Definitely one of our favorites. Being in the Denver area, we had already hiked much of the CT segments east of the Continental Divide. After Georgia Pass it was uncharted territory for us. The Ten Mile range between Copper Mountain and Breckenridge is the first real taste of alpine hiking on the CT.

Thank you for sharing this. I will continue the CT in 2022 and this will be the first segment during this second trip. I always like to see other people experiences and videos of segments that I have not done yet.

Seg 7 is great, amazing views above treeline and a great area to slack-pack because of the ease of getting around using the free bus system. After Georgia Pass, this is the first real test for your legs and lungs! Here's to 2022 and another great season on the CT 🍻

Love this trail segment. You guys have given me the impetus to complete all of them as soon as possible. I also would like to know how to get in touch with other hikers to share the trail with as I do one segment at a time.
    Thanks for your great videos!

Thank you, Don! Seg 7 was truly amazing. It's the first time on the CT one gets a real taste of the Colorado alpine. We like to say it's a short and sweet teaser for the coming San Juans.
Feel free to share your experiences with us if you would like, we love hiking and backpacking. There are a few Facebook pages that you might like, Colorado Trail thru-hike 2020, Colorado Trail Section Hikers, The Colorado Trail Foundation and of course our Facebook page, MAD Hippies Life.
Hope to see you out there! -MAD

I have always wanted to know what this stretch looked like. I have watched other videos that didn’t show much of what this looked like. This is the best CT segment 7 on CZcams.
Are you filming everything with a GoPro? The video is crystal clear.

Thank you! Segment 7 was so cool, first real alpine on the CT. We slack-packed this segment, used the free bus to get over to Copper Mountain from Frisco and stayed in Frisco again after we completed the segment, way better services there. We shot all of our video on the GoPro Hero 7 Black. Great little lightweight camera with decent in camera stabilization.

I miss this section on my thru hike due to the Peak 7 fire in 2017.

Did you reverse hike 7 because of elevation or accommodations?

We had preplanned slack-packing segment 7 before starting the CT. Either direction works, we just figured since we were staying in Frisco, we might as well hike back there from Copper Mountain. The free bus system is so easy to use. Frisco and Brackenridge are great for resupply, zeros, slack-packing or reevaluating gear. Segment 7 is amazing!
