My hc is that og cale accidentally stumbles upon the tree and end up throwing alcohol on the soil surrounding it because he went drinkinf worh some unsavory people who were giving basen some trouble, after he drinks with them (he was making a deal) he stumbles jnto the sslums to get away from normal civilization for awhile bcuz he know noone fhere will bother him, and he ends up by the tree He throws the alcohol around it as a joke but then the tree starts talking so he returns everyday with a lil sumn sumn by the time choi han come around the tree is a light grey, after the incident with choi han he receives fhe ancient power but never tells anyone and thats how he stays alive eo long in the OG timeline Btw the sheild never gets a physical manifestation because cale never really used the sheild since he didnt mnow anything about it, he just using the vitality perks
