  • Here's a BRAND NEW BLUESROCK COVER VERSION song of #Crossroads. The #RobertJohnson blues classic covered by blues rock band, #EricClapton & #Cream.
This is the first single from our debut album, Cover 2 Cover, available at TheRoseCityRockers.com
For those that don't know the story, Robert Johnson originally wrote the song in 1936 and named it Cross Roads Blues.
The song has become part of the Robert Johnson mythology as referring to the place where he supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for his musical talents, although the lyrics do not contain any specific references.
Bluesman Elmore James revived the song with recordings in 1954 and 1960-1961.
English guitarist Eric Clapton with Cream then popularized the song as "Crossroads" in the late 1960s.
Their blues rock interpretation inspired many cover versions and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included it as one of the "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll".
I've always loved the song since the first time I heard a local garage band play it back in the early 70's in Tilbury Ontario.
While most versions clock in at around 3-4 minutes, this one hits 6 minutes! I never intended it to be this long, but I just followed what the groove was telling me to do.
    Dedicated to #BluesRockers Everywhere!
