Guiding Light: Character Profiler: India Von Halkein

- It's been a while since I posted a video, but today we have a spectacular character to look back on. She wasn't around much when I watched, but finding all the lost footage helped me appreciate the greatness of this character. India came with a grudge and a desire for power. She set her sight on many men throughout the years but didn't end up with any of them. There was one person that captured her heart and that was Dorie!
I apologize if there is a few details that are incorrect, like many of the characters in the 80's I find their back story online and sometimes the information is incorrect.

India as portrayed by Ms. Adams was by far the most sofisticated classy character on that show. She was smart and witty and when she locked horns with Alexandra those were The best scenes ever. There has never ever been a character like India von Halkein nor there will ever be.
She was the most intriguing character on the show! And she had great style. I loved her many verbal sparring matches with Alexandra.
Yep India was the wild card! It was good to see the old 1984,1985 and '86 clips again ....God how I hated that recast of Phillip it was good to see the Real Phillip resurface in 1990
Oh that was such a mis-casting. He tried but he was just not ever going to be the Philip brought to life by Grant.

You did a great job. I loved the character of India, but I don't think they used her enough or well enough. I never cared for the Simon character at all. That was about the time, the writing wasn't that great.
India always had the best lines.
Who can forget-after Beth tells her that Beth, Philip, Rick, and Mindy did all their growing up together-India's response "Perhaps, I should come back when the process is complete."
And another great scene, Alexandra catches her in bed with Warren (Alexandra's finacee) and Alexandra slaps her.

+Messylin IKR I loved her with with Phillip. The one with the sexy eyes not the one with the big hair sprayed hair.haha I miss Guiding Light so much. Why the hell did they take this show off the air. It had so much more to offer and they could of done more to make it better like the 80s and 90s.
Loved India's early days on GL. Adding this character to the story was a nice touch of mystery, and she became a fun villain with several levels. Once the true colors were exposed, she had some great confrontations with Alex, and Warren too.
It's a shame the bombastic background music here almost drowns out the dialogue.

The Actor who played Simon Hall also was the "First" Corny Collins in the "Original" Film Version of Hairspray.
I began watching in 1990 and started studying GL's history. I had read about India. I was shocked out of my mind when India reappeared that summer in a similar manner to how she debuted in 1984. 😳
Could you do one on The Boudreaus, or even The Bauers like you did with The Spauldings that would be cool.

Looking back, I would have loved for Rooney Mara to play an Adult Dorie or even Emily Norris (Holly's Niece) on The Show.
I really wish I had watched GL back when she was on, along with the hot Philip and the better Beth. Damn my luck!
India was a kick ass character. Mary Kay could hold her own acting opposite Beverlee
Who knows who or when the next profiler will be? This is a great one! The song at the end is really cool!

I keep looking for the clip of when Phillip tied up India with Christmas tree lights, while she was seated in a chair... and then plugged them in. It's one of those HOLY CRAP episodes for sure. Can't find it anywhere on CZcams.

I worked on the Guiding light doing background and under 5's from 1981 to 1985. Worked with Mary Kay (India Von Halkein) in a scene where I and another orderly was restraining her in the hospital. I have been looking for that scene for years. Do you happen to have that footage ?

No. India was from Andorra and her first presence in the storyline was maybe 10-15 years before Richard, Edmund, and Alonzo.
Ok, could someone please explain how Dorie and Dinah were adoptive sisters? Again, another time I wish I was watching GL.
This was great! I just noticed this today. Desert Rose was a great song selection for the end. I liked India with John Bolger's Phillip and thought she and Ross were sort of cute. I don't think this was featured in the clips, but when or which storyline was it when she was tied up with Christmas lights?
I am not sure. I don't have any clips with her being tied up with Christmas lights so I am unable to tell you:(
That's ok. I actually found the clip the other night and it was from the s/l where she had the tape of Phillip hiring Andy Ferris to blow up Lujack's club. She had the tape and that's why Warren tied her up. Thanks anyway! I enjoy these videos. :)
