A walk in Marone, a charming town located on the eastern shores of Lake Iseo

Welcome to Marone, a charming town located on the eastern shores of Lake Iseo, in the province of Brescia. The town, nestled among the green hills and mountains of the Camonica Valley, offers breathtaking views. The undisputed protagonist is of course Lake Iseo, which, with its crystal-clear waters, offers countless opportunities for water sports, excursions and moments of relaxation.
Climbing the slopes of the hills surrounding there is the hermitage of San Pietro: a place of peace and contemplation surrounded by olive trees and with an extraordinary view of Lake Iseo.
From this vantage point it is possible to see two of the three islands of Lake Iseo: Monte Isola, one of the largest lake islands in Europe, and the island of Loreto.
One of the most striking features of this island is its castle, built in the early 20th century. The castle includes towers, battlements and beautiful gardens. There is also a small harbour and a lighthouse on the island that echo the style of the castle.
The island is private property and cannot be visited, however, it can be admired from boats sailing on the lake.
