, and she’s very artsy. She was wanting to make an ornament every week for Christmas in December. I’ll be sure to grab plenty of these items! Thanks so much
So Heart felt So very sorry for your loss .Great Creation so fsmily members always have your nearest and Dearest close toand in there ❤
Years ago my children and I did ornaments with the acrylic paint inside like you did with the snowmen. But we layered it like you did with the pouring paint, swirled, and let the excess drain. To me it was the best of both worlds: the marbled look without the mess or fear the paint will get scratched off the surface.
Love your ideas!
Take a favorite photo of family members (perhaps those who have passed) and copy it. Roll it up like you did the wrapping paper but unroll it and roll it back the opposite way. Insert it and once inside you can use a skewer stick to unroll it. Since you undid the first roll, the paper doesn't have as much memory and won't be so reluctant to UNROLL once inside. Drop red berries an ever-green sprig, your snowflakes etc. Perhaps a quote, sports logo, hobby icon, personalize it to fit the person either inside or attached and gift it to those who are missing someone this year.
All of your ideas were SUPER CUTE Katelyn! Well done! PS. buy those ornaments in bulk on line NOW so you won't miss out. Deliver to store FOR FREE.
Omg I love it!! Awesome ideas for gift! Thank you for sharing 😊❤
I loved the idea with the napkin rings and Pom poms. Very cute. 😊
These are all such great ideas to put a homemade christmas tree together for a newlywed or for someone just starting out on their own. Also great ornaments to make with your grandkids, except maybe the pore over method if they are little. Thanks for all the great ideas!
I never knew what to do with the little (mason) jar ornaments until now! Thanks for the idea of adding characters - very creative! My nieces and nephews are going to love them!
Just wanted to say a quick hello and thank you so much for making these videos! I really enjoy watching all of your DIY videos, especially on days I need a little relaxing reset during the day (I’m a SAHM with 2 under 3). Your cheerful countenance and cozy craft ideas always make me smile 😊
Katelyn, this was absolutely one of your best videos yet. What adorable ideas! Bye for now. Gotta head to my Dollar Tree!
Those marble ones are fantastic!!!
This is super neat. I wish they would had stuff like this when I was a kid (43 now). I would have loved doing this stuff with my family. Each of us making an ornament and putting the year on it and then the next year, when it's time to trim the tree...we get the ornaments out and riminess....sigh. my mother would always buy us an ornament every year, put our names on it and the year it was bought. Hmmm, I wonder where my ornaments are right now?
Anyways, these are super great ideas. I can't wait to do these. And not expensive, and something fun to do. by.myself...THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!!!! ;D
I used old nail polish and poured them inside ornaments for that paint pour effect. Loved them.
I haven't made any ornaments and like your simple ideas!! Will definitely give these a try!
Oh wow!!! These are great!! Perfect for craft days with family!
absolutely gorgeous. all so beautiful ❤️
love the mermaid ornament and the snowman ornaments the best
So is this real or a samer .. the last o e that did this never seen a thing .. help me please
Very cute! I have decoupaged fabric to the round ornaments. It’s super easy if you want to give it a go.
I have used the clear baubles to gift for a new born baby. Take a photo of the new born, then get it developed into a passport sized picture. Stick two together ( to be seen from all angles) and insert into the bauble.
Add a bow round the neck and add a decal or write baby's first Christmas!
These are all so cute, Katelyn. I especially love the snowmen.. you're so good at making the faces. 💕
I absolutely love these ideas with the clear ornaments. I hope I can find the small paw patrol ones. Grandkids love them.
I'm doing clear ornaments for the first time and I've been watching a bunch of these types of videos and this one was is favorite. Lots of great ideas and inspiration for me.
I've always went right past the clear ornaments, just not sure what to do, besides glitter? Thank you so much for giving us the fun ideas, to diy some budget friendly, super festive ones!
So far (and I've watched many), these are my favorite DIY Christmas ornaments. Thank you!
Yay!! Thanks Sandi! ❤️
I love the upside down jar ornaments. I use them for storing my ribbon and twine🥰
These ornaments are adorable!!!! I can’t wait to recreate them once my DT gets their Christmas stuff in!!!
These are sooo adorable! I love the Mickey Mouse, I gave my mom a Mickey ornament years ago which broke. This would be a great replacement! Thanks!
I’m obsessed with mermaids & need to keep an eye out for a transfer to make that ornament! So cute!!
Hope you find them! ❤️
I began using clear ornaments years ago with the shimmery shreds- looks beautiful with the lights on the tree👍👍
I loved each and everyone of these projects Katelyn. You always have great ideas and I always love them. I’m looking forwards to making quite a few of these with my grandsons, they love to help. You’ve inspired me to do probably a lot more than I would have so thank you. Thanks for sharing and have an awesome week.
I had been collecting stuff to go inside snow globes for several years, and recently had the grandkids over for a craft day. They made at least 6 snowglobe scenes. They had a blast. We used several styles of the ornaments, but mostly the ones that are round and have screw-off lids.
That sounds so fun! ❤️
Katelyn I just found your channel and am inpressed with your creativity. Now I have to see more so I will be watching older videos. Of course I've subscribed and texted a few friends to check out your channel. On several of the snowglobe style ornaments you added faux snow on your other ornament video. A tip I got from another Christmas video was to wipe the inside of the glass or plastic with a dryer sheet. This helps prevent the snow from clinging to the inside of the glass. It works! Now it looks like snow not a blizzard.
I am really enjoying your crafts. Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing.
A few years ago i put paint and floetrol in paper cups, layered the paint colors, and did a paint pour over clear ornaments. Hit them with a heat gun for a few seconds to pop air bubbles and let them dry. They turned out great with all the colors and the cells formed by the floetrol. I then made little tags wirh each family members name, attached to the ornament, and used them as Christmas gift tags.
Back in the late 90s, I had to file for bankruptcy. That year I took a clear ornament and painted on the outside "My credit card Christmas". I then filled the inside with small cut up pieces of my credit cards. I had plenty in many different colors. Since I gave them to family and close friends, I felt ok to leave my name full but I cut the numbers up and made sure that no one got a full card number. Everyone loved them!
Love this video! I made some ornaments a couple of years ago using the clear round ornaments. I added a red cardinal bird cling then applied glue over except for bird. I then covered in epsom salts to give it a snow effect. They turned out beautiful. I'm going to buy some more of these and try some of your ideas. I am making yarn gnomes right now. They are also super cute and easy to make!
I love the way you created the marble look on the ornaments and the mermaid ornament so cute!!
My grandkids will be visiting and I am looking for craft ideas to do with them. This is perfect! Thank you!
I love this and most of these can be done as a class or family project with small children.
Absolutely love all of your projects!! My favorite was the Snowman ornament!
It was so charming!!!
WOW!!! You blew it out of the park,,,!!! I have sooo many great ideas for my children’s church Christmas crafts, thanks to you!!! THANK YOU!!! Dee
I love the ornaments ❤️. I got to pick some up and make them with my grandchildren.
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. May you have a Blessed day.
6:10 "I love this little snowman!" Immediately rips him in half 😂
Love the video. Now I must get supplies. Thanks for the great ideas. Still feeling bad for frosty though lol
Love your ornaments especially the red ones mixed with white paint. I soo enjoyed this video. Thanks sooo much for sharing. God Bless.
I'm never disappointed by your crafts!!!
