I am sure for 2021 model Chevy will probably include the center storage bin on the base model WT. Too many people complain of not having one. I got an LT model, so it did come with it. It also came with a USB-C port besides the standard USB.
I just found out the 2021 custom trailboss comes with center storage so the part number for the 2021 model can be used now and would be alot less Hassel when ordering through your local dealer
If you're changing out the entire console, all you have to do is take out the seat bolts on both sides with a T50, use trim tool to pop the sensor cable lose underneath the seat to give yourself some slack, then lift and lean the seat back. Do this on both sides. It will give you plenty of clearance to get to the 18mm bolts securing the console in place. Once you have the console loose, simply lift the console up and take it out the passenger door. Much easier than trying to get it past the steering wheel. Do everything in reverse order and you're all set. Just did mine and it took maybe an hour. Too easy.
@indianriverguideservicellc7052 I bought a console that was pulled out of a 22 silverado. Fit perfect. Only thing is the lock on the bottom storage. Gonna have to get it replaced with one that works with my key.
👍🏼👍🏼 Great how to video for someone thinking of swapping out their center console. I did this conversion a year ago when I first got my Trailboss and the one step that I thought was the hardest part to figure out was the removal of the seat belt where you have to bend up the Aluminum Blind Rivet holding the seatbelt anchor to the floor without thinking you were going to ruin it. You skipped over that part.. 😬
@@backwoodsv1047 Hey Backwoods, I took a screwdriver and got behind the thin part of the rivet between the seat belt plate and slowly bend it up enough to slip the seatbelt plate over the head of the rivet. When you install the plate from the new console over the rivet you just bent up take the round backside of a ball peen hammer and lay it in the center of the rivet and slowly tap on the hammer so it flares the rivet back in shape. Once you get the rivet flared out enough you can tap the rivet with the flat side of the hammer to get it flat again. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks I was really disappointed about the having enough storage really sucks I was about to walk in that dealership and get my Fully loaded f150 back lol
If you take whole top part off of the non storage version there is a hidden secret cubby inside. I work for a large used car dealer and ever since we’ve been getting this generation truck I couldn’t believe the downgrade from the 2018 and older model. I was checking out the arm rest on one of these and couldn’t believe it wouldn’t open. I tried from the back and that’s when I discovered it was broken and the hidden secret cubby lol. Had a plastic inset and everything. Now this particular one could have been discovered before hence why it was so easy to pop the top off and someone may have made a makeshift plastic insert for it because it does look suspicious but I don’t know… not the weirdest thing I’ve seen car manufacturers do.
You take so many extra steps removing the lid/seat back…you can just replace the whole seat. 4 bolts hold the jump seat down…remove 4 bolts take out non-storage jump seat, put upgraded complete jump seat in, replace 4 bolts. Literally takes 10 minutes.
Howdy, partner! That solution works if you are replacing the entire seat, but if you are keeping the main seat and only replacing the backrest its a few more steps. Good luck on your project!
Great video! I've been hoping someone would come up with a way to integrate a wireless cell phone charger into the armrest where the rubber bottom cubby is since you lose that option when you go from the bucket seats center console trucks to the bench like ours. Thanks again.
I almost got mine without removing either of the seats, and then that the seatbelt bolt bottom out on the driver's side seat track. Oh well, still went smooth otherwise, thanks for the video!
@@MRGREGSHOWTO absolutely. Everytime I do something to a newer vehicle it makes me miss the simplicity of early 2000's vehicles. You have to take the headliner down to replace the third brake light in these trucks for heavens sake.
My 2020 Custom has the handle/compartment and it's not a listed 'option' so I checked in with a relative who designs the Silverado and found that they switched the console in some of the later built 2020 models. So some have the handle and compartment (ones built later) and the early ones don't. Sounds like the 2021s will all have them.
I’ve owned my 2024 Custom trim level Trail Boss for 4 months and yet have had no need for the center console’s pop open storage feature or the underseat storage. I do like having it being available however should my needs change.
Taking off the battery terminals does not make the air bags safe….it’s have battery/capacitors to keep power to them for a while after the battery is disconnected
update on optional tow mirrors. I received my build sheet yesterday, and it has listed that heated mirrors came on the truck. But as per GM, the mirrors do not display a heat symbol on the glass as in previous years. So long sorry short, don't believe everything your dealer says, keep asking questions and researching for answers. I will order the mirrors and wiring harnesses, and install myself, but the dealer will have to program for complete use of lighting.
GM cheaps out in the weirdest places. My Ram 1500 Classic is a basic trim but I still have storage in the middle seat console and the seat bottom is cushioned. The GM’s middle seat is hard like a rock (no pun intended)
Just getting into a 2020 silverado and this video is amazing! Hoping it will help me lots. Quick question though, how does it fit with the vents in the back and then is it possible to run a plug all at the same time?
Howdy partner! We only replaced the top half so the vents aren’t effected. I think they only get disturbed if the whole jump seat is swapped. You could run power for sure. Check out our wireless charging install video for tips! Thank you!
I purchased a 2020 GMC sierra 1500 base line model, with factory options of 5.3L engine, VALUE package including tow package, and Z31 off road suspension. It also included a rear window defrost. You would think GMC would provide Tow mirrors with heated glass part of the tow package since it came with the rear glass defrost. Not only NO, but hell NO. I asked the dealer if I could order the Tow mirrors with heat and be installed. Sorry he said, you can install Tow remote mirrors, but no heat. Not compatible since heated mirrors did not come on the vehicle. Truck not wired for it. Just when you think you have made the great purchase, bend over and prepare for the surprise!!

Great video I had to do the same thing. I got the complete upper unit too but I did the install a bit differently. I took the screws out of the passenger and the driver's seat tracks next to the center console and then pulled the seat release to move the tracks out of the way. Then I completely removed the center console and swapped the top out in the garage. A little more room to work, not sure what Chevy was thinking I traded in a 2001 2500HD with 315,00 miles on it for the 2020, and I was spoiled with all the storage the old truck had. Ok so now the tough question, on the inside of the lid there are two places molded-in for something one looks like maybe papers, and the other I have no clue. Have you looked at them and if so what are your thoughts. Thanks for a great video again enjoy

AMAZING!!! Imay keep my 2020 Trail Boss after watching this. Thank you.
Thanks, partner! Yes, keep the Trail Boss. It’s an awesome truck, just needs this one simple fix!
My rally edition custom came with the storage console 🤔 I didn't even know the others didn't have it until my coworker showed me his
I hope you’re thinking about getting the back seat fold down cup holder. I would love to see a video on that.
Hey partner! I hadn't thought of that yet, but I will have to look into it. Good idea - thanks!
@@MRGREGSHOWTO I'm going to keep an eye on local auto salvage yards. At some point, some poor LTZ or High Country will end up there...lol.
@@Nashorn95 great idea! There are surely a few out there to be found!
Thank you this video made the swap very easy .
You’re welcome partner! Glad to hear it worked out for you!!
My custom has a storage. Blame the ordering dealer. It’s a 25.00 option.
Hey partner! They should all have it, especially if its $25! Thanks for watching.
Wow good job! Now we just need a wireless phone charger on that Lid!!!
Thanks partner! Check out my other video on installing wireless charging!
I’ve owned my 2024 Custom trim level Trail Boss for 4 months and yet have had no need for the center console’s pop open storage feature or the underseat storage. I do like having it being available however should my needs change.
I like your minimalist style - nice!
Taking off the battery terminals does not make the air bags safe….it’s have battery/capacitors to keep power to them for a while after the battery is disconnected
Thanks, partner! Good to know - appreciate it.
update on optional tow mirrors.
WHAT!!!! OMG next on the list. Do you have a parts list, or link for the center seat/console?
They don't have any
Dude, you should’ve just spent the extra 10k for the upgrade. Just kidding buddy, great video.
GM cheaps out in the weirdest places. My Ram 1500 Classic is a basic trim but I still have storage in the middle seat console and the seat bottom is cushioned. The GM’s middle seat is hard like a rock (no pun intended)
Yea, partner! I agree it’s really a silly place to cut corners.
Thank you!
Just letting people know that if you dont want to take off the seats you could buy a 20 dollar wrench that moves.
Thanks partner! Appreciate the tip. Good idea!
I have a 2021 Custom Trail Boss and it was included on mine
Hey partner! Congrats on the new truck! Suscribe for more helpful videos, including one we just uploaded on a backup camera trailer hack!
Have you got a remote fob ? I need to see if I can find one oem on a base model. If not I’ll just do after market
@@peterpaulsmith5587 sorry,no
Great video. Definitely going to do this upgrade to the work truck the company just got me. Crap like this though is just one more reason why I hate GM. Fricken junk!
Howdy, partner! It is a silly place to cut corners. The space is a real game changer.
Where can you buy the replacement console with storage!?!? I can’t find one anywhere, much appreciated great video.
Hey partner! I bought mine online at SD Parts (link below). They seem to be hard to come by with limited stock. You may be able to find them at other websites, EBay, or even a junk yard. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Where do you purchase this new storage center piece? Just got a 2500 that doesn't have the storage 😡

Great video! Where did you find the center console with the storage compartment and is the one you spoke about with the lower compartment storage available with the A/C and heat vents? Thank you!
Take apart the old seat back to see if there's a storage spot in it. maybe if it does you can just buy a lid?
Weird i just bought a 2023 custom and it has storage in my front bench seat console
Yes, partner! I think GM only did this for a couple years before they realized it was not the best idea.
Thank you I just got a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 utility body like this and hate I have no storage
The custom is pretty plain Jane. To not have any storage at all is pretty awful. My back seat turns into a collection area sometimes.
Yea partner! The lack of storage is really too bad, other than that it’s a great truck. Thanks for watching!
Nice upgrade! Have you found a new Grill that works on the Custom to remove the Chevrolet? Maybe I’m stuck in the 80-90s, but I prefer the bowtie.
Not yet, partner! That's a great idea, though!
Thanks for the video! Made my swap so easy. Have you been able to find a console organizer that fits?
You’re welcome, partner! That’s great to hear that it helped. I haven’t found an organizer yet, but if you get a good one please pass the info along!
Good vid.. im happy I didnt have to do that mine already came with it. 😅
Thanks, partner! Glad to hear that you lucked out! That storage is key.
Where where you able to just find the top section? I was wondering if ya could let me know. Having trouble finding the top part only. Thanks man
Great video I had to do the same thing.
I’m pretty sure it’s for a small box of Kleenex
I did the swap out the same way as you and it was a lot easier…less steps and more room to work with the entire seat out. 👍🏻
I needed this video
Glad to help, partner!
I am looking to do the same thing ,where can I find the parts at

Is the seat plushy/comfortable? The ones with storage underneath are hard.
It's decent for short trips. Not an everyday long road-trip seat.
It’s totally unnecessary to disconnect the battery and the drivers seat harness, there’s enough slack to move the seat forward into the floorboard
Web site where ican order this. Thank you for your video

Go to GM truck forums....plenty of info about this issue
My issue is getting the full floor center console to replace the bench storage on my LT....than ill sell mine to a custom owners.....can never have enough storage
great job
Thanks, partner!
You wouldn’t happen to be missing your audio controls on your steering wheel would you I’m looking to add that to my custom
You can’t. I bought the upgraded steering wheel and it didn’t work. Still have leather tho.
Would it be possible to remove the centre seat altogether and put one of those bad ass centre pieces that connects to under the dash?
Yes, partner. That is possible. I think there may be another video or two out there of that swap on various year Chevys.
Was the top have just from Chevy? Just want to know where you bought it. Thanks! Great video.

Where’d you find a replacement center console?
Is part # 84756948 the number for your original arm rest that came with the truck or the part number for the replacement console that opens? Please confirm the part number you purchased to make this update. Great video!
Hey partner! As you’ve probably seen in previous replies, I posted a link from where I bought the replacement below. Unfortunately, that link is no longer active. The part number you reference is in the link so I would assume that 84756948 is the replacement console that opens. But, I am not 100% sure. Hope that helps!

2020 custom I have has the handle in the center console.
Unfortunately, the link you shared for the seat no longer works?
Howdy partner! Sorry to hear the link isn't working anymore. We aren't affiliated with any parts suppliers, but I believe the GM parts # is 84756948.
Damn you coulda wired and installed a dual USB port to the back while you were at that! That’s what I plan on doing if I get a custom. GM could do better I mean come on. How comfortable is the custom version? How’s the road noise on the long hauls? Great tutorial!
Wow, need to know where or how you bought one cause i cant stand that i have no storage on top or on the bottom

I have a brand new complete center console, jump seat with top storage for sale. I have it listed on fb market place. Easy swap, only 4 bolts.
I can’t find this part anywhere. Dealerships are oblivious to this upgrade. I’ve taken a look at your link and it comes up unavailable every time.
Hey partner! I am really sorry to hear that. I would suggest keeping an eye at eBay. Some people swap out for a full center console and sell the bucket. I hope it works out for you. Thanks for watching!
Where can I buy this and how much should I pay for one?
Really i have a 2021 custom trail Boss in my center console opens but I don't know if it's because I got it in the midnight edition
Hey partner! That’s great - you gotta have the opening storage! Maybe Chevy saw this video. ;)
Bro! Thanks for making this video! It’s extremely annoying not to have space in my Sierra. How much did it cost you to get the replacement?
How much did you guys pay out the door for your Chevy custom 1500?
Howdy, partner! It was a few years ago, but we were under $40k. Prices on automobiles have gone up significantly.
Thanks for making this video!
You’re welcome, partner! Thanks for watching!

I bought a 2019 Silverado 2500HD with a royal body bed last year. It's pretty much an expensive ass base model truck. Can you upgrade things by just buying them? My steeringwheel doesn't have buttons for the radio but I heard all the wires or connections are there so you basically just buy a steeringwheel with the button and the connections should be there. Is that true? I heard something like that for remote start. It's just annoying having to reach the radio to adjust volume or change the music. Would changing the speedometer with one with a fancy bigger screen possible also or those trim models built different? Thanks.
Thank you! Done today.
Awesome partner! You’re welcome. I am sure you are thrilled!!
I like having 3 cup holders
